I don't remember how i came upon this video 3 or 4 years ago but I listened to it and was captivated but I couldnt understand most of its meaning. Ultimately it lead to me to Vedanta which answered most of my questions about this existence and reality. I recommend teachers James Swartz, Swami Sarvapriyananda, Swami Tedatmananda, Swami Dayananda and Swami Chinmayananda if you wish to study Vedanta. Thanks author for posting this.

I think i understand... I use the mantra i am not the body i am not the mind and i try to become the witness and question who the witness is i sort of imagine the fractal webs of the universe i imagine myself as the web..... I understand how that is not becomming the thoughtless and it doesent transcend space or time..... I have smoked dmt and broke out of this realm i understand that all the spiritual teachings become pointless once you transcend... But still if we live in this world and have trauma and blockages the mantras and stuff will surely bring you closer in the long run... Jnana yoga i hear comes later im life once you have practiced other yogas karma and stuff... I understand hes offering the quickest and most truthful way to get their.. But i feel that mantras and connecting to the divine are not a waste of time.... All paths lead to the same place in my opinion.... Yes you eventually have to let go of the mantras and stuff but i hear that will happen all in good time

There seems to be a lot of misconceptions around the misconceptions mentioned here. I don't know who compiled this, but clearly they have wrong ideas. Important for all seekers to know. Firstly, Maharishi's teachings are not at all different from Vedantic (=Advaita) teachings. They are exactly on the same lines. Only that Vedantic teachings are much more elaborate and systematic. Secondly, Vedantic path is Jnana Yoga or path of knowledge. It is very much about systematic enquiry into the nature of the self. There's no mantra repetitions here, but understanding, reasoning, & meditating on the answers. You're not supposed to repeat Aham Brahmasmi, but meditate upon it and various pointers to this through the process of reasoning. Also, Neti Neti is not a verbal rejection of the world. It's the first step of the Vedantic enquiry through reason and analysis. There are several other points that are not correct in this video. In fact, Vedantic teaching is a whole of which, 'who Am I' enquiry is just a part. That's why most people who just try to run away with, 'who am I', don't reach anywhere even after wasting away years as many gaps remain, and there's no proper guidance. The Vedantic system fills all these gaps & holes on the path and precisely guides the seeker with the process till the end. Maharishi's teachings will make much more sense & use to a person once they start going through Vedantic system.

@@jacquelinereid4420A precise & complete answer on How/where would a long one for this forum. I'll give broad directions here. In general, there is a huge amount of Vedanta resource online and one doesn't need to pay anything for most it. However, finding the right ones, and using them systematically is the key to avoid getting lost or wasting your time. Best is to try reaching out to traditional Vedanta organizations in your area. For example, Arsha Vidya, Chinmaya Mission, Ramakrishna Mission, Sivananda etc. Check their websites. Or, look for teachers with lineage originating in India or from one of these authentic orgs. E.g. James Swartz is one coming from Chinmaya Lineage. He's an excellent teacher of complete traditional vedanta. Check his website & videos. Ira Schepetin is another, don't know if he has a website. 2) Pronunciation: Correct is A-Dvaita. A(uh) D(as in 'the') Vai ('ai' as somewhat beginning of 'apt'), ta (soft 't' as French sound it, last 'a' is the schwa)

@@jacquelinereid4420 I agree, for any westerners who are not familiar with the Advaita Vedanta framework, you can refer to the website shiningworld.com by James Swartz. He is a very quailfied and realised teacher who can put these concepts in simple words. He is a devotee of Guru Chinmayanada who was a disiple of Sri Ramana.

I think the thoughts & advices of Ramana are adultrated or misunderstood by some of these persons. For example Neti, Neti is Incorporated in most of advaitic teachings, for example Ribhu Geetha, which was favourite of Ramana Ji. Ramana Ji' was against using anything as a mantra. My sincere opinion is that follow the real advices of Ramana(like question & answers etc. ) rather than these Western interpretation by misunderstood westerners.

The narration is by someone who does not pronounce Ramana's name properly nor Advaita. If he spent much time in Tiru he would need to be dyslexic to make that mistake. Godman spent plenty of sincere time in Tiru but this man most likely not. He has a voice, not likely a devotee.

His pronunciation of Advaita is incorrect. Author's understanding of Vedanta system is also very wrong. So called misconceptions are unfounded. Ramana's teachings are very much within Vedanta. That it is not is, ironically, the biggest misconception.

Most westerners pronounce Ramana's name wrong. They put the accent/stress on the wrong syllable like they incorrectly do with most words unfamiliar to them. That way, Ramana's name sounds Americanized so it can fit into the American school system lol. The Tamil words are also butchered beyond recognition, but he is trying.
