I personally don't agree with the deleting pictures of an ex as immature or petty. I personally have a very hard time moving on from someone (I know I have attachment issues, I'm working on it) and deleting the pictures helps me move on and cut ties. Otherwise, I keep looking at them and thinking about the ex which is super unhealthy and makes it impossible to me on. I also don't need reminders of a relationship that didn't work and was possibly unhealthy. I don't forget the lessons I learned from the relationship, but I don't need reminders of my mistakes. 🤷‍♀️ that's just my take on it.

@@jekylei99 hey! Posting during dating is fine because when you love each other you want to share your happiness with others and to show your significant other off. I don't delete past posts. I just delete the pictures I have saved on my phone or if I have stuff printed out in a photo album. I think of it this way. What if I date someone who still has photos of their exes? While the two of us are together? That would make me somewhat uncomfortable because I would think, why do you still hold on to those memories? Are you not over them? I see the deletion as a reset button. That chapter's done, time to move on and start a new one with someone else and be respectful of my new partner and their feelings. I would also delete my exes off of social media because let's be honest, it is incredibly difficult to be friends with exes. Not impossible, but it is difficult.

@@jekylei99 I thought of an alternative that I've used as well which is to archive the pictures or posts or hide them from timeline. That makes it less permanent during the getting over the ex phase and gives someone the option of undoing it later once they've moved on. I feel like this is a good option for someone who got divorced because, in that case, the ex is someone who was very significant in that person's life (with the exception of an abusive spouse-I'd definitely wipe someone like that straight out of my history). If the divorce is peaceful or the person has been widowed, it's a whole different story. It all depends on the person and on the scenario, I think. With my first ex, I deleted everything tied to us after our breakup because I loved him like I've never loved someone else. I thought we were soulmates and we'd be together forever and having those memories would remind me of the fact that I didn't get my happy ending which just adds salt to a wound. It also didn't end in the most peaceful of ways so I acted quite irrationally. With other people I dated, I kept the pictures because they don't stir up emotions since there was no profound attachment so there wasn't a need to move on. It's also not something that would likely bother a future partner because that person hasn't been a huge part of my life. The more significant a person is in your life, the more likely you are to feel nostalgic about them later on when looking at pictures, years after the breakup and nostalgia isn't good, in my opinion because it's taking a look at the past through rose coloured glasses, you don't see the real picture. You see a snapshot of a long story with no negatives.

Throughout Selena Gomez's career there was never really anything that made her stand out as an artist. She didn't really have much of a personality when it came to her music in her persona. It's not so much that her music was bad it was just very generic. And I know I'm going to say this and sound very anti-feminist but it was really her relationships with Justin Bieber and Abel that kind of made her a little more interesting. So it's not much of a shocker that she would be using that sell her music because realistically she doesn't have much else going for her.

She did lose her marbles. 2005 she had an eating disorder and rumor has it she did drugs with Joel Madden. I was her biggest fan lol. Thankfully she quietly recovered but she's talked about her eating disorder in interviews and how unhappy she was. I saw her in early 2006 and I was so disappointed. She also had a lot of diva attitude at that time. If you google any interview of her 2005-2006 you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm glad she's blossomed into a beautiful, healthy, strong woman.
