I have these same ones, I thought I’d never get them in. I did! Yay Here’s what worked for me- 1. Attach the top part 1st 2. Get a screwdriver & place it between the bottom two prongs& push the screwdriver up while holding the blind in place. 3. Repeat on both sides.

I just installed three blinds with no issues. They must have improved the brackets, they worked so well I couldn’t believe they were attached. Thought I would do an update as I’m very impressed with the blinds, the service as well as the ease of installation. Follow the instructions and you can’t go wrong.

I recently installed mine with no issues. After I mounted the brackets, I dropped the blinds "down", (ie: 3or 4" between the blinds and the head rail) then all I had hold was the head rail. Rolled front to back, it clicked right in. And I only have the use of one arm, so I was very happy.

Looking at the instruction video on line it appears their bracket placement is close to the front of the sill. Your mounted bracket might just be too far back, thus you can’t get tilt the front of the shade bracket up to connect it to the mounted bracket.

My wife and I also have had the same issues. You posted this 12/22/17 and it is now a year later and Select Blinds is still sending out defective brackets even though they know it is defective. They are sending us a new "improved" bracket overnight but the fact that they are still sending out a defective product 11 months later is insane. Thx for posting this video.

Did the new, improved brackets work or are they the same as the old, poorly engineered brackets? I just got my blinds. I wonder why they'd send me the old brackets knowing that"improved" brackets are available?

@@bluewatersouth Hey David. I received the new improved brackets for our blinds and they work as advertised. I think I had all 6 blinds installed in about 2 hours where before, it took me over 4 hours of failing to try to install one blind using the bad brackets. Hope your project went as well for you! On a side note, one of the blinds I received got past QA after being assembled improperly. One end cap was off, the headrail wasn't slid all the way on to the blind and the mechanism didn't work. I had to figure out a fix and repair it before installation.

  • @dan55128
    @dan551285 жыл бұрын

I was able to snap the brackets into the blinds prior to installation. Once the brackets were installed in the head, though, it has been impossible to snap the headrail into the brackets. In the past, I worked with a crew installing blinds and draperies. I've never encountered a problem like this before. In my opinion, the brackets work just as they were engineered; they were just engineered improperly. I'm presently trying to figure out a work-around. It would help if they had someone on their customer service staff who has actually installed one of their blinds and is familiar with installation issues.

For anyone still seeing this issue, the tab in the middle of the bracket just needs to be bent back a bit with some needle nose pliers. This is a manufacturing issue. See this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/qIKWlaqSp8zOYZs.html

In the meantime, try to click in one bracket at a time. This allows each to snap in individually, instead of pushing the head rail into both brackets simultaneously.

Hi Nick, if you send us your order number we can have some new brackets out to you to hopefully solve the issue. If the brackets are screwed in tight, try loosing them a bit so the clip on the front of the bracket can grab the top of the head rail. Let us know if that helps. Thanks.

The problem is that if you don't seat the front screw as far back as possible in the longish front slot, the screw head keeps the spring-loaded tab from going back far enough. I redrilled my holes with a new jig, and the thing went right into place as intended. I just spent a horrible 90+ minutes before my son suggested this. :-)

I ordered these blinds Jan 20 2018. Arrived quickly and of average quality. I have the same bracket issue as Matt. I ordered 4 blinds and came with 12 brackets; 11 of 12 will not clear back lip. I had to buy a dremmel to shave the back metal lip to correct. Select Blinds customer service was of no help. I should have taken a video.

Per their installation video, the brackets are supposed to be mounted nearer the front so you can swing up and clip in from the front. Look for the video where the brunette chick in blue is doing the installation.

You need to bend the back tab down with a pliers. Either before or after you screw them onto the window sill. Otherwise you are eliminating the gap where the back of the shade snaps into. The screws that come with them are not the problem. The video the company sent me was worthless by the way after spending thirty minutes on the phone with them. I figured it out on my own.

Have you clipped the brackets on the head box just to make sure brackets easily can get clipped or not before screwed the brackets up to reveal? If they do clip when try on the floor , the head of the screws you are using are to big so stop the brackets from clipping to head box when you try up there.

The problem is the thickness of the screw head or bolt that is supplied. It keeps the blind from snapping into place. I tried it with a 1.5" Robertson flat head screw and with its thinner tapered shank managed to get it closer to the wall.

I recently bought three motorized shades from select blinds, all 58 inches in length. Before even installing the product I called and asked for the video on how to install and told them I only bought the smart hub, do I need the remote was told no. After install one blind was way too long, was 63 inches not 58. I called select blinds and was told it can be fixed with the remote. I said ok please send me the remote, I was told I had to pay for it. They sent me the wrong product length, if they sent me 58 I wouldn’t need the remote and now they want me to pay for the remote...sounds like a scam they pull to send customers the wrong thing so they have to buy more to get it fixed. Since the blind is too long it bends and lets light in so it’s a pointless blackout blind. I even sent them a pic and video as the blind doesn’t retract all the way. I paid $417 for that particular blind. I do not recommend select blinds, they make a mistake and want the customer to pay for it.

Bending the "hooK" will often do the trick. Also, and this is a little trick to explain, make sure that the "W" shaped spring is placed IN FRONT of the two up-facing tabs on each side. Half the ones I received were not, and none would work until I used needle-nose to pull them over to the front of the tabs. Terrible design altogether. Hope this helps.
