Blows my mind that you can replace the head/pistons for less than the pulse generator+parts if its missing. Really if people looked after these motors better they would never die, just like the honda commercial motors

i learned this trick with old chev halfton differentials..if ya turn off your stick welder hook up the ground of course and slide a rod down into the middle of the broken off bolt ..have a buddie or reach and flip your power on and off really quick.the rod will quickly tack itself to the bolt ..usually a 7018 will stick right to the bolt and it will turn right out ...not if its tight but it works really awesome sometimes in a pinch ...love these old wheelers i got a 250es myself ...most fun i've had

I know the cylinder looks bad but that one looks usable. I guess my motto is try it if it works great if not your going to have to rebuild it anyways. I have unstuck probably a half dozen engines all the same way. Most of the time you dont have to dive into it and take it apart. The guy had a some what idea of what to do but ask any car guy about unseizing an engine it all starts with Marvs Mystery Oil. Ive even heard of Jay Leno using this trick. Ive only had one that I had to take apart but I was going to upgrade the heads anyways and that was on an 4.3 v6. I really didnt even try to get it unstuck I just took the heads off and poured the Oil right in. And trust me The cylinders looked Awful one was full of water. Way worst then that cylinder. I used a scotch brite pad dipped in mystery oil on the bad cylinders to kind of etch and clean the bad rust spots. The funny thing is the one with the worst rust has the highest compression 160 all the rest are around 150. Ok so this is what you do you pour the mystery oil down the cylinder through the spark plug and let it sit. may be over night. then you get a breaker bar with a socket or even by hand Ive done it and and you wiggle the crank back and forth. even if it doesnt budge it wil eventually free you might have to pour more in or even heat the cylinder a little and the oil but it will free up. after its unseized drain oil and all the fluids and replace spark plug etc. Know its time to start and when it first does its going to smoke like an S.O.B. it has to burn of that oil but it should go away eventually. Break it in slowly and when you feel comfortable run the piss out of it to clean out that carbon. Lastly I know this works I had an old Motorcycle I parked outside during the winter got moisture in the cylinders. I tried everything on it even brought it to the dealer thinking that it was the starter. They where like nope its seized you have to rebuild it. My buddy taught me this trick. It took one knight and I hit the starter and it unseized bingo bango. Saved me thousands and I have driven that bike probable 10,000 miles since no problems no smoking etc. runs great hope this helps!

Cool idea to remove the broken bolt, im going to have to try that on a lawn mower i broke a bolt off in. Our 200es had a flooding out carb and along with some nice yellow puke looking oil. The PO also put the timing chain on wrong and it would try and rip your arm off if you pulled it over. When I took the engine apart they must have recently rebuilt it, and it runs amazing in comparison to our worn out 200e. Gotta love getting stuff cheap it was assembled incorrectly, or taken care of poorly.

Ive marked the coil with marker lines on the base, to try to put it back in the exact same spot. but the screws are starting to strip. I stopped b4 actually stripping them. can i just take whole base off ( which everything still hooked up) ?

Thank you sooooooo much for posting these videos! After watching this, I have such a better understanding on what to expect when I dig into my 82. I have a question though, my big red never came with a high/low range lever to switch between the two. So to make due, I screwed in a screw with a nail welded on the top as acting as the lever. It switches smoothly into each range, but the problem I'm having is that it doesn't lock in, it's free to move in and out as it pleases. Do you have any advice as to what to do?

Darrren Betker you can tell by the sub trans that this is a 200es big red. They are shaft drive with reverse. Most likely it is an 84 model because that seems to be the most common year for 200es and the year most 200es's were made.

If you get this, it seems you know what your talking about, I had my Honda rancher 400cc four wheeler sieze up today, for lack of oil. The guy who gave it to me yesterday told me it burned oil but I am ignorant and didn't think to check it this afternoon. Do you have any advice to keep me from having to but another engine. Please call or text (423) 618-6605, or if you would like you can email me dad1012928@yahoo.com thanks and God bless
