Agreed!!! Despite its imperfections, it looks and wears great on wrist. Easily one of Seikos best in years.

I own this watch, runs around +5 seconds a day I love the way the bracelet looks, not tried it on any other strap yet. Thr only negative for me is that its slightly on thr heavy side, apart from that for the money it's a great watch.

Great tip on screwing the crown back in. I never knew that!

This is my most worn watch. The only thing I changed out was that clasp, as the block that covers the divers extension was driving me crazy. To remedy the issue I ordered an 18mm MM300 ratcheting clasp, and added an extra link. Now I have more bracelet and less clasp.

I love this watch...on a rubber strap. The bracelet that came with it is better than most Seiko bracelets but I found it hard to get a good fit. Looks amazing on a NATO or rubber strap.

It’s such a good looking watch. Mine runs at +2 seconds consistently. I love it so much I bought the new 62mas recreation sje093 but not as a replacement because they’re different even though they share the same dna. The only downside is the bracelet which doesn’t taper enough, the clasp and divers extension feel cheap, and the endlinks don’t match the case. Fortunately it looks better on just about any strap. I wear mine on natos and Erika’s MN.

You most certainly can get a brushed matte finished ceramic bezel insert. My 39.5mm Oris Aquis has one.

I purchased one of these, the '101' for $1,200 at the time of their release. From day one it averaged 45-60 seconds slow, daily. After two years I returned it to Seiko's US service center for their recommended periodic maintenance, and when it was returned it's accuracy was within Seiko's spec - for a month before returning to it's 'former self.' I returned it twice more for re-calibration that same year, with little improvement. Each time, it ran within spec, and within a few weeks ran well outside of spec. I truly enjoyed the quality of manufacture and size of the watch, it's a handsome unit; but Seiko's calibre is unreliable and I will never purchase one of their watches with it again . . .

Thank you for sharing your experience. Quite a shame this happened to you. From what I've heard, the 6R35 caliber can become quite problematic when not at full power reserve.

I tried winding the watch to full power first thing every morning, and the result was the same - as much as a minute lost daily. Many have written about their poor experience with Seiko products with its 6R35. I owned two Seikos with the predecessor to the 6R35 (6R15) and never experienced a problem - both kept great time (for an automatic). I have no doubt Seiko's higher end automatics are reliable, accurate products, but for the same money I paid for the '101' I found a handsome, robust, reliable, military diver with a Sellita calibre comparable to the standard ETA that loses only a couple seconds daily . . .

I've actually owned the watch 3 times now, never retail, always preowned. My biggest complaint was/is always the movement. Inaccuracy for the price point. Beautiful watch...I am actually wearing mine right now.

Managed to get the blue birch version of the 143 the 297 check it out it's got a grand Seiko dial almost, without the price, beautiful dial mate and I got it for a great price in the sales about $800

@@watchcrave still bro..not everyone comes with money, i can't buy at 1200 dollars..it's old now so me expecting discounts is realistic. Also the new series came up with 300m water resistance & increased power reserve, better size (for many I guess). Prices hence would drop even further. Just want a number from you or anyone who knows about the right prices for mid or expensive watches like this. Can anyone tell me please?

$1200 and you have to replace the bracelet. One out of two watches that you looked at is misaligned. You would think if they cared about the customer they would go to female and links have a quick, adjust bracelet and get the alignment issue where they’re all perfectly aligned before they leave the factory I think papers just buying that crap that they’re selling for way too much money for what you get.

The bracelet isn't that bad at all I was expecting to change it straight away but didn't have to. Male end links look better and the lug to lug not large anyway I find male end links if not too long help balance the watch.

I don't know. Looks like they are trying to copy the Submariner, just like everyone else and their uncle.

This looks nothing like a submariner thats one of the benefits. Different hands, different markers, different case shape, it has no crown guards like the sub, different crown, signed and embossed caseback unlike subs plain back, different crystal shape etc etc. They are both dive watches with bezels that is the only similar thing
