Old 90's 3D looks dreamlike. Which is fitting for the theme of the game. Journey of Dreams look too "clean" that it makes it more like it is set in the real world than a dream...

Sega consistently came through with the heat on both the arcade and console sides of things. They really had the 90s vg industry on lock and it isn’t debatable imo. Only Capcom, Konami, Namco, and Nintendo really came close. Sonic, Streets of Rage, NiGHTS, etc they pushed the envelope every which way. They were just terrible at business and it is something that plagues them to this day.

@@gchijioke12 Like don't get me wrong, there is a lot to love about Sega in the 90s and they did some great stuff, but everything they did in the second half of the decade failed commercially on the global scale. It sucks too, because I love the Dreamcast so much I named my dog after it.
Never played this, but it certainly gives me that sense of nostalgia that we all experience like a "once in a lifetime" moment.

I miss games that relied on abstract things and surrealism instead of immersion and cinematic experience.
In my opinion, this game is an absolute masterpiece... the controls take some getting used to, but once you master them, its so fluid. Sega actually developed a game-specific controller (the Saturn 3D controller) for Nights which helped tremendously. And yes, once you play through each stage a few times and learn it, you become better at stringing together loops and orbs. You'll wish Nights was even faster... at least I did, lol. On my best run, I got 138 link in the Soft Museum level. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack. Brilliant!

NiGHTS has such a unique playstyle. The fact that this game doesn’t also make money like Sonic does is insulting.
The satisfaction of chaining all those rings and gems was something else. Looking at it now gives a sense of vertigo lol
My favorite game , and game soundtrack. Becoming powerful in our dreams, and overcoming our fears and nightmares. Sonic Teams greatest gift to the Sega Saturn 🪐

Watching the gameplay brings tears to my eyes because it has me thinking back on my childhood and it was an awesome childhood. The 90s was a wonderful decade to me! ❤❤

I love this game ! I'm 32 now and had this when I was younger i remember playing it before bed in the conservatory and the magic it bought to me was just amazing I'm still a big kid at heart ?! I love gaming this game is still awesome
Awww so much happy memoryness! ^^ This was the first console game ever that me and my kids played. It came bundled with the Sega Saturn we bought along with the 3D controller, and my kids (and I) were just fascinated and thrilled with the lovely music and colors. The look and feel of this game was so upbeat, I am glad this was the game that introduced my kids to gaming ^^

Wow, this would have been an amazing introduction to console gaming. Talk about setting the bar high!
I played this game as a kid, and they did such a great job of using the colorful visuals and music to represent one's hopes and fears that it scared the hell out of me for some reason. I bought the game again years later off the Playstation Store as an adult, and it STILL excited those same emotions in me. Truly, an excellent game.
Still have the Saturn and this game with the special controller in the box. Also have this game on the Wii. What a classic epic game
I heard that Shigeru Miyamoto said that this was the only game he was jealous of because he didn’t come up with it.
Man I have a good memory of this game. I was four and my cousin played this for me and help me go to sleep. Honestly it was kind of like a story book and the music was really relaxing.
I played this on my Saturn only on a demo disc, never played the full game. Played it once or thrice or more only when Im bored, never bought the full game because I thought it was too childish for my likings (I was 13 that time). I thought other games were cooler. Today I am 38 years old, and by just watching this, I dont know why tears are welling up my eyes ☹️. This is an unfinished part of my childhood I need to go back to see it’s completion ☺️
I would like to see someone do a video of them exploring the terrain. I always thought that was much more mind blowing, which was just the 3d detail in itself and how the water splashes when you step into shallow puddles and the detail in the lumps and bumps of the terrain. I like that SEGA really went in with the details that didn't really relate to the objective of the game. I guess I'm one of those people who can be fascinated by the most simplist of things.

Looks like a great game. I’ve never had a sega Saturn before nor have I ever played this game before. The nights spinball in casinopolis from sonic adventure brought me here. I would always see the main purple character playing that part in Sonic Adventure on the sega Dreamcast as a kid and always wondered what the game of came from was like. If or whenever I get a sega Saturn, I’ll definitely get this game alongside sonic R, sonic 3D blast and sonic jam

Story: An androgynous, jester-like creature from the Nightmare world called NiGHTS, rebels against their own kingdom to protect the world of dreams. They have the assistance of two kids who are having a hard time in their lives. Gameplay: At the beginning of the levels, the Nightmarens steal colorful dream energy orbs, which are the source for the creation of dreams, and lock them inside a jellyfish-like machine. The goal to recover them. To do this, you need to collect 20 blue spheres.
Despite the early 3D graphics being somewhat dated, I think that the game's colorful artistic style still shines through, nonetheless.

Everyone saying they don't understand it probably never read the instructions. It is actually quite a simple mechanic but it is not like everything else and quite creative.
