This was my 4th console at the time of release. Used to love the 3d LCD shutter glasses with Outrun 3D. Bloody brilliant lad. Thanks lad.

Master system 2 is more convenient in terms of size and shelf space but model 1 just looks so sleek and is a whole lot more pleasing to the eye. I love the model 1

I owned a Master System 2 and i absolutely loved it. Some of my favourite games for the Console were - Prince of Persia Submarine Attack Alex Kidd in Miracle World Wonder Boy 3 - The Dragon's Trap Sonic Sonic 2 Champions of Europe Speedball Excellent video, very nostalgic. Cheers 👍

My first console was the MS1 with hang on and safari hunt built in. It was 79.99 if i remember rightly. I first came across one due to buddy owning one via winnin a competition - very early one is the joypads had screwin joystick tips on the d pad. Cord runnin out the side. He had global defense (sometimes known as SDI) on cartridge and hang-on on card.

16:03 wow ! enduro racer ! pretty nice arcade conversion to the console . I'm just surprised that many arcade hits were ported to 8 bits consoles , but never to 16 bits . example you have SNK arcade hit king of fighter on the Original game boy , but not on super Nintendo that is more powerful

Great video, thanks! I loved my Master System, but I sold it and a dozen games so that I could buy a Genesis. At the time however, Sega was giving away the Power Base Converter with purchase of the Genesis. So I've been playing my SMS games that I did keep ever since. My friends that owned the NES were always impressed by the better graphics and color palette. Not to mention we could play Double Dragon, not Single Dragon as we called the Nintendo version.

That Sega Master System Compendium is freaking rad! For reference- You can connect the Master System II to a modern Samsung screen. My Samsung QLED 4KUHD has a strange audio jack in the back. You connect this audio jack thing that has connectors for AV/Component/RF Coax. What's crazy is it makes retro games look...incredible. it puts them automatically in the right aspect ratio and the colors pop-off the screen like firecrackers. My Neo Geo AES is permanently connected to my screen in our (fiancee and I) bedroom. Addendum- I wanted to mention the strange retro connector on my newish screen. I know my fiancee has a Sharp Aquos 4K something, something that was equally higher end but it lacks any coax, AV, and or component hookups. It doesn't have any RGB connectors either but my Samsung does!

That's super interesting because I have a Samsung QLED 4KUHD TV! I will have to investigate it now. I am working on a second version of my Master System Compendium that will have loads of extra content.

The classic master system. It didn't do too well in the U.S in sales, but it's still a bad ass 8-bit system.

Did anyone else have issues with their Master System having controller connection issues? The ports getting loose over time?

It´s a common issue with older consoles. Cleaning the pins can help or you might need to reflow the solder joints.

I have been debating on whether to get a Master System or a Power Base Converter, as I've found some local shops that sell either on occasion. I think part of the reason I hold back is the debate of trying to find the FM Sound Expansion for the Master System, or just accepting the default music as good enough. It really seems like a worth while console to get into regardless of the sound quality.
