This is my Gods and Monsters duo with Jeff Buckley in which I am playing all the guitars, an acoustic Gibson J-45 from 1946 and using pedals to create the raga loop sound capes--Jeff is handling the vocals. We came together to pay tribute to Jeff's father Tim Buckley at St Ann's Church in Brooklyn in 1991, and Jeff and I went on to co-write "Grace", and "Mojo Pin",and about a dozen Lucas/Buckley songs in all, some of which have still never been officially released. Gary, i'm reading your book and its realy great love it I wonder Is there any recording of all that show from 1991? Greeings from israel

"Trying too hard to be like dad"? Do you know anything of their (basically non-existent) relationship? Tim had next to nothing to do with Jeff, which of course didn't make Jeff too fond of him for a while. He spent his short life doing everything he could to NOT be "like" or compared to his father. In the end he came to peace with it and forgave Tim, but in no way did he try to be like him. He detested those comparisons. Jeff wasn't capable of doing ANYTHING *without* complete conviction.

Jeff performed this at a tribute concert for his dad Tim, he wasn't trying to be like him, he didn't need to, Jeff was a unique, exceptionally gifted artist in his own right, of course, if ye like his dad best, that's up to you, however, in my opinion, Jeff super-ceded his dad, who by the way, I consider to be fantastic, so, where does that put Jeff? in a league of his own, that's where! only my opinion, but we're all entitled to them, aren't we? cheers
