SO it refreshing for a Camera professional who not a 'smooth as silk youtuber' giving a good review to the product. On the other hand your equipment is far nicer than my application. First. I'm an Oldtimer (63) and the eyes are not what they once were! I love most things about my 3 Sony camera but the LCD screens STINK! I wanted something I could use that was bigger I started with the Atomos Shugun on my Sony A74. Then I found out it would not work on my FX3 or FX30..So when the SeeMo came out I got it took it apart and use it with the iPAD mini. The iPAD is larger screen than the SHogun and is much thinner! The lack of charging hasn't been that big of a deal. For the Pro iPad somebody makes a USB-C to the three connector on the back of the PRO I just can remember where I saw that. My iPAD pro with KEYBOARD has the standard thunderbolt port but the keyboard has a charging port (USB-C) on it...

Hey all, looks like the SeeMo Pro SDI announced at NAB 2023 pretty much addresses my biggest beefs with the original SeeMo. I'll be getting one asap, looks like it'll suit my needs perfectly.

I really wish it would allow the option to apply LUTS when making the h.264 file instead of only for preview purposes.

great review ! This is the same setup i was looking for, this is great !! About the charging while using, yeah, i completely agree with you, if they could provide a Data + Power into the single usb-c cable, that would make this transmitter, an instant buy for me. For iphone, you can have a work around, using the usbc output to a magsafe charger, so you place the seemo to the side and use the magsafe puck the charge the phone, but on the ipad i can't think of a solution right now, other than using a dock (?) but that comes with it's downsides as well thanks a lot for sharing it ! About the quality of the image, a lower bitrate can be great if you are using it for live transmissions on a 4g network, you can have a smoother experience !

You can get an npf dummy battery for this and run it off a v-mount or a straight wall plug. That is a simple fix for powering this.

You misunderstand the problem. The problem wasn't that I couldn't figure out how to power the SeeMo. At the time, the iPad had no way to stay charged via the USB-C used to connect to the SeeMo. The iPad would run out of power at about 6 hours. Since this review, I have been told that the SeeMo will now (with a firmware upgrade) provide charging current to the iPad over its USB-C connection.

My hope would be, that the new camera cage incorporates those 3 pins for the magic keyboard and lets us charge the iPad with that from the 5V USB-C charge port on the Seemo. That would solve the issue.

Great review! How long will the iPad battery keep the screen on? Do the app drain battery heavily? Also, might it be possible to connect the SeeMo to a Macbook pro? If one is running the app in MacOS.

thank you for your inspirational practical introduction to an interesting product I also use sometimes.. (with an iPhone) meanwhile the offer the Seemo PRO - but the problem you were addressing remains: I think that is not a problem caused by Accsoon but by Apple by concept: you cannot transfer data AND charge the iPhone at the same time with their lighting port, perhaps also not with upcoming USB C connections... it also could be a kind of hardware problem, e.g. visible with the "latency" Apple needed to realize an always on display the best solutions for a pro: buy two older iPhones / iPads only as displays which can be swapped within seconds;-(👍👍👍

Hi great video , personally I don’t need this for video however can this be used just for stills? , as I’m looking to use my iPad as a larger screen for nailing focus in live view on a Nikon DSLr ? TIA

It is brilliant device. I agree. No other USB UVC Capture Card provides H.264 encoded images to iOS devices. all others are based on obsolete MJPEG or YUV420, which are less efficient bandwidth usage and have lots of image artifacts. If it was based on USB 3.2 gen2 or Thunderbolt 3, I would be very happy because it means less compressed or even uncompressed signal transmission is capable with those bandwidth, but I am still satisfying with this lossy codec. visually loseless… in 1x inch size screen. that‘s the key and SeeMo does their job.

I investigated this. There’s actually no MagSafe capability on iPads (yet). There are 3 contacts on the back for the Magic Keyboard that can support charging, but so far only the Magic Keyboard interfaces with them and I’d like to have a cage around the iPad. I suspect a fix for all of this is coming soon.

I have tried cheap USB-C "dongle" type splitters, a USB-C hub, and a OWC Thunderbolt 3 hub. The app cannot see the SeeMo through any of them :-/

@@TheNateweaver Aha I see. Another idea pop into my mind. I am not sure if all these new iPad have or not. You know the iPad Pro has three dots or metal contact at the back of them and the Apple Keyboard for iPad Pro has three pins as well, and there is a usb c port on the left side of the keyboard on the hinge. So that port is sold for charging. And your type C port on the iPad can be connected to SeeMo. A very expensive way but I think should work.

@@zhumingiphone4 it does. I have the Magic Keyboard and have tested it, you can charge using it and the SeeMo at the same time, problem is, for me, the iPad is not safe with the Magic Keyboard on this cart using only magnets to attach it to the keyboard, and then nothing attaching the keyboard to the cart. I kinda need the Accsoon cage too. The real bummer is they JUST released a new cage as well meant for the SeeMo, but they did not address any of this 😕
