Seeding Millet to Save our Field!

Just when we thought we were finished seeding for 2024, one of our sorghum Sudan fields died from 4 frost events, wireworm and cutworms, and gopher damage! let's seed some millet into it to try and save our field!

Just keep doing what you are doing. The strugles and the remidees are real and also entertaining (in a good way), playing the hand you're dealt is what farming is all about. I enjoy the different equipment and types of equipment along with perspectives and positive attitude of your channel. Thanks for sharing!

Can only piss with the 🐔 you were given 🤣Seems this weather been messed up all over, we are in Scotland and normally March & April is seeding time but this year we were late may for combinable cereals and arable silage mind June. Rained since end of September and snowed in June!

Like how you can seed two crops at once. We crop and grow hay on 2,500 acres Willow Tree Australia

Hello there. Is the Fastrac a much smoother ride. Are you able to go faster in a somewhat rougher field than your tractors? I enjoy your channel very much.

Yes absolutely @tommcgrafy8260. Those 2 reasons alone are we switched from traditional format front wheel assist tractors, along with our dealer support.

Boy, between the worms, frost, and gophers that poor crop didn’t stand a chance. The only thing you were missing was grasshoppers……. Farming can sure wear on a guy sometimes for sure. Fellow I bought bulls off of had planted sorghum up here in northern Alberta, figures he lost his to frost too, figures he’s gonna slam some oats in to make some greenfeed. I’ll watch whatever you decide to put out, interesting how you tackle producing feed.

Thanks so much for the comment @chad tosh6831! It's been a tough spring, but as much as this field failed, we have several that look pretty good, so we will focus on the positives!

Hello I have a question why you seeding Crops like Sudangrass or Millet have you in your area problems of not enough rain in the summer ?

Thanks for watching our videos! We have been in a pretty bad drought for the last 3 years, and we're looking for something drought tolerant that could still make good forage. We didn't expect this spring to be wetter than average, our Long Term summer forecasts were SUPPOSED to be hot and dry, again.....

They are a welcomed sight given this situation, they are actually chasing the cutworms, which came to the surface after the disc, and we are currently having problem with in the field. Nature was working with us for a chamge! Haha
