True i heard at Gettysburg that the last one would vaporize people, one minute they would be marching then they would disappear in a red cloud.
youtube's shit search and suggestion is the reason this isn't at 5 million + views. Loved this!
"I have cannonballs for lunch" LOL
Great video. To see the piece cut in half is amazing thanks.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing Steve!
Thank you Gig, great video !!!!!!!!
Nice display you have made up, I used to make similar displays when I worked in a defense plant. The inner workings are always neat to see !
Very informative video. Thanks for teaching.
Nice job Gigmaster👍 That was very interesting, always nice to learn something new.
Wow, awesome. Thanks for sharing that Gig.
Very interesting segment, thank you
Awesome idea and video. Thanks, Gig.
Thank you, i seen a article where someone was restoring one and it exploded. Now that i know it wasnt a solid ball, it must of been one with the marbles in it because they say pieces were found up to a 1/4 mile away. 🤷🏾♂️
Thanks for the information
Thank you for a great video Gigmaster
Thanks for the update
very cool idea and thanks for showing us. Take care and keep up the good work
Just love your videos those cut cannonballs are way cool. Thanks for sharing.
Good information. Thanks for sharing Steve.
This was a great video! I actually learned something I didn't know before. Thanks!
Hello good morning thanks for the info on cannon balls I always enjoy all videos I thought they were solid 👍
Great video, thanks!
That is very cool Steve!
More soldiers lost their legs during the Civil War than in any other war. This is why.
Can you direct us to a video of the disarming and cutting of cannon balls? Great 1st step video!
Excellent vid by Gig. Thx S. Growing up in Panama, the Canal Zone, as kids, we would free dive the mouth of the Chagres River, at the base of fort San Lorenzo. There is a lagoon on the ocean and river side. We would find cannon balls, cannons by themselves or clumped together and other relics by simply using our swim fins to fan away the sand. Tons of clay pipe bowl ends. Cigarette butts of that age we would say. However, dad had a freind that attempted to cut a canon ball in half. It didn’t go well. He wore peppered skin the rest of his days. It fired up as he was cutting it, not explode, but lit up. Be careful! That fort saw quite a bit of action.

I’m assuming he tried to cut it in half with an angle grinder? Hot sparks into the power chamber? He is lucky to only have peppered skin. The safest way to cut one in half that hasn’t been disarmed is with a water jet cutter.
Its good to hear how these old timers really used the weapons, I wonder how many confederates he got.
great information here! thanks for sharing
really cool to see those Thanks for the vid
Very informative!! Thank you
Great video.
Really good informative vid! Always wondered what kind of cannonballs were used other than just the solid lead one's. Must of been a sight to see when these things went off, don't know if it is something you would want to see be used against personnel but still must be impressive...
The arms race started in pre-history. It's unstoppable.
perfect vid, nice and short, very informative and interesting
Great
Neat. Thanks for sharing
Good information
Wow... It's true what they say... "People get creative during war time."
Aaaaaah. NOW I get it. The top part is just metal and doesnt burn. But underneath those numbers is something that can catch fire. So if you remove the metal at some part it exposes that thing that can be ignited. And then when it is engulfed in flames it'll start at those exposed ends. Both burning, but one with a dead end and the other towards the actual inside of the shell! Thank you very much!
Very cool!
I love this dude‘s accent
Great set of balls there Gigmaster.

Nice video Master👍 i love to hear your pronounciation sounds like Russel Hitchcock of AS
Thanks for that. I’m guessing you drilled a hole in the bottom to drain the powder first? Or were the already empty? Also wow I would not want to be in the way of one of those things!
I wonder has any cannon balls ever exploded while still inside the barrel🤔
Very good
How do you get the gunpowder and fuse in and seal it off?
😎 cool
Wow cool. The last cannonball you showed with the case shot, was that black tar stuff holding all the case shot together the original stuff, or after he disarmed it, did he pour that stuff in for display purposes?

That's what I want to know too!
Very intetesting.
They must have marked them to tell the difference between the 5.
How can i contact you for more detailed information, sir?
You said that you had somebody disarm them for you. Was there any gunpowder left in any of the cannonballs before you cut them open? I think you said that you were in the Navy. Did you get your nickname as the gigmaster for piloting the captain's gig?

LEO-THE-DIGGER The cannonballs were defused before cutting. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGqg0KWFYLmdeMY.html
I’m trying to find the origin of the cartoon trope of bombs. That look like this 💣 lol I can’t find any real solid information on where that comes from so this video is the closest I can find
What kind of steel are they made of. How did you cut them in half? Is there any chance that they could blow up while cutting them?
@Gigmaster

Doug Tisdale No they were disarmed.
How did they manufacture hollow iron sphere's?

Good question
Did these cannonballs have gunpowder them?

William Paxton Not now. 😂

But I mean before they were cut open was the gun powder inside still alive or was it inert? We don't generally find cannonballs out here in Los Angeles when we water hunt so please forgive the dumb questions!
@Gigmaster

No dumb question. Yes they did have powder in them. One I know had water infused in it when the guy cut it open which would make that one inert but Not sure about the others.
What's that solid in the k shot
