SEE PIGLETS BEING BORN!

See piglets being born! Our sow Brownie had her piglets in the middle of the night, and we filmed the birthing process. I also explain the best ways we have found to farrow pigs.

Pete speaking about pigs eating anything one rainy day a frog made its way into our farrowing house and started hopping across the floor, i'd never seen a pig run so fast to catch and gobble up that frog like it was her favorite treat.

Pete, I’m glad you and Hillary were there to make sure that Brownie’s new piglets were safe and sound - it’s worth losing a little sleep because it brings you peace of mind. The new setup with the barrier and heat lamps is a wonderful solution that will hopefully keep the sow from laying on her piglets.

What a wonderful event, even if I've seen it many times, I never get tired of watching new ones being born. Brownie is a great mom and her litter is looking real good. You know Pete, it seem to me like the little runts always have the loudest voices, now that I think about it, seems that way with all animals, humans alike. Ha Ha! Great video, loved it. I remembered back when I was a young man in FFA(1992) and being there for the first litter of piglets. Its an emotional moment. Where all my efforts spent raising the sows depended on me being there all night. Even after playing a football game a few hours earlier. Farming is a 24/7 commitment. Good video.

It helps me to keep working towards our goal of getting out of the city and consolidating all our animals on our own piece of land. It really is wonderful that Pete let's us all in on these events when things could go so wrong and so many viewers would not understand what had to be done. As a 10 yr old I had a friend sleep over and my dog had her pups. One was stillborn,. My friend got frantic and wouldn't believe we could not take the pup to the hospital. I am sad that to this day I think it was her first contact with death. Glad Pete and Hillary had a better outcome.

Hey Pete and Hilary ! It's been a while since I last commented.. Thanks for taking time to share the birth of Brownies piglets with us . It is very exciting to watch life on the farm. City living is not our cup of tea but unfortunately that's where we live. Not too big of a city but a lot of traffic...we love the rural life we have up north Michigan for our escape to our cottage and 17 wooded acres with a large food plot that we farm for fun. Well haveca very Merry Christmas and blessings from.our Lord to.you and all of your loved ones always ! Stay healthy and productive ! We love and admire y'all! ! You are a funny guy! Good for you Hillary and (late arriving) Pete, you just have to be there as you well know. My older brother had several sows when in FFA, we spent many nights sleeping and waiting in the farrowing barn. He always clipped their teeth and did something to their cords, can't remember exactly what but I think he dipped them in a disinfectant. When he went away to college I converted the farrowing barn to a finishing floor.
