7:40 You fell for the “door in the face” sales technique. The first offer is supposed to be so bad it’s offensive so that the next offer seems reasonable, even though it’s still a bad deal.

8,000 points is about 1.5 weeks in high season, 1-bedroom. You could buy that resale in Las Vegas for about $1,500 or less. We bought 5,440 points off Ebay, $1,100 per year in maintenance. That's enough points to stay 6 nights in Waikiki off season one year, and 4 weeknights in Las Vegas the opposite year. We're not knocking it out of the park, but we're still saving a little money, and especially staying in nicer resorts vs a 3 star hotel. Wouldn't be worth it to us unless we lived near the West Coast. We also own Club Wyndham. The properties aren't as fancy, and the presentations are more aggressive, but they can be vastly more lucrative. We bought Kona and Sedona, where hotels cost $300+ per night, to really stretch out the value.

A very similar experience for us, except for the I don't agree that we were not pressured- not rude, but kept trying to negotiate a number we would bite on. They got it down to several smaller packages they offered, but it was still just way to big of a commitment financialy. They also kept brining another lady in to try to close. I was annoyed that it took 4 hours and was cutting into our day. That being said, we also opted for the $1695 package, for another vacation- which isn't bad considering they supposedly give you luxury rooms. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi @kevinmach730 sorry to hear you were pressured! That is so uncomfortable! We will be attending another presentation next week. We were going to use our package to go to Hawaii but things change, so we are just using it here in Orlando. I'll post a new video in a couple weeks and let everyone know any changes. Thanks for the comment!

We’re currently a day away from our HGV presentation in Oahu. They booked us at the Doubletree Alana. Our presentation is a block away at the Modern Honolulu (recently bought by HGV). I lived on Oahu for 10 years so I was already familiar with the Hilton properties. The Doubletree is 3 ⭐️ at best and has absolutely no beach views. It is currently under renovation so our balcony is currently inaccessible. Looking forward to seeing what I can’t afford at my presentation!

You can also go to Maui, and Lake Tahoe. There are properties not in the book. Make sure you book 9 months in advance for Hawaii. If you need a two bedroom for four nights on a big island and three nights on a small island they will give you the run around. “Oh, dates will not line up, or we can downgrade you to a one bedroom.” So if you are traveling with four or more people they will want half of your trip for you to have to pack into a smaller room. Less hassle and more flexibility to go independently of them. VRBO has good deals and other sites.

Oahu is nice but you could do that island for less days... I'd recommend going to Wakoloa on the Big Island and spend those days checking out all the things you can do for day trips across that island.

I literally just got an email offering 4day/3night +50,000 points for $249 vacation. This has been so helpful. I’ve had some anxiety about how the presentation works. The email only says one 2hr presentation. Do you schedule the presentation or do they tell you when? Hoping to pair it with Disney. They also said you have to meet an income requirement or else you have to pay the difference of your stay 🤷‍♀️

  • @yolofamilytravels

Hello @Erica Heidinger! Glad you found the information useful! They pick the day and time of the presentation for you. I'm not sure about the income requirement. I would definitely ask about that before I booked it. My husband is the one who was approached and purchased the offer so I'm not sure if they mentioned an income minimum to him. I would definitely not want to be responsible for the price difference in your stay.

Not sure but just bought mine for $7,800 for Elara with less point/studio for one week and that’s a steal if you own it for life but I’m from Hawaii take note you can book every where in the world for faction of price, jusTry ask them if they can give you a lower price I’m staying at HGV maui bay villa promise you totally worth it, it will pay its own if your planning to have a trip for another 20 years I lmk I will send you a break down lmk

Obviously, if you were to purchase and finance, all that information would be collected and verified.

Most of the Hilton resorts in the high seasons cost 500$- 1300$ per night so a 6 day trip if you just paid cash would cost 3-8400$ for just the lodging that is why t has that cost. Tnl- wyndham and Hilton have the best resorts in my opinion. @@yolofamilytravels

Was calling recently for something different and they offered this to me today. $300 (357 or so with tax) for the period of time isn't too bad. Glad to hear it's not a high-pressure event, at least. I have little interest in buying a timeshare. For one, not near at that price. 8k points or something is something like 10 days (i think, from what I've seen in other videos) at places. The cost, plus there's some kinda maintenance fees also a part of the whole thing, really make this whole idea seem ill advised. One video had maintenance at 1200 a year. So if you use all your points, most optimally, maybe you'd pay off the deed (or use it all up and get your money worth) in a good 10 or so years. Apparently you can sell these shares, but yeah I don't know. Just seems pointless to me.

Hey so, if you need some advice and have never been to Hawaii I can offer you some tips: 1.) go to Oahu, it’s the best island to visit for someone who’s never been before 2.) fly delta don’t fly American American is awful 3.) when visiting Hawaii make sure to check out Pearl Harbor it’s an incredible sight to visit and very emotional and moving 4.) if you enjoy hikes then definitely checkout diamondhead trail beautiful view and you can see the whole island 5.) go to a luau it’s an authentic Hawaiian experience you won’t wanna miss 6.) spend as much time as you can on the beach the water is like walking into a warm salt bath it’s really incredible

I am a Diamond member with Hilton and an owner with HGV. The points system is not the same as the Hhonors points system. There is no comparison between the 2 whatsoever. We’ve been owners for a couple years now and we’ve already been able to take about $10,000 worth in resort stays with our ownership and we haven’t paid much more than that for our lifetime ownership so you really have to weigh out your needs for vacations and see how to best utilize it. We’ve literally been to Myrtle Beach twice, Gatlinburg, Branson, and just got off of a plane earlier this week from Park City, UT. We have a 10 night booked in HI in 2024 and another Smoky Mountain trip in the fall. And just for the record, we don’t have a lot of points. About what you were talking about getting in your video so you just have to know how to best maximize the points to stretch. I can agree that they are not pressuring at all in the sales pitch. They are always helpful and answer any questions you may have. And the accommodations are far superior to anything you will find in their brands of hotels.
