See Ingenuity’s Flight Map: 72 Helicopter Flights on Mars
Ғылым және технология
NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter became the first vehicle to achieve powered, controlled flight on another planet when it took to the Martian skies on April 19, 2021. This video maps the location of the 72 flights that the helicopter took over the course of nearly three years. Ingenuity far surpassed expectations - soaring higher and faster than previously imagined.
Designed to be a technology demonstration that would make no more than five test flights in 30 days, Ingenuity eventually flew more than 14 times farther than the distance expected, and logged more than two hours of total flight time. It flew for the final time on Jan. 18, 2024.

One day we will pick it up and put in the museum on mars.

Build around it, never move it
This is an amazing presentation. I had no idea Ingenuity traveled so far. This really puts the flights into perspective. Best wishes from Vermont 🍁
Congratulations Ingenuity! 👍
I mean... Hats off to the ingenuity team. What an achievement
This whole journey has been amazing. I remember watching the launch. Kept up with it ever since.
You were amazing ingenuity. One day we will meet you and hopefully fix you again.
Bravo to the Ingenuity team! (and give whoever made this a raise)
NASA, the GOATs of 'underpromise, overdeliver'
It actually covered a sizable amount of Martian land. Well done, Ingenuity!
Ginny, you exceeded all our expectations. You were amazing.
What a legacy our little helicopter leaves behind! It will go down in history. The first powered, controlled flight on another world.
That puts it into perspective, such an amazing demonstration that will shape exploration in the near future. I knew you would do it but honestly didn’t think you would exceed the main objective as much as you did. Congratulations!
So much more successful than ever imagined. To design a craft for another world and fly it without maintenance or assistance on the first try is phenomenal engineering
I chose for Ingenuity as a research subject for my university team. We just finished presenting our research all the way from conceptual design to preliminary design review, and it fascinating how much we learnt about Ingenuity. Simply fascinating.
Once again, NASA exceeds expectations. Well done Ingenuity!
For the rest of the world who uses metric, that was approx. 16.8km that the little helicopter flew.
I honestly didn't realise just how far it flew! For a test mission that was expected to do just a few hops bravo to the Ingenuity team for a monumental achievement
That`s really impressive ! Thank you for this animation.
This is absolutely awesome!! Congratulations to the team at NASA for this amazing feat.
Outstanding work!
Nice job! Ingenuity! We'll have to come collect you sometime.
Simply outstanding! 🌌
What a goer...

Congratulations! Can we have the same vid with the movement of Perseverance too?
Thanks for the awesome video
That is truly amazing
Great summary for Ingenuity. Were all those 72 flights within Jezero crater?🤔
Can't wait for the next gen of flying explorers on Mars!
Incredible!
Amazing achievement. Epic in scope and accomplishment. 🖖🤩👍👍👍 P.S. Never trust dunes.
I would like to see the path traveled by the rover in that time frame as a comparison.
What a trailbreaker!
The little copter that could!
The little copter that could 😎
Well done for setting an other worldly precedent 🎉
Said it before, and I'll say it again. They sure build 'em good in Pasadena.
So it flew 10.5 Miles!? Now that's some distance and the proof of the pudding we humans can do stuff when we decide to do so. Thank you for sharing an incredible journey.
Amazing
what is the distance (straight line) from the rover? Ingenuity was communicating with the rover and Perseverance with us?
Pretty cool!
So incredible 😲👏👏👏
It might have felt great for the scientists to see success of their innovation which was sent as an experiment became a full operational participant in the mission.
What a magnificent, magnificent success!❤❤❤
Recpet and good luck 🍀
do we have footage of the flights themself? does it have a camera onboard to record a path it took . is that footage released? i wasnt able to look for them.

Yes. NASA has released all footage from it in their archives. But you can just look up youtube videos of it, that's much easier.

Well, they just yesterday approved the Dragonfly mission to put an even larger flyer on Titan.
It’s not a rover, it’s a chopper baby!
Well done, Ingenuity!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Who took the picture tracking ingenuity path! If this possible than no need ingenuity to take photos of mar.
great investment
Why does a lot of people (myself included) anthropomorphise this machine ?
I thought it was video make from heli. But here just virtual presentation
😅😮😅😮😅😮😅😮😅😅😮😅well information good show you 😅😅

too fast, slow it down and also add images with every fly. Like you guys did with oppy video. add images in half screen and other shows this one. thankx. Also if there is a video by stiching images add that too.

If you actually mean that, then... great! I'm glad you're fighting for the cause! Just look at a pie chart of your government's budget and think again about where the waste is, because the waste isn't in the pennies NASA gets.

Has someone / something given you the idea that we can't stop poverty & explore our universe at the same time? One glance at the U.S. federal budget might be enlightening.
