Securing FMIC charge pipes on your Fiesta ST

A friend and I were chatting the other day about how to secure your charge pipes so I decided to make a video and share what I've done. With 300whp for the last 11,000 miles my pipes have never come loose since this solution was installed and I drive like a banshee.
Let me also say that I believe in some cases that these hot side pipes come loose because they are helped by lubrication - blow by will cause oil to build up in this pipe quickly. In my case, I've installed a catch can it is dry inside. No blow-by oil, no lubrication, less chance of it working/blowing loose.

I just put on some T-bolt clamps, can tighten those way more without damaging them, obviously shouldn't tighten them to the point you start breaking the hoses or pipes, but I've had zero issues with them and even if you take them of and put them back on 20 times they are still in perfect condition, which i can't say for the cheap worm drive clamps which caused me quite some headaches. The t-bolt clamps are a bit finicky when it comes to size though, you really should measure before you buy, if you got one that is half a inch to large or small it's not gonna work

Thank you Jeff!!! Need to get a decal of the outline of a WRX Sti with a circle and a line through it indicating a “kill,” just like the fighter pilots put on after a dog fight.

I just noticed a “whistle” sound coming from the RIGHT side of my car when WOT in 3-6th, nothing when not WOT. Never noticed this and it’s not the BOV sound from intake on left side of car. It Just started last 1k Miles. I’m gonna try the double clamp on the hot side pipes. Mountune installed their FMIC + pipes in October. I haven’t tried tightening them but will ...Thanks for video, I’ll post back

My FiST was bone stock at 11,000 miles, no tune at all, and blew the hot side pipe off the intercooler. It's just a shitty clamp or factory install. Thanks for the video.

this has happened twice to me and this is only after cobb accessport and cobb fmic and it's not a happy feeling when you lose boost. thanks man I'm gonna add extra hoses where you suggest to do so and that's that. No hairspray lol.

Yeah I wouldn't hairspray that's pretty permanent. Try a few extra clamps. Be careful no risky passing if that thing blows off when you're in the other lane you could die quickly.

Hey man, I got a Pierce 6 point chassis brace as well. Did you have any issues with clearance with lowering springs? Im planning on doing the Swift with Bilstein B6. I think its about a 30mm drop all around.

No issues at all no rubbing or anything anywhere. That said I'm not sure how your swifts/B6 will compare to my Mountune drop. The 6 point does hang pretty low though but as long as I'm careful there's no problem so far and it's been nearly a year. That 6 point is one of the best mods by far that I've done to this car.

My cobb kit was missing some hardware and didn't really fit in the best. The bracket on the hotside pipe definitely isnt placed the best because I couldn't fit the kit silicone coupler I hat to cut my oem cold side hose and use it but it's holding. Are you sure you've seen pipes with no mount because I'm thinking I might just cut my mount to get a better fitment.

@@gray25xt that's weird because my cobb kit has a mount on the hard pipe the intercooler is just a little higher on the hotside too for some reason. The hard pipe just touches the rubber of the ac line in hoping no proplems happen longterm. Eventually want to do a hybrid turbo and velossa tech big mouth so I'm not really looking to take the bumper off till then

I am not sure. They are about the same size and quality as the factory clamps. Just cheap from Autozone. Like I said before, I really think that the reason the hot side charge pipe blows off is because it is lubricated by blow-by. A catch can will solve that problem, and extra clamps will help.
