I'm excited about all the destinations you guys will be going to! Travel is not only fun, but expansive in so many ways. And I'm glad your husband is involved in homeschooling.

Thanks for calling out the tendency of so many homeschool groups/writers/content creators etc. seem to have of assuming all homeschooling families have a mom doing the schooling. Implicit in that assumption, I think, tends to be the corresponding assumptions that all homeschool families also have a dad working to support the family. There are so many homeschool families out there whose families or set-ups don’t look like that prevailing narrative, from families with LGBTQ parents to single-parent families to to families where both parents do some work and some schooling to families headed by a mom and a dad where the mother works and the father is educating the kids full-time. While we may be in the minority, there are still so many of us out here, and it’s so nice when influencers in the homeschool space intentionally make space for us in their content. 🎉

YES! So many assumptions are made about homeschoolers. We are a diverse group and we need more realistic representation online, especially for those in the minority that feel alone in their homeschool community. I am fortunate that where we live we have a diverse group of families that homeschool, but I know that is not how it is in other parts of the country or even the world.

I'm loving the 3 Body Problem show and had to start the book. So far its just as good, lots more detail. Then I went down a rabbit trail trying to learn more about China's Cultural Revolution and finding historical fiction and nonfiction books about that. I have a never ending TBR list 😆

Have you watched the Chinese version of the show? I think it's just called Three Body and is on Prime. It's on my watch next list (my TBR is waaaaay too long 😂.) And Farewell My Concubine was my first introduction to the Cultural Revolution, I was obsessed with that movie as a teen.

This was very enjoyable to watch. I quite understand the need to take a break from being on that hamster treadmill in making more and more content. As an information consumer, I was getting overwhelmed with these discussion on curriculum choices for next school year. I got my pending picks but I don't want to overanalyze the decision, when we don't get our funds until mid-to-late August, so I too am trying to take a break from the opposite end. 😅 How do you manage a 3 day homeschooling schedule? And what does that look like?

April to October is when homeschool youtubers get the most views, and curriculum choices are ALWAYS a big hit. That's why you're seeing a ton of videos coming out now. I contemplated doing my curriculum videos early, but the school year is not over and I don't really want to think about next year yet 😆 Plus, I'm gently switching my content to not be so homeschool focused. As for our 3 day-ish homeschool schedule: Monday - no school, Tuesday - daily work (math, reading, writing) and classes, Wednesday - daily work & classes, Thursday - self directed learning center for my younger kids and daily work, science & history for oldest son, and Friday - deep dives (history or science kits, field trips, geography tea time, etc.) or no school (depends on how we are all feeling from the week.) P.S. I'm currently filming a week in our life that showcases this.

Thanks! My current season of life is a little chaotic, so I need some restructuring in our routine. Love the idea of doing a 3.5 school days per week schedule. Not sure it is possible yet for my little one. I look forward to your videos showcasing this and a review of Home Science Tools - Science Unlocked kits. I dont think I have seen anyone talked about using this, especially when on the website it says it is a full year curriculum, so I am intrigued.

Yeah, I haven't seen many folks talking about Science Unlocked. We really love it, and I'm probably going to switch my younger kids to it next school year.

I have a random question! What products do you use on your hair/how do you style it (put your products in on dry hair vs. wet hair, etc)??? I have similar curls and am always trying to make them look nice like yours :)

Hi! I hope this explanation isn't too complicated - I don't use any fancy shampoos or conditioners (I wash every 2-3 days), I apply Miss Jessie's Multicultural Curls when I get out of the shower and air dry (if I diffuse dry then my hair would be even curlier), and I double french braid my hair at night to keep the curls. I also add a little more of Miss Jessie's if my hair looks too dry or starting to frizz on non wash days. And once a week I apply extra virgin coconut oil to my hair as a sort of deep conditioner.
