Wow, her portrait skills are amazing! No water edges, astounding talent.
I was priveliged to attend a Janet Rogers workshop in Sarasota in 2020 just before the lockdown. I learned and improved so much! Then when I returned home I had plenty of time to practice.
Hi there, I am a retired art teacher/lecturer from the uk, i watched this with interest because although I am good at teaching watercolours never pleased with my own results, today I have learnt quite a lot from a very good teacher Janet, the translucency and alive portraiture and also the way of mixing the colours on the paper…with a butterfly wing…superb at almost 83 and I am still learning which of course I will pass on and whats more encourage my students to watch this page on utube and I do find it easier to work in oils and pastels but now I will hope to succeed with the watercolours…

I thought had better explain the comment …’with a butterfly’s wing’ please do not take this seriously, its simply means very lightly

As for saying she is not very good at explaining, you learn by watching more than you do by hearing, artists are called the eyes of the world as musicians are called the ears of the world, so watch and also note two things, how important the white of the paper is, this is what gives the freshness…you never ever cover all the paper with paint…but no more, I am a teacher, but this is the teacher you should be watching you will learn so much
Love it. Not as easy as it looks…she is a very talented artist.
