I think the girl might be dead and this is my theory why. After successfully escaping the nursery the girl runs into a room with only one way out, a tunnel. Desperate to escape the clutches of the Maw, the girl jumps down the tube and makes her way through the start of the depths until a leech supprises and attacks her. She drops her torch and is dragged away by the leech, which explains the leech and the black mess, then there is a struggle. She manages to stand up and begins to run, leaving foot prints and is covered in black mess. However, despite her efforts she is caught and dragged away again but tries to grab the wood, the hand print. She can't hold on and is killed by the leech. That's as far is I've gotten to anyway. 😄

She's...definitely dead. She foot prints and hand print seemed as if she was wounded or desperate and attempted to escape her situation. But on the other side of the wood was a leech. I'm pretty sure she is long gone. In the little nightmares comic, it's quite clear that the leeches are capable of swallowing children whole as well, which is why you don't see a body.

This is what I thought too, but when Six or The Runaway Kid gets killed by a leech, the leech simply chokes us. It's possible they slowly swallow us, but the Runaway Girl seemed to die quickly

My theory is that eight, I will be calling the girl that for this story, is alive at this point of the story and might be dead near the end. Let me explain. After entering the depths eight sees a leach and gets scared. She drops her flashlight. She is attacked but manages to break lose and run leaving the footprints. The black stuff in the corner after that is the other victims items. She is attacked by grannie and grannie somehow breaks the back of her dress and is comes off. After that the dress washed to shore, you can only the the front so that means you can not see the break. Next eight escapes she is running in the showers that explains grannies handprint. I think after that she was caught by the janitor. She is one of the children in the cages at the end of the chapter. This means she might have escaped the janitor or she might be dead. So this leads to a unsolved question but if leads to a bit of what might have happened to the flashlight girl.

I've got a theory on how Six fit into this exact timeline. That room Seven (I know it's The Runaway Kid but most fans, including myself, call him Seven) was in was a different room. Once Six got into the room below, the Janitor left the room. What he was trying to do was catch that little child, which he caught in the beginning. Now for the tricky part. The little girl with the flashlight was escaping after Six entered the room where she encountered the Janitor for the first time. So how would that explain the cloth going down the escape vent if the girl just escaped and Six only got to that room afterwards? That's because that girl with the flashlight is a ghost. She was one of the first few children who tried to escape but failed, so now her ghost always imitates the same thing, haunting that area. The only thing I won't be able to explain is the flashlight not running out of batteries. Anyways, back to the ghost girl. The blood trail you see of hers after the flashlight looks black, which means she's been dead for a long time. So that means the cloth has been there for a long time too, just in time for Six to climb up and go into that room, and continue her adventure to escape the Maw. To Seven, it looked like she was escaping as a living child but she was really a ghost.

Yeah, even in the main game when you make Six walk in the leech ink she has black footprints for a while, soo . . . yeah, the girl being a ghost is a big stretch. There isn't any elements like that in the comics either.

The Paranormalist guys i have a theory, there must be a reason why this dlc was revealed since its named secret of the maw but the dlc seemed gave us more questions but if we think about it more, what if the little girl turned into granny maybe the girl with the flashlight was actually dead and just an illusion that the character see, as we see in the last clue a desd rat probably she did not ate it but ate the food that turns kids into large fat things and into one of the fat or tall ones as we see in the next room a large handprint and turned into granny i think this dlc explains why you should not eat the food the chefs made maybe explains why six eats rat snd the gnome instesd of meat like the sausage

Derisa Gerisa look at my other comment i think she escaped i dont think a leech can consume someone so fast i think she probably put the flashlight on the leechs mouth and the leech struggles and she manage to escape, and probably turned into granny somehow and i kinda agree with the ghost thing maybe its not a ghost but the power of granny i have a feeling granny is somehow related to the owner of the ship greisha and granny uses a power to make illusions to lure kids down the sewer

Whatever the case is or whatever all the theories may be, the girl is not the Granny, she's not an illusion, she isn't a ghost, and she most definitely died. We just don't know how, but I am 100% sure that the stray flashlight and the black leech ink was intended by the gamemakers to let us know for sure that the girl is dead.

You could see a streak of blood before the hand print and the foot prints. I think she ran away from the blood or something. Then was dragged by the granny. And tried to hold on to the wall hence the left hand symbol, the hand in the bag was her left hand aswell. My theory.

If she was dragged by the Granny, her footprints wouldn't have left a clean trail. Look at the footprints, they're precise and don't lose their form (which would happen had she been dragged, applying force on the ground while still moving would have definitely left a "dragged" trail if you see what i'm trying to say).

Honestly I'm thinking the Janitor must be somewhat related to the granny. Going back to the first game the Janitor was blinded and could only hear movement. He wraps children up in bags and delivers them too the chefs. What if he didn't *know* they were children. What if he thought they were animals or something. What he was told that! Also he sorta seems like a Mommas Boy which I find adorable. Also his small little room has nice paintings and he seemed happy in a picture. Certainly someone had to have taken that photo/painted it. Since the janitor can't see I don't think it would be him. So maybe it was the Granny who did it. Maybe the janitor IS good. But he doesn't know who's lives he's taking. Aswell as the uses of CAGE'S! They are mostly used on animals. So obviously someone had ought to tell the Janitor they were animals. Which (as I said before) would be the twin chefs. The Janitor seems innocent. And now his arms are cut of so he's worthless. And now I think since he's worthless the chefs have decided to use him as food. Thanks but that's just a theory. *A GAME THEORY*!

Hmm a nice theory but i highly doubt the janitor is a good guy, I know this was 3 years ago but I don't really care, the janitor is really good at smelling and hearing, he woudve suspected it right from the start because almost all children they would be shouting or screaming if they get caught and alarm the fact that they're human. It also helps the structure, it is humanlike, cause there humans. This theory was really nice but i kinda doubt janitor is a good guy. But hey it was just a theory, A Game Theory.

My therory: I think she escaped and was found by The Lady and transformed into a gnome, or she died from the janitor and The Runnaway girl (or Eight) and was foled and was given to the twin chefs, orr that was the ghost her doing that thing again and again and she thinks she is still alive and trying to escape but always failed, orrr she is the sister to six and she escaped but there was no way to get off the boat except for swimming, orrrr she survived and wrote notes to any one else trying to escape and help them. It could be that she was taken by the Janitor because earlier in the game(where six was in) the Janitor was beginning to wrap a body similar to her. Also, how could have the Granny get her from that far of a distance, not to mention she is mainly in water.

Well since the footprints stop abruptly in the path of the leech, I assumed that she was attacked by one, dropping her flashlight, and then the leech began to drag her. She began to run away from it, but ultimately it caught up to her and killed her, dragging her out to water, accidently ripping her dress, and then leaving her sucked out body in the water. As for the flotsams, I assumed they were from other children who managed to escape.

4:57 I think she fell in that hole because she didn’t have a flashlight, and it was super dark so she fell. Just a theory, but I kinda agree more with your theory.

I think that maybe it has something to do with thay hand print. maybe that room was flooded and the girl solved it but the granny also got her as well. Maybe the granny left that room before it flooded completely and took the girl as well. maybe grandma is nice and wants hugs and wants a child.

When we find a dead rat granny were still in a girl form and she was hungry (but she can wait a little bit ) I belive that is granny don' t have any teeth and forgot about them a long time ago and she just shallowing a victim whole , but mouth of a little girl were too small for grannys habit and she just leave rat die . Than granny was very very hungry she found a leech and eat that in girl form than she tierd of shape shifting and turn in her true form .After eating a leech grannys hands are in ink and she wipes off her hand about wall thereby leave the hand print . Than granny leave the dress and enters the water . After this we already know her story . P.S.: Congradilations , you read this rutine !!!

What if the girl was just a flashback thingy, and the girl is granny? Like, she used to be a girl who was trying to escape, and while running away from the leach she fell into the water and drowned, becoming this monster who spends the rest of her life in the water, trying to kill other kids who came her way because of jealousy.

Sorry for the long comment. Possible spoilers ahead, so please read at your own risk! :D THEORY: Maybe the little girl is Six. I think it might be, and here's why I think this. 1.) While going up to the Lady's room, you see a picture of a girl in a dress who looks like the girl who is running away. The picture is thought to be Six, because it looks like Six too ((plus the picture, the girl and Six all have short hair)). 2.) The girl could have had a struggle with the leech, but got away and took her dress off before getting into the water to make it easier for her to swim away. 3.) We don't see the girl anymore, but we see a dead rat. This could be Six's doing, because of how hungry she gets and how it seems she has no problem eating rats/gnomes. 4.) Since we don't see the girl, a ton of things could have happened to her. She could of died, or she could have found a raincoat in one of the rooms! Maybe a room that was hers, since it's a theory that the Lady is Six's mom. If so, then it'd make since that she'd have her own room. Looking at the raincoat, it looks new. This might be why Six is the only one who has clean clothes. ((Since she changed :D)). 5.) At the end of the Depth DLC, you see the boy you play as in a cage, and you also see Six in a cage. The Janitor guy could have mistook Six as one of the kids trying to run away, hence him putting her in the cage. He couldn't have known it was her, since she had her hood up. But the boy would know it's the runaway girl plus you see him after Six breaks out of the cage and he tosses her food when she is hungry! :) ((Side theory, what if the boy you play as in the DLC is related to Six, which is why the Janitor didn't kill him after capturing him?))

I think personally she was grabbed by the Janitor. Firstly because there's a possible chance he grabbed her from above, which would shock her and make her drop the flashlight. Also in the main storyline you can actually see the Janitor wrap up the very same girl. If a leach or the granny got her they are most likely to eat her. But if they did, how did the Janitor get her in one piece?

My interpretation of the timeline here: Runaway Kid and the girl have already gone down the drain a long time ago by the time Six even reached the rope hanging out of the window vent. Since the drain is already closed when Six reaches it, the Janitor probably already found out about their escape and made sure to close it, which is why he was probably looking out for the Kid's return so he could recapture him. While Six is walking around during the first chapter, the Kid is also facing Granny and swimming through the Depths while evading her. When Six's first hunger sequence happens, the boy at the cafeteria throws her bread, which lead me to the conclusion: the boy who threw Six some bread is _not_ the Kid. My explanation to why that is is because, Six and the Kid's paths cross only after Six's second hunger sequence at the cages when she eats the raw meat, and when she wakes up, a cage is being dragged away, which is the Kid. It's impossible for the Kid to have been at the cafeteria if he gets caught after he beats the Granny, where the Janitor probably caught both Six and the Kid close to the same time. So, the boy at the cafeteria isn't the Kid. The Kid had just finished electrocuting the Granny with the TV and climbing up the ladder the same time Six eats the piece of raw meat at the cages and gets caught. So the Janitor caught them both without much time in between.

In the room with the last clue, the large hand print, there is a hole in the floor. The girl is flashlightless and may have been not paying attention to what was in front of her when running away. Depending on what happens when you fall down the hole, she may have died by falling into it.

In fact, when we are there, there are six of us and we see the janitor packing bodies, you can see the girl's body.

I thinks so, because all the bottles may be a message to help the children that do escape

It’s a good theory, but it doesn’t really match up as well... I also have a theory as well. (Please read if you have time :).) So, the “flashlight girl” to me, look a awful lot like the girl in the photos in some of the DLC and in the first original game. Like, the child.. With the black hair that normally standing next to the lady in the portraits. Well, to me, I think she was either her daughter, or the next lady because they look so much alike. But once the “flashlight girl” dies, Six then is there to take the “flashlight girls” place. This other person theorized that the cooks and the janitor only cook and use dead children. It fits in perfectly, since the person who the Janitor grabs, (which is the flashlight girl,) well, the Janitor if you look closely.. He’s not harming her. Another person also explained that the lady loves children. She hums, (in a sort of calming way) she has a ton of toy dolls, shadow children, and she didn’t hurt the runaway kid, only make him a nome. And so I think the people who work at the Maw, (such as the Janitor, and the cooks) are probably aware that she loves children, and to not harm them so once the flashlight girl “died,” (it’s still not clear whether she did or not, but I think it fits) ya know, in that room were you find the leach, the Janitor might have saw her and took her. In the first game, you can see the Janitor picking up someone from the cage and doing something with it. The girl looks exactly like the person the Janitor was carrying. YOUR WELCOME :)

at 2:34 on the left you can see a big puddle of something, blood? when i looked further i think i see the girl curled up dead in the puddle maybe the leech attacked her, she droped her flashlight and tried to drag herself away, after finally getting up she ran to the side and tried to pull it off, she failed to and died next to the wall, the leech was going back to its pouncing position but you came right after she died

I think she was startled by Roger and dropped her flashlight while running away. Then Roger caught her and put her in the cage he is dragging back into the Prison when Six sees him on the bridge for the first time.

I don’t think she is in the bag in the water, because The Janitor makes bags and the Granny doesn’t “””care””” about these things, instead she *eats* things. So I don’t think she is in the bag. But you opened my eyes, that is, why do I have to look for theories that aren’t proved, when I can examine the details? The rat, the prints, the bottles... You’re right! It must be a sign, or somethig. Before this video I couldn’t understand why there were so many bottles with messages in the maps, but now... Good job!

Generally speaking, this game doesn't offer any lasting pieces of hope, sunshine or happily ever afters. With this in mind, I do think she met some kind of horrifying end, although it's anyone's guess as to what and where. I don't think she wrote the notes in the flotsams either as her trail goes cold fairly early on and those notes show up in the most surprising places with little to no clues as to whom left them or when.

I think this DLC shows the story AFTER the Six. Because like you show it in one of your easter eggs/Secrets video, in the eye, you can see two kids laying on beds. This runaway kid and the girl with a flashlight. The bottles are from the Six. Probably she left them.

next DLC maybe seven eat six

It could very well be the same shadowed figure that watches Six whenever she eats something. I believe it appeared when she ate the Nome? Someone mentioned a theory that many of the events with the Runaway Kid were orchestrated by the Lady; it could be that this girl, who is also a very shadowy figure, could be something created by the Lady to lure the Runaway Child to her. Not to mention it seems awfully convenient that the girl just happens to randomly drop her flashlight, providing it for the Runaway Kid, when there seems to be no reason for her to drop it. She also seems to look back sometimes, as though checking to see if the Runaway Kid is following her.

At the end there are two clues, the girl jumped into the big pipe system while the granny was there , who turned to the water, and the girl survived injured, and finds a boat to take away anywhere...but that horrid place

Am I the only person that thinks this, or am I just going a little crazy? Ok here goes Everybody knows that that’s the lady’s daughter, and that’s the girl you play as in mobile game “ very little nightmares”. Right? Oh yeah! Guys bonus fact! I think that the lady’s name could be Veronica, that name is In the song you use to distract the janitor.

The thing is I always thought she got mauled by the leech, since her footprints stop around there and there is a squarish silhouette by the leech that people say could be her body. However it doesn't look very body-like, there's obviously the dress, and beside the dead rat you can still see some faint black footprints. I don't know how the dress is clean, but there were multiple other escape routes that we couldn't go through - maybe she got through one of those? :P

I think the girl is the child in the cage which the janitor is dragging in the first introduction of him in chapter 1. There are two times where the janitor is seen dragging a cage, the second time, is confirmed to be the runaway kid, in the end of the depths. But the first time. The hand print is probably the Janitor's because the granny is always seen in the water, not out of it.

Once I seen the flashlight on the floor then the tiny hand print on the wood like she was dragged away she's dead. I feel like once we get to the part where the janitor is wrapping the children up we'll see her to confirm it.
