    Thank you for uploading this. If it hadn't been for David Keyes work, further investigation would not have been conducted as to the ultimate source of the 535-536 disaster. The volcano Ilapongo in El Salvador, now a lake. Keyes may have gotten the volcano wrong, but he sniffed out a mystery that nobody else thought to question and for that we understand how interconnected humanity was - as well as the relationship between disease and volcanic events.

    first mentioning of bubonic plague was not 535 ad but probably in the Bible, 1 book of Samuel, chapters 4-6.
