Oh yess I agree. To increase chances of winning a pageant, it’s good to have an advocacy or platform. Because it shows you are committed and would back to the community. Thanks very much this video was so educational.

I love this. I am deciding to compete in my first local pageantry for next year. I am SO excited. I am hiring a coach in the fall. I am 5'9 in height, I bought the Chinese Laundry Teaser heel and I can hardly walk in it. I decided to go with the Touch Ups Queenie Platform style that I found on Pageant Planet.

Dani! We need more content on the Teen Divisions! Do you think older teens tend to win?

Thanks for making this video Dani, lots of helpful information. Also when you mean platform your talking about having some sort of social media following right or maybe a website. Platform seems to be a trending word people use for that last couple of years but what I think they mean to say is having an audience.

Not quite! Your platform is kind of like your mission in a way. My platform Pit Fit is working towards helping women find comfort and confidence in the gym. I share my platform through my social media but that’s not the only way to spread your platform. Every contestant is different in how they spread their message! Some titleholders are passionate about literacy and will go to schools to speak and read with children. It’s complicated but I hope this helped a bit.

Great question @brookee.pitman is right. You don't need social media or a website for your platform, but you could create that if you'd like to. The platform is the cause/mission; social media or a website would then be the medium you use to share about the platform.

Hi Dani could you please explain the difference between the preliminary competition and finals? Do the participants have to do a different routine for each of them?

I talked about prelims and finals a bit in this episode, but that answer to that question depends on the pageant system. In some pageants, take for example Miss Universe 2017, the pageant held prelims in a small ballroom, but finals were on a large stage. In this case the contestants walked two different stage routines. Larger pageants will often change the routine, but smaller pageants will keep them the same.

This was so helpful. Also, I was thinking I found a brand on line I might try getting a dress from ones. I try some on in person to get a feel for the style I want. Then I found out the brand is hit or miss! We're would you recommend getting a dress for someone on a tight budget?

Totally depends on the pageant. It's not necessary for all pageants/systems.
