Secrets Behind Shooting a Drinks Commercial: 6 Cinematography Techniques
Фильм және анимация
These are the 6 cinematography techniques we used when shooting these 3 commercials for Baileys. In this video I share my experience as a cinematographer on this commercial shoot, including lighting breakdowns with gaffer Will, my pre-production and even the pay.

As someone who is just stepping foot into the world of video production, this video alone has provided me tons of value. On top of all the detailing (especially with the BTS with graphics), the fact that you went ahead and transparently showed how much you've charged shows you're here to deliver nothing but quality. I would appreciate it if you could add an entire list of all the equipment used in the video, as I'm unfamiliar with most of it used in the video. I wish you all the best, dear Scott!
That was absolutely great. Not only did it dive deeper into lighting and DP setup, but also provided an understanding of the whole relationship/fee behind the shoot. Thank you so much :) This is game-changing for everyone learning and developing their own path to commercial cinematography

Very interesting advice to start with the high speed and then go wider instead of the usual wide-to-close, I'll keep that in mind.
Kudos to your art department for the practical lights in the bar scene!! That was brilliant. That one breakdown I learnt so much about light placement. This is definitely going to be handy on my future shoots. Beautiful work Scott!!

If you ever have to pull focus again I heard a tip to make sure you set up perpendicular to the camera shot so you can watch as the camera and subjects move further and closer from eachother. I saw you were pulling with your back to the whole scene in one shot
Brilliant video Scott. Seeing the chain is also really important too. I love the transparency and honesty of your videos. Keep it up matey!

fascinating stuff - I'm an actor (and a secret camera/cinematography nerd) and while I was working on a commercial shoot for SPAR here in Northern Ireland I was talking to the food technician people who were setting up the table of food for the closing shot of the ad and THEY said the big money was in being a "liquid specialist" or something - not sure that was the actual job title but I heard about a guy who makes drinks like whiskey pour over ice in a pleasing way for the camera, and he travels the world for about 3 months making a fortune then takes the rest of the year off!!! was there anyone there making sure the baileys looked it's best or was that all on you?

@@ScottPetersFilms I also know it's not easy to dual track a packed two days of shooting with a vlog, so your wizardry is witnessed doubly.
Great video Scott! Interesting that the Dedo's went flickering, never experienced that before. I'll keep that in mind. Did you already get to play with the Freefly Ember 5K? Less dynamic range, but a cleaner image than Raptor. I think you will enjoy that cam.

I haven’t touched one yet, but the frame rates and resolution combo sound like a good time!
first off, another amazing breakdown. So valuable and thank you. Were the practicals at 9:13 in the upper right hand corner specular? You mentioned they were tea lights, so were they just those small candles with the circular containers or what? Really love those were intentional.

new subscriber! I also shoot on v-raptor and komodo quite a bit. question for ya- do you use any particular in-camera LUTs when you have a shoot with so many people monitoring on set?
@ScottPetersFilms
7 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t, just the standard Rec709 conversion LUT that the camera comes with, I try and get everything to a place where I’m happy and when people makes comments about a certain hue of the brown of a burger or something I normally say… we can fix that in the grade.
