I’ve roasted for years with one of these whirlypop kettles.At least 200 lbs worth. The two toned coffee depends on the green coffee purchased. Washed coffee process gives more evenly toned roasted coffee. Natural processed coffees will be a two toned. Nothing wrong with uneven roasts. So it didn't work well? My first roast is very calico in color. I think it was my burner. I ordered a butane one.

Actually do not install the fins. Use without it better

You could also try washing the beans before roasting. This is a technique used in Ethiopia and elsewhere. I don’t use it but I have some friends who swear by it.

Actuality Copper is no good! I ended up removing the copper shortly after. I thought it was good idea at the time.

my roast has always been really even with the whirley pop... lucky i guess.
