I finished the book yesterday. I was in tears in my garden, no knowing what I was going to do now that they're gone. I wish I could've drown in that book.

im actually obsessed with this book. I'm in the middle of my third proper reading of it (not counting the times I picked it up to read the odd random chapter) and I think I have a problem. The Goldfinch is probably a technically better book, but I think 'The Secret History' has an additional spark to it. One of my favourite books of all time.

Firstly I absolutely ADORED the book. Secondly, Richie from Dusk Till Dawn was EXACTLY how I imagined Henry. Great trailer, bravo!!!

okay so i was watching this for the hundredth time and i just had to leave a comment. you cannot understand how much i love this. you captured the atmosphere perfectly, it's such a delicate and intense tribute to such a delicate and intense book. i would love to discuss it with you some day, its hard to find people that really understand it. (also, as i have said before, you chose the perfect francis!! and the others do the job as well.) kisses to you ♡

Ahhhhh! Donna Tartt is so talented and I love this book and this beautiful video! If we every get a Secret History movie I think I'd cry it'd be so good.

Something that's struck me on my most recent reading is how everything around the classmates' circle is typical druggy hippie college grossness. This video shows the mood of the main characters and their exploits so well, but zoom out and there's Cloke trying to sell you meth and Judy doing a keg-stand and the picturesque academic scene that Richard paints for us of the Greek class falls apart

You couldn't have found a better henry ! Perfect !

It's like trying to recreate Gatsby as a movie. I actually loved the Gatsby film with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford, but it was nowhere near the perfection of the book. I think some of the imagery here is really quite amazing, and eerily evokes many of the incredible moments in the book, but I just can't imagine a film capturing the pure incandescent magic of the novel. I would love to see such a film, but to me the book is just so special, such an unbearably beautiful and original work of art that it should just be left as such. Maybe I'm biased. It's just one of my favorite books on the planet, and I've been an avid, obsessive re-reader of it since I first read it in 1993. That said, some of these images really are compelling. I'm rereading it again now, as I always do when I need inspiration.

THIS IS EXCELLENT. And I am so shocked that the Henry you picked looks exactly - EXACTLY - like how I imagined him in my head --- so much that it's uncanny! :O O,o Would you please mind clarifying which actors you used to play which characters? :) I'm know Daniel Bruehl is Richard but I can't figure out which one Bunny is.

this is one of the first videos I watched when I first discovered/bought the book months and months ago and the song/clips have always stuck with me. you chose them perfectly and the mysterious and chilling aura of the book is very well-executed. I just finished it in the past hour after putting it off for a while and am still deciding how I feel about it; the last one hundred pages were interesting but I felt like the story dragged on for a while with so many unnecessary descriptions of people the reader doesn’t really care about. I would hope a movie/miniseries would have the same atmosphere as your clip though :) (also this is exactly how I pictured henry).

Hello, I couldn't be silent so I'm here to express my admiration for this video. You managed to capture the atmosphere of the narrative SO accurately, like all those tiny little details - the lake, the touches & kisses and the colours are GREAT, and it doesn't even matter if I see their faces in a different way (and I think that was also a great thing not kinda focus on the faces but on figures/shapes/etc) but I could really SAW It, and the song has actually become my favourite one and it fits so very perfectly I would also like to type 1000 words of how I like the video and how I adore the book and how I'd like it to be filmed but I just repeat that this is one video I find the most insipring and beautiful and thank u btw, don't know why type English here as I speak Russian and I guess you too but I'd like others to read it and understand once more how amazing the video is THANK U p.s.also 'd like to watch the films I haven't seen from this vid, sure it would be great (love in thoughts, antiviral and the moth diaries) thanks for the recommendations

a Beautiful mind.Great video! Although I believe this book was largely inspired by Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, it's still one of the most brilliant and haunting books out there. Great job!

Hard agree! While I was still reading TSH I started Crime and Punishment coincidently and thought that both of them held a similar message ? The novels in themselves are very different yet we can _feel_ the similarity. I know I'm a bit late to the party but anyway, this comment is three years old but still valuable

***** кажется, со мной такое было, когда я в первый раз посмотрела "Властелин колец", "Спартака" и прочитала "Ты против меня" Дж. Даунхэм. Книга не сказать, что чем-то особенная, но меня она зацепила, будь здоров. было в ней что-то...эдакое. не знаю. но я помню, когда я досмотрела "Спартака"...ооо, я прожужжала об этом сериале каждому, кто появлялся в поле зрения, хотел он того или нет :D я долго не могла отойти. такой это был мощный эмоциональный взрыв.поэтому, я полностью доверяю твоему вкусу и восторгу от прочитанного! ОБЯЗАТЕЛЬНО прочитаю!))) # Боже, я настолько загляделась,что забыла поставить лайк. будь моя воля, поставила бы все десять, о да. я все исправила :D

I don't believe the screen version would express all these subtle nuances of the relationships! And also I'm afraid I won't be ok with the cast cause I see the heroes in my own way, thanks to Donna's talent I have already a sharp image of this story. Maybe I'm wrong:D anyway, wait and see 😊

I'm reading it right now, about 35% in and loving it. No spoilers but please someone tell me something gay is going to happen in this book because the tension is killing me. Also I love how you didn't even have to tell us the casting and I automatically knew who was meant to be who just by their energy in this trailer. Great job!

hear me out fellow mortals, I think casting Camilla is crucial in a hypothetical adaptation. And this Camilla looks absolutely like the haunting shape from the novel, slightly washed up and erudite
