Ez to see, Mike knows about what he's speaking on. Leave you with a statistic 25% of Americans never mess with credit.

You’re 100% correct! I have a charge off, judgement, from a capital one credit card I had! No mean comment from anyone, my husband was killed by a drunk driver a few years ago, I couldn’t pay it, I was barely making it, moral of the story, capital one has given me a 2nd chance, I currently have three capital one credit cards. All unsecured with 3k limit in all of them, I do not carry balances, Iove all your videos Mike, Keep up the good work

Someone just said to get a furniture store card , but I’m confused i mean furniture is expensive . Ppl don’t usually pay off a $4k couch in one month which is the purpose of the furniture card in the first place . Buying furniture is like buying a car . Do they penalize you the same as they would for using the higher limit if the furniture card ?

@@daciasdiy1861 that’s when/where you pay attention to the details of the finance/card you’re applying for. If you’re able get an interest free offer (6months or a year for example)…you pretty much have that time to pay off that balance before they start penalizing you and charging you interest. The more credit, the better. Just stay on top of your bills/usage and you’ll be fine. 😊

This is so true. I have a credit card that had a $500 credit limit and for the longest the card was maxed out, but I made all my payments on time. Well around October, I started paying off my card and just using that card so I could get the points. In May I received a $1500 increase.

Actually having a zero balance hurts you. My credit went down every time I went from having a balance to paying it off and then reporting zero balance. For some reason cc’s consider you a risk if you maintain a zero balance. You want to maintain a balance to get the most positive affect on your credit between 6%-30% of the limit.

This is incorrect. You do not want to have a zero balance on your card because your score won’t go up because the credit agencies will see that you’re not even using the card at all and will think it’s inactive and sometimes may even close it. You have to leave something in there, at least a 10% utilization rate at the closing date then after that day, you pay the bill in full on or before the due date in order to avoid paying any interest. Those two days, the closing date and the due date are very important to know ..

Mike, when filling out a application for Capital One or any credit card, if I'm retired, what would I put down for employment? Would they accept me with SS income?

Hey great video! If you have a low credit score, do applying for a secured Capital One credit card count as a hard inquiry?

  • @MikeTheCreditGuy

Yes it does. Anytime you apply for any type of credit. It will get you a hard inquiry.

Yes, but you can actually prequalify but if approved, you will receive hard inquiry.

don't forget that you are to only use 30% of your credit card. when going over 30% it gets reported and will decrease your credit score.

Question If you decide to stop paying your credit card can they take money from your own bank without permission.

  • @creativ3vision

No, but if it gets to the point where they file a lawsuit against you, and you’ll ignore them. The judge WILL garnish your wages, and blocking your debit account with your bank would be the first step. They will take everything you got, and what ever you owe will show in the negative. The only option at that point would be filing for bankruptcy. Unless you want to work under the table for cash for the rest of your life. So, technically they CAN, and if the amount is large enough, they WILL; whether you like it or not.

So how would one do this with a $1000 limit. I can’t push my limit of $1000 like that and shouldn’t have to but you’re making it seem like I have to in order for an increase later on.

Well, truth be told I don't use C1 quicksilver(1st cc card w. $500CL) as I have have other card with better earning structure/ecosystem. Why would I need to raise CL with C1 at this point🤔?

You don’t have to but I would also. Remember raising the credit limit raises your overall available credit. More available credit can also raise your credit score and every time you apply for credit. They will see high limit credit cards all over your credit profile and be incentivized to give you a higher limit. Hope this helps fam 🙏🏽
