Secret Agent Man

A fun video for a cool 60s song. Ian Fleming's James Bond and Jim Thompson were the inspiration for this video. Thompson was a spy and disappeared one day while visiting Malaysia in 1967. I do not own the rights for this music and it is not created for any monetary gain--just fun. #1960s #1960smusic #spy #007 #secretagent

@@nefeli6178 Very much so, I Spy dealt with espionage against the USSR as well as China. The Bond films were mostly against the USSR and groups like SPECTRE. It was pretty much more clear who the bad guys were, even in the late 70's when the West was painted as being just as evil as the USSR.

Straight business! Just ready to turnover 70 and man what a blast from the past! I always liked Patrick McGoohan as John Drake, Secret Agent, or Danger Man in the UK, much more than Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo, Man from U.N.C.L.E.. I always thought Vaughn was too "pretty" to be a real agent. Stuck out too much. Don't get me wrong I watched both but I always thought McGoohan was more believable, he looked like an every man, just what an agent needed. All that said, did those guys wear some really cool suits or what? Be well and safe peace to you and yours.

This was the theme music for the US release of the UK show "Danger Man", which was retitled "Secret Agent" in the US. It's strange that although they say "The Prisoner" wasn't a sequel to "Secret Agent", that "given you a number and taken away your name" lyric sure makes you think so.

"Danger Man," "Secret Agent," and "The Prisoner" were all about the same character as he aged out of SAS, MI5, and MI6. Patrick MacGoohan played the same character, at different ages, over 30 years. An amazing accomplishment few others have even attempted. Just Gene Hackman as the surveillance expert in "The Conversation" came close.

I watched Secret Agent faithfully as a kid. So did my mom. Most of my friends too. Spying was big thing in the ‘60s. We had spy toys. I had a spy toy called six finger…a flesh toned plastic digit that hid among my 5 real 0:11 flesh fingers. The fake finger fired a dart…which had a rubber plug on the end so you wouldn’t shoot out your own eye or the eye of your target. We spit on the plug to simulate poison. Good times.😅
I'm 71 listened to it in the far east

I never wanted to be a Bond girl, unless like Ursula Andress walking out of the surf like Venus on the halfshell with a dagger in her bikini. I wanted to be a spy & got a James Bond spy kit for Xmas, & wore a trenchcoat for 3rd grade class pictures. One morning in 1st grade I was late for school. The nun asked why. I told her I went to see a double feature the night before with my parents - of Dr. No and Goldfinger. Scandalous! Read naked dead woman painted gold, so of course mom & dad got a call from the parochial school. Dad told them to go fly! I was not a sheltered child.

It was on the local channel. In January of 69 actor Patrick mcgoohan played the number 2 Little village. In May 8 1969. I came in second. The next day Wednesday they listen to the top five finishers I was number two also listen my address at the time 6:04 for Naples somebody egged the house on Thursday. Great to hear this theme song again. Patrick McGoohan's character, John Drake, never carried a gun. He did, however, have a selection of clever gadgets that were "believable" by 60s technology and Cold War standards, such as a cigarette lighter/camera and an electric shaver/miniature tape recorder. Exact opposite of 007.

Patrick McGoohan was offered the role of James Bond, but he refused to play that amoral reprobate. Patrick McGoohan loved the "Columbo" formula. He participated in six "Columbo" movies. Twice as the murderer, twice as the director, and twice as both the murderer and the director.
