I had fun putting this one together... it was my very first attempt at putting film clips to music! I decided not to go by the lyrics to make things a little easier, though now I may have to make a second version! I hope fellow McGoohan fans enjoy it!
In the USA, "Danger Man" was known as "Secret Agent" with its own theme song written by P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri. Supposedly, the theme was so popular, Johnny Rivers put together a longer version and recorded it live.

Patric Mcgouhan was outstanding in this series. The best of all the Secret Agents!
Excellent theme song. Johnny Rivers' hit songs all sound like they were recorded in a party, with all the fun background noises. He's one of New Orleans' many gifts to culture.

As I recall, this song and others were recorder at the Whiskey-Au-Go-Go in Calufornia. I'm sure his album will have the full information.

It's a live version of the song, hence the 'party' noises. People enjoying themselves.

The great Patrick McGoohan -- versatile actor, screenwriter, director -- NEVER EVER TO BE SURPASSED!! The theme sung by the equally great and talented Johnny Rivers. He owns this song. NOBODY CAN TOP his voice and guitar playing! HE WILL NEVER BE SURPASSED! I have been a big fan of McGoohan's work in film & on TV. Always watched Secret Agent. Always danced to Johnny Rivers' hits & watched him on every show. This is a perfect example of synchronicity -- theme song and a show in perfect harmony. The memories keep rushing back when I hear the song or watch the show -- those were the best times ever!😊

Great show that I watched as a kid even though it competed with other 'spy shows' like 'The Man from Uncle' and 'Mission: Impossible'.

The most famous recording of the song was made by Johnny Rivers for the opening titles of the American broadcast of the British spy series Danger Man, which aired in the U.S. as Secret Agent. Rivers's version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Canadian RPM chart, one of the biggest hits of his career. Numerous covers and adaptations have been recorded since then with the song becoming both a rock standard and one of Johnny Rivers's signature songs.

Danger Man was on the CBC in Canada as early as 1960. I left Ottawa in 1961 as a kid of 10. Danger Man was a standout , and PM must have had the "Rights" to the show. I know he did a lot of writing and was smart about his career.
...remember this from when I was like, five. A MUST for Mom and Dad to watch. I didn't get the series, but remember thinking the theme was cool as $hit. Whoda thunk 30 years later McGoohan would play Edward Longshanks?...

I used to love playing this on my Gibson when I was younger but now my old fingers just cannot do it. But I still love listening to it and remembering it.

I have an answer for you: P.F. Sloan wrote the riff. He and Steve Barri wrote the song. Sloan also wrote "Eve of Destruction".

Oh God I had such a crush on Patrick McGoohan. It started when I was about 10 years old. I almost killed my brother when he attempted to change the TV channel when he was on. -- and if he ever tried it again - he knew that I would so it was never a problem after the first incident. 😇

It would be better if you cut out injecting lines from The Prisoner. Hearing "I am a free man" repeatedly ruins how Dangerman/Secret Agent Man can stand on it's own merit. Especially since Patrick McGoohan kept insisting that Secret Agent John Drake had nothing to do with Number 6.

I don't think this was a theme to any TV series, certainly not Secrete Agent aka Danger Man and definitely not The Prisoner
