Seb's Finnish skills are likely thanks to the 3 Finnish physiotherapists he has worked with throughout his career, Tommi Pärmäkoski, Heikki Huovinen and Antti Kontsas.
Seb has mentioned in the past that he learnt French through his schooling, this is also likely where he perfected his English. The clips of Seb speaking French were first collated here: adehilmt/status/1308677556330213376
Seb's mother tongue is German. In the clip selected here, Seb is specifically speaking in his local dialect, Hessian (Hessisch). Seb is in discussion with former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock at the 2018 German GP, over a variety of German delicacies. Translations for this section were provided by Moritz.
Finally, Seb took the time to work on his Italian language skills upon his signing to Ferrari, heard over team radio at each of his wins with the Scuderia.

In Europe it’s pretty standard to know 3 languages from a young age and the third is usually not native (i.e: Germany it’s German 1st English 2nd and later on French) which lead to people knowing what it takes to learn a language and applying what they learned with their 3rd to their 4th or 5th language etc.

Mick Schumacher's French is also perfect, if you didn't tell me it's not his mothertongue i couldn't tell. @Dzie Kuje Not quite. In a strict sense, Spanish is one of the easiest languages to speak, because it is a really widespread language and vocabulary -wise, Spanish is intelligible with lots of other languages, although Italian and French have very similar grammatical rules to those of English. On the other hand, we have tons of grammatical rules that make it hell for non-Latin speakers to learn Spanish, so much so that it was deemed as the 5th hardest language to learn, only a behind Chinese, Japanese, Finnish and German.
@Symphonial
2 жыл бұрын
@Dzie Kuje "Latin languages are the easiest". If some of my friends who learn french would read that, they would slap your face so hard lol. It's defnitely not the case for french which is one of the hardest language to learn with all these particularities. I won't say it's very hard for an italian since both languages are a bit close (not so much, because even if french has a lot of latin roots, you also have some roots from other regions). Italian isn't so easy too, even if it seems easier than french given there are less exceptions (And I can't say for spanish since I can't speak spanish) but it's very close to italian so it's not surprising they speak well But for chinese (for example), french isn't definitely an easy language (it can be easier if you master english, of course)
@danthomas4198

@@franciscagustin Well no not really, Finnish is not easier for an Italian to learn than Spanish. Same way Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin are harder again. They are just harder, because they are more different, it's black and white.

"Feliz Navidad!" MR. WORLDWIDE
I've got to say that while he's only fluent in German and English, it's still really impressive how he's able to have a basic conversation in another 3 languages. I speak English as my first language, Italian as my second (my parents are Italian) and I'm currently learning Japanese. Once I'm done with Japanese though, I'll be learning German. German is such a nice language and I like the country as a whole myself. Btw, for anyone wondering, Seb's Italian is very broken but it's still incredible that he is able to keep up such conversations. Italian is very difficult and, as expected, he messed up a lot of gender articles. The Italian language as a whole is really complicated. At one point he even sung "You'll never surrender". He said "arrenderete mai" but it's actually "non vi arrenderete mai", which literally means "you will never not surrender yourselves". Italian uses this double negative, which makes no sense. Even Latin didn't have it. I'm also not sure why Italian even uses the dative form with the verb "surrender". As I said, Italian is a very complicated language. It's still really amazing how he can also speak Finnish on top of that, which is a language that is even more complicated than Italian
“No, Satan, ass, fuck, Friday” i felt that😂

In Germany we learn English and French at school, sometimes also Latin or another one of the modern languages like Spanish. I myself had English starting in 5th grade, then Latin 7th grade and French 8th grade (that type of higher education school goes to 13th grade). So someone graduating with the "Abitur" can probably speak French well enough to have a good conversation but if you don't practice it you mess up the articles and gender pronunciations of nouns a bit and also the past tenses sometimes can be tricky. But we can definitely read a French newspaper without wondering what the text is about.
