Nah they learned from the mob then forced them out & took over. The mob actually let the working class people have some stuff where the people who took over are way more greedy so the working class are just victims.

@@itsfroggertv2068crime rate has gone down every year the past thirty years. I’d say mob run in the days of Meyer lansky isn’t “the good ole days” also love how he says Wynn wanted suits and cocktail dresses when Wynn is the one who made treasure island and marketed to kids to bring their families then made multiple other casinos shaping Vegas into the trash it is today. These two are totally out of touch.

I couldn't agree more. Im 55 and old enough to remember the rack of loaner sports jackets at the msin entrance of Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe. And no, you didnt walk your children through the gaming areas, and you didn't see people strolling through the joint in flip-flops and board shorts. The main difference from those days to current times is hospitality. Back then the casinos bent over backwards to make your visit positive and memorable. If you lost $800 in a night you could justify it with a 99 cent breakfast or $1 99 steak and eggs. And lets face it motel rooms were a lot more reasonable back then. Thes guys understood the art of hospitality offering free drinks and lucky bucks at every entrance. You might have lost at the tsbles but you still felt taken care of. These days it's all corporate, greed driven nonsense that creats an uptight environment. Theres no sense of relaxation anymore. Hurry up and give us your money and go home. Sort of like an airport.

Let’s not forget that the Italian mafia were, at base level, a band of thieves, robbers and con men. Okay, Vegas looked pretty good from the outside. People were encouraging and enticed to play with generous comping, attractive hotels, big name entertainment, affordable prices and low crime. All of these positive characteristics were made so because the bosses behind the scenes wanted lots of volume in terms of guests, and they wanted as few reasons as possible for law enforcement to be present. On the back end of that was an organization that frequently dealt in violence and intimidation, and ultimately death. They paid off politicians and law enforcement, as well as upper casino management to ensure that no one attempted to interfere with the massive profits they realized from their crooked skimming operations……wait, this sounds almost exactly like Vegas under corporate ownership, only the corporations have done away with anything resembling a welcoming atmosphere for guests, who are nickeled and dimed at every possible chance. You know what, bring the mafia back. They did a much better job.

That will never come back ! Remember how we used to travel back in the 50's and 60's ? You wouldn't think of getting on a plane without wearing your best clothes. Now peoples best clothes are cargo shorts, tank tops and fat women's sweat suits !

As someone who has called Vegas home for the last 3 decades I can say that this city needs the mob to take back control of it more than ever before. In the last two years it has drastically evolved into a lawless shit show and it’s heartbreaking. Oscar and his boys need to step up and take this town back to its glory days.

I lived in Vegas during the years the mob ran it, up till today, it was better, Vegas had cheaper rooms, restaurants, shows. The money people brought to Vegas went to the casinos and it was fun back then, it was not a child friendly town.

Imaginary landscapes are always idyllic. Sebastian is too young to remember what Vegas was like before corporations took over. What was better, beyond formal attire etiquette?
