I saw Madam X with Sebastian in a small club. It was either late-86 or early-87. I brought just a point and shoot camera, but wound up with some good photos. The band invited me backstage, offered me stuff off the deli tray, and we’re all-around nice people. Sebastian even had me take band photos with his disk camera.

I saw Madam X a few times in the 80's at a place called The Weigh (Way?) Station in Oxford Michigan. The only reason we went to that bar was they had "Drink and Drown" night on Wednesdays and you paid 5 or 10 bucks to get in and drank as much as you could between 8pm and midnight. That being said, when I saw Madam X they had a guy playing drums (not the Vixon chick) and the girl guitar player was okay from a playing standpoint but she was kind of rough to look at. She ran around flicking her tongue like she was Gene Simmons. Although the band was pretty tight musically they were total posers (Poison with a girl guitar player) with extremely generic sounding originals. They all had poofy hair, and obviously they were more concerned with image than they were with writing or playing good music.

Madam X was a popular act in the Detroit area. While folks think Bach is a better singer I have to disagree. The bands best works were with the bands original singer Kaiser imo. Seem's Bach started off Immature and has kept the immaturity train rolling to this day. I was fortunate too catch both Madam X and Seduce in their hey day's in 1984 and 85 both were highly legit bands that should had gotten bigger but didnt.

Great interview 👍🏻 Chris is such a great, cool guy, when I was recording and performing in Surgical Steel in Phoenix in 1987, is when I met the Madam X members at Rockers and we all became good friends, I think they came to our shows too. Chris has always been a good friend and supportive thru my career. I can't say enough great things about him. In fact, before we even met, while I was back in Steeler in 1983, I would bang my bass against my head and the fans would freak out. Later, in 87, after meeting Chris and finding out that he does the same thing that I was doing, so, we were the only two metal bassists who were bashing our heads with our basses. That became a funny thing between us because nobody ever did that before. 👍🏻✌️🤘

There used to be videos of Skid Row's original singer performing songs off the debut album. All of the melodies and lyrics were exactly the same as what Bach recorded. Of course Bach added higher notes and vocal divebombing but that's it. It was clear he had no part of Skid Row's songwriting and musical arrangements and just sang the script that was handed to him.

Without question Sebastian would have been a handful back then. Still is. He was a kid. A KID in an adult job. They all knew that yet they expected an adult for the job. I mean he was immature. He was no doubt highly emotional. Still is. But he has always got the job done. With the good sometimes comes some bad. You don’t get the most beautiful guy with the most amazing voice and not have to accommodate or compromise. He has likely been his own worst enemy for 40 years but at the same time he knows what he does and what he won’t do. He has never failed. He has worked his ass off and nobody can question that. He has taken care of Maria for decades. I hate for people to talk about him from the 80s - I mean really ? This guy here seems like a nice guy. He is very complimentary of Sebastian but people need to clam up about the 80s and how it was working with him. He was basically a child with a phenomenal gift that he hadn’t yet quite honed in on what to do with his amazing talent.

Sebastian did have the perfect voice for it, but those songs could've worked with other vocalists. And to this day, they've never wanted him back. Some people make things unendurable, regardless how good they are at what they do.

I didn't work directly for Skid Row, but I worked with some Canadian bands that opened for Skid Row and Sebastien is now as he was then a childish, loose tempered, cannon, that thought those who didn't praise him were his enemies...IE, He was an a*#hole during Skid Row's beginning, and it was so easy to understand why when Snake Sabo cut him from Skid Row, it made perfect sense and was logical.. Sebastien is, well was, an incredible singer, but there was always a bigger issue with him, he wanted to be famous and when he got the fame he truly didn't know how to handle it and from the crap he's pulling even today, he hasn't changed at all for the better but has gotten worse. He was an incredible singer, but the years since being fired from Skid Rowe, the alcohol and blow has killed his vocal chords and he in no way sings like he used to. And that isn't my opinion, it's based on facts which can be as easily found out about Sebastien, noone has to look far or hard to find that out. Either all of that or the guy has serious mental problems that really need to be addressed. I worked for 30 years touring with rock bands at all levels and I've seen 2 other narcissistic singers like Sebastien, Axl Rose, and Vince Neil. Vince not nearly as bad as Sebastien and Axl, but that's because he was in a band with 2 of the other biggest attitudes in rock and roll then, Nikki Six and Tommy Lee. All that aside, I always loved all the music they all did and the shows I've seen in person with them all were great from an audiences perspective, but the audiences usually don't see the bullshit ego's fighting with themselves onstage. Jon Bon Jovi, ironically is the same. Hence part of the reason Richie leaving Bon Jovi when he did. And while Richie remained silent up to just recently why he left, narciccist John made up all kinds of shit publically, and all well documented in video as well as print, about why Richie left the band. Having experienced Sebastien back on Skid Row's first album tour, I can 100% believe what Chris Doliber is saying about Sebastien because Sebastien was that and much more with Skid Row, causing fights with bands opening on shows with Skid Row, in my case Platinum Blonde, where Sebastien's mouth ended up with Platinum Blonde's singer being grabbed and pulled over barricades by the crowd as the bands were walking to the dressing rooms after sound check, and Platinum Blonde having to cancel their show that night because the singer was the target for the audience because of Sebastien running his mouth about another Canadian singer because Sebastien was trying to convince the world he was American when he first started with Skid Row. Fame went right to his head and to his nose and his already shite attitude just got worse.

He has done nothing but rode coat tails and shit talk everyone in Skid Row while touring and shit talking them on his own tours where his set is 90% Skid Rowe material. I'd strongly suggest you do some research before you spout your opinion of a washed up singer who has really done nothing significant since his fame with Skid Row. And for the record, I worked on a tour as stage and instrument technician that Skid Row was the headliner and the bands I worked with were the openers, so I know what the hell I'm talking about. Which is not a criticism. I just don’t think all those incredible Skid Row bangers and ballads would have ever happened with Madam X. Currently I’m more likely to throw on Madam X because it’s raw, fun, and exciting since I haven’t heard it 9,000,0000 times like all the “big” bands. My favorite stuff has and always been stuff that I’m able to feel personally attached to because it was never pushed on me by the radio or music industry etc.

Seeing my 1st rock show, Alice Cooper in '81 at 10 yro, am proud to say if look up my yearbook photos, one of which picture day was day after Crue Theater tour, in which all of us metalheads who went are wearing the t-shirt, i never got into stupid trend of poofing up hair & looking like a girl. Might as well call me grunge.😅 Hair all one length wearing a t-shirt. Maybe blue jean jacket in a couple, as where most all my metal buddies had mullets, wore parachute pants, & even break-danced as "metalheads".😅 Nothing wrong with that if was your thang. Cheers to the Good Time Memories! 🤘😎 But once prototype for abomination to come, Sam Halen, hit at stroke of midnight '84 with toy piano "Jump" bs & turned bands like Crue & Priest pink & purple i was on to Kreator, Destruction, Voi-Vod, Celtic Frost, Slayer, etc. Also made Metallica & Nirvana look like baby shit to me when went Pop & became new fad that came along & put "Metal" & hair bands out of their misery. So, yeah, Sabastian Bach was always a clown to me. Even before i ever heard a word come out of his gd mouth. What happened in the '80's... SMGDMFH!😅 Rock On! 🤘🌎❤️
