Respectfully disagree. We have the technology today to study and film them in the wild where they belong, where anyone can learn about them from the confort of their own home. Regular folk are taking amazing drone footage of Orcas interacting in a very friendly and NATURAL manner with human beings. Orcas are large sentient beings that don’t belong in forced labor camps. It’s like taking a human being, putting them in a backyard pool for life and forcing them to do entertainment shows several times a day, 24 7. This guy is a deluded joke, blinded by greed and he doesn’t even realize it.

Dawn's injuries: Brancheau was badly bruised, cut, and scraped. Her left elbow and left knee were dislocated. She had multiple broken bones, including ribs, her jaw, and her neck. Her liver had been torn open and her scalp was ripped off. So was her left arm. Yeah that sounds like an accidental killing, just an orca playing.. Are you kidding me? Orca's stay with their mother for the rest of their life, in big pods with the rest of their family. They are caught around 18 months olds and torn from their mother. Their food is withheld so they have to do those tricks in order to get food, if they don't listen, they don't get any.. Don't say they are happy and do it on their own free will. They are in a bathtub size pool with chlorine and other chemicals, that burn their eyes, they stress out and chew on the concrete. They scrape eachother because they don't speak the same language as the other orca's, because they are not from the same pod. Stop defending this abuse and stop blaming Dawn. You abuse these orca's and they act out, that's what happend. It's not Tilikum's fault for being abused and used, for more than 30 years.

I'll explain everything. I am a biologist who has invented a new theory of behavior to replace the flawed one that Sea World was operating under (Operant Conditioning) which holds that you "ignore" aggression. They did ignore aggression. Over and over, hundreds of times, before it caught up with them. They got away with it because they controlled the narrative and they blamed the trainers when aggression occurred, just like your boy Thad did after the incident. He blamed Dawn. The fact that they blamed it on her hair, instead of taking the responsibility is gross. When financial consequences are attached to topics like these, a lot of people will ignore the damage we do to these animals and just keep on supporting animal cruelty. People only want to continue this behaviour because they like seeing them, not because they care about the animals' mental and physical health. I love seeing them too, but their wellbeing is wayyy more important than me "loving to see an orca". Hopefully, with generations, this way of thinking will disappear

    1. Ponytail story is a lie. 2. In their natural habitat killer whales can easily become 100 years old, most animals in Sea World captivity don't even live for half as long, I wonder why that is🤔 3. Lots of female animals have regular miscarriages because of stress, lots of medication in their food and so on (for those not believing that, just look up 'how are animals treated at sea world' on google and you'll find lots of stuff that'll shock you) 4. Comparing wild animals like killer whales to house cats is probably one of the most stupid things I've ever heard. 5. Killer whales need space, they need freedom to live a long and happy live (btw Tilikum was taken from the ocean at age 2 after the animals mother was shot by a harpune and Tilikum didn't want to abandone his dead mother) 6. Killer whales are very intelligent animals, so they know when their treated badly and attacks like the one with Dawn are expressions of their frustration and stuff. 7. Have you ever seen a killer whale in the wild doing even slightly similar movements and stunts they have to do at Sea world? You really think that's normal and the want to do those tricks? 8. There are several former trainers from sea world who openly say that they were part of a system and organization that treated their animals horribly and made their lives miserable Everyone who goes to killer whale shows and similar events is not a friend of animals because you can't go there thinking ' oh those animals most love living in way top small aquariums, doing completely unnatural movements in shows they have to do several times a day. All of my points can be looked up and are facts.

I can't believe that in this day and age we are still saying that it is important to keep wild animals in captivity for our learning purposes. Decades ago perhaps. Bringing magnificent animals, like the killer whale, to our attention in this way, "MAY" have shown us how incredible they are and that they should be protected, (along with the planet that we share with all nature). Now we have so many ways to study these animals in their natural habitat. We don't need to rip them from their families, and cause irreparable damage to them, to "learn" about them. These captive whales are used as money makers, and to allow some people to feel that they have control over something as amazing as an apex predator, and that is the problem in a nutshell. The "killer" whale is a PREDATOR. Tilly did what he was born to do. He wasn't being malicious, (perhaps), but he knew what he was doing. These are amazingly intelligent beings. He was being a killer whale, that was meant to hunt, chase and play with it's prey, and live a stimulating life in the ocean with his family, even if it was dangerous. Saying the whales are safe and fed and should be happy is such crap. My dog has more room to roam on our farm than Tilly did in his pool. Dead fish is not the same as LIVE fish, and the chemical things that happen , (like dopamine production), for a whale when it hunts with his family is TOTALLY missing when being hand fed fish for doing tricks. Go ahead and tell a serious mountain climber that he shouldn't climb K2 because it's dangerous, or an olympic athlete that bobsleds that it's too dangerous and he/she should stay home, safe and sound. What do you think their response would be? "LET ME BE FREE!!!!!! LET ME LIVE MY LIFE, dangers and all!!!! " Unfortunately the captive whales can no longer be set free, especially if they were born in captivity, but if Sea World actually does care about animals, then STOP the breeding!!!!!!!!! No more whales in captivity being used to make humans wealthy. Stop supporting animal acts for the sake of the mighty dollar. And an animal "sanctuary" is not the same as a circus, or zoo. Do what's best for the animals for a change, and not the pocket book.

The whale that played in free Willy, he went through a lot and a lot of people helped with his transition. At the end of the day he essentially died of sheer loneliness. Whales need their families and his family couldn’t be found. His only interaction was people keeping an eye on him with a tracker. Poor beautiful whale.

He might have forgotten, if only for a split second, in his frustration that he is 50x her size, strength and weight and can break her like a stick figure. He probably accidentally hurt her when he let out his rage in a fency. However, SeaWorld is to blame in all instances! Because they are imprisoning these creatures in completely sensory deprived miniature tanks making them bored, frustrated, depressed and needlessly aggressive. Dawn and Tilly both paid with their lives for SeaWorld's animal exploitation.

He died not long after being released, and that was after months of training him to catch live fish and being in a huge tank, and then a cove I believe. He never could fit in with a pod, and tried to interact with humans still. After watching Blackfish I looked at places like SeaWorld completely different, but you also cannot just release these animals into the wild and expect them to survive. Sadly, Keiko's life story proved that.

Maybe you should re-read the information. He spent 2 years being rehabilitated in Oregon, in a much much larger tank, where he finally got healthy and gained two thousand pounds. Then he spent 4 years in Iceland, in what you call a cove, to learn how to live in the ocean. THEN he left on his own and traveled to Norway, possibly following other orca. People may call this a failure because he never joined a pod (he never found his family), but I call it a success that he got to spend 5 years in the ocean with adequate space, catching his own food. Even if he had only had one day of freedom, it’s still better than being trapped inside a tiny concrete pool with not enough stimulation.

Don’t watch this….just block this channel. The host really said since people didn’t want orca in captivity anymore, we’re they also going to release their dogs and other pets. Dogs! Man best friend, who is happy, healthy, live full lives and happy to be apart of your family, domesticated, does not need to hunt etc Vs Orca who are meant to be in the wild, where they live around 60-100years old but only live to 13-30 in captivity. They don’t have enough space to get the exercise they truly need and their dorsal fins loses it collagen and just flap over. The chemicals in the pool water burning their eyes and causing skin diseases, they’re kidnapped at 1-2 years old from their mother and put to work if they want to eat. We know these mammals have stronger family structures than we do and their well being depends on that. Not only that but this disgusting old man is completely full of shit blaming Dawn for her own death “because she didn’t put her hair away”. This man is talking as if he’s the God of training and after he left certain protocols weren’t followed anymore….that even tho he retired he called and begged them to train the dolphin in water work because he knew he would kill someone blah blah blah. Y’all both full of shit and this channel sucks

It's bullshit for them even to have Tilikums trainers perform so called "dry work" (or non water work) with him. Dry work involves submersed ledges like the one Dawn Brancheau was pulled from, he could have easily pulled someone into the water by any area of the body, at any time during those shows. Dawn just happened to be the unlucky ones.

Keeping a killer whale in a swimming pool and forcing it to perform for basic food is not the answer. We need to protect our oceans, stop taking healthy marine mammals out of the wild and build sanctuaries for the ones in captivity. It could be like Safari Park but the marine version in which people can see them at a distance, admire and respect them. I don’t understand why marine parks like Sea World won’t even consider it.

Tilikum really was not aggressive he literally played with her to death but how he said when they tried to get her out he started to get aggressive, that's it it is the same as to try to get the favorite toy from dog's mouth. He loved her she was unique she made the animals happy.

Working with powerful animals you know the risk. Dawn knew the risk. Animals get frustrated just like people they have bad days. Tilikum probably either took play too far or lost his temper about a neutral training response and didn't hold back and be gentle with his trainer like he normally would (although tilli wasn't water trained). He killed her but he did not have malace intent. He was angry or overstimulated he killed her then not understanding what he had done kept a hold of her trying to decide what he was doing next. Animals act on instinct not malace intent the way people do. Tilikum is not to blame but neither is dawn.

This man’s hubris disgusts me. To state that we could “repopulate the ocean” ; after everything dies from our polluting it; with animals raised by humans… is simply ludicrous. The solution isn’t simple but it starts with ceasing to view animals as put on the planet for our use and entertainment. Animals do not need to be trained!

I don’t believe it was any more Tilikum’s fault than it was Dawn’s! Maybe he wasn’t aggressive? He actually had killed 2 people by that point! Kelty Burn who this guy tells about and a man who broke into the Orca enclosure when the park was closed! Tilikum tore that man’s scrotum off! In the morning when the trainers arrived the man Daniele was draped across Tilikum’s back! Maybe he just had bad days? These are such magnificent social mammals, I find it very hard to believe that Tilikum or Orchid or Lolita or any of them have no memories of being with their pods! Who are their families btw. Generations of Orcas in pods as large as 30 or more. As smart as they are… we can always take care and or help them in their natural homes! In this case the deep blue sea. Also the man that trained the dolphins for the flipper show has switched sides too! He said something that stuck with me.. “The Dolphin Smile Is Natures Biggest Deception! It Gives The Illusion That They Are Always Happy!” Hmm 🤔

o.k. i actually caught this tool box lying, at about 11:47 - he's talking about how he believe's all animals parks will be fazed out in the next 50 years, bla bla bla. As he says ''i hope i'm wrong'' he shakes his head left to right as to really be saying no, when he's supposed to nod his head up and down which is what a truthful person would have done trying to say yes. It's a common body language mistake people make when they are lying. It's actually not a mistake, it's just that body language does not lie, and his clearly did in that moment right there. There's plenty of other tells this tool is giving up, that's just an easy one i wanted to point out, go check it out!!
