I lived downtown from 2006 to 2019. It was fabulous. A real boom town. I counted 60 cranes on the skyline at one time! I watched several skyscrapers go up. I saw the largest (at the time) tunnel boring machine making the waterfront tunnel. I saw them tear down the old 1950 era double decker waterfront viaduct and rebuild massive piers. What engineering marvels, and Seattle has been doing grand things like this throughout its existence. It is such a walkable city too. I got rid of my car, rented out my deeded parking, and used that money to rent a boat slip on Lake Union in downtown. Could walk to my boat, take it to Lake Washington or out through the locks and into the Puget Sound.

Lmao, nope. You gotta surpass San Francisco and LA first. Both are which are building towers of their own. San Francisco is the second most densely populated city in the US after NYC. It’s also built way more densely, than Seattle, and has more number of completed skyscrapers, as mentioned. San Francisco is the true Manhattan of the west. They share similarities. The waterfront, bridge, density, public transportation (obviously NYC is way better) but you get my l point.

@@californiamade5608 LA doesn't have a skyline lol. San Franciscos does have a nice skyline but not as many >150m skyscrapers as Seattle. Seattle have about double SF's skyscrapers. SF has 27, Seattle has 52, NY has 309. Those are facts as of October 2022.

@@kevinmanan1304 you are lying out your behind. Seattle has 24 over 492 feet (150 M) San Francisco has 28, because they are constructing 30 S Van Ness which adds to the count. I know my numbers. Los Angeles has 33 skyscrapers. The most of any city on the west coast. If Seattle had 52 it would be the 4th largest skyline in the US surpassing Houston. 🤣 so you’re wrong. Also, not sure where you got that from but Google is free. And so is access to information released by council on tall buildings and urban habitat. Seattle is the 7th largest skyline in the US, after San Francisco. LA is 5th, Houston is 4th, Miami, 3rd, then Chicago, NYC. ✌🏼

@@californiamade5608 LA is all sprawl; doesn't have a skyline lol. Seattle has 5 more skyscrapers under construction, unlike the leaning Millennium Tower Seattle towers don't lean which is why we have twice as many lol.

I love how walkable Seattle is, I will admit it has its problems, traffic, and a pretty dirty downtown, but if you know where to go, it’s a great city.

This video says it was posted 1 year ago but it talks about the new Rainier Tower being completed in 2020. That sounds about right, it finished somewhere around there an is now the cities second tallest at 850' I think. Very cool looking building. The original Rainier Tower that's right next door that has the skinny base was designed by the same Japanese architect that designed the original twin towers in New York City. An there's plenty of similarities between the original Rainier Tower and the World Trade Center buildings. The vertical lines on the exterior look very similar to me anyway. I really hope they build that 4C building some day, I would love to see a new tallest building in Seattle an one that reaches the Super Tall category. Seattle doesn't have one of those because of the airport just south of the city. The Columbia Tower, if that's what it's still called (Seattle's tallest) was originally supposed to be over 1000 feet but the FAA recommended shortening it an that's what they did. Despite that it was the tallest building in the USA west of the Mississippi River for a few years. I doubt Seattle will ever own that distinction again unless either that airport shuts down or all planes go to vertical takeoff & landing. Neither seems very possible. Bummer. But I'd at least like to get one super tall in Seattle, the Columbia Tower is about 60 feet short of that. Super talls are 300 meters, I don't know exactly what that is in feet but it's right about 989 feet. Columbia Tower is like 935 or so.

B.S. Downtown has turned into an open homeless sewer in the last 3 years. Businesses are moving out and people are telecommuting so all the high tech buildings are fairly empty. I expect a huge amount of empty commercial space over the next few years.
