    You missed the perfect opportunity to mess with her. WHen she asked if fluid would come out I would have been very tempted to say yes, starter fluid. Great on ya for teaching her. My wife knew nothing about cars when we met in 2007. She is a fairly decent mechanic now.

    she has finished the alternator, so the starter will go ok, just the mounting bolts can be a pain, she has an advantage having good teacher and using professional tools is a huge benefit, those new reduction drive starter units are nice, not as heavy as the old ones, don't miss those , great job Mara

    My M1009's gear reduction is a monster. I can't imagine putting in a direct drive.

    This was another good how to video Eric. As a backyard mechanic I have to admit that i did have to laugh a few times lol. She did do a good job. Congrats Mara, good job!

    It's OK, we take it off every few years and pound the dent's out...Just like the old dirt track racers did.

    Work on a fullsize sedan (60-70-80-90) or Truck, and there isnt no reaching down from the top, its all underneath. :)

    There are some things (like starters) that should be all done from under the vehicle.

    Tried, must have a bad armature, keeps burning one brush off.

    @@offroadrecoveryteam If you have a local electrical shop that specializes in starter rebuilding, alternators, etc. give it to them & see what they can figure out with it? May cost you a few bucks, but I would hedge a bet that it would be less than a new winch......
