Shjelde! Really good video :D Good arguement on the Blood Moon event right there! Think the event could turn up a lot more fun than it has been so far.. I really enjoyed it for like the first week of Phase 2 but it got too meta-game for my taste where instead of total chaos, it became too much "optimized for max coins" A future Classic+ has to be the endgame for Blizzard here, I think that's what they have to do to keep Classic going longterm. Seasons are nice, but I think they have to work toward something, so I hope they take some lessons from SoD and apply that toward a potential Classic Plus (what worked, and what didn't work etc) Looking forward to future vids!

I'm currently playing on turtlewow and it feels like playing WoW for the first time again like back in 2006 for me, that's an incredible feeling seeing some added highelf zones you just stumble upon, so familiar yet just different enough to inspire curiosity.

The only real complaint I have with SOD is involving new content. If turtle wow has managed to bring new content how the hell does the company who makes the game not done so? One thing they could have done that would have helped leveling speed (opposed to incursions) would be adding a bunch of new quests to all the zones. So many unused areas in these zones that could be quests areas and yet they didn’t add any. I was excited to see that they added a dungeon in phase 4 but I don’t even trust their wording on that. It’s probably gonna be running one of the dungeons in reverse or some dumb shit instead of something truly new.

@@antonkokic no I mean something NEW they could flesh out the zones they never did in the past, add new quests, class quests something new. Incursions weren’t good content, blood moon is okay but not everyone likes PVP

I think there is two sides: basic time sink "Classic" with new content VS Alt friendly, try all the new classes, Casual, play with friends, minimal investment. They tried to merge these two and that's where all the friction comes from.

Really enjoyed your video and the one you are reacting to. I felt that SoD was so promising in Phase 1, but it went off the rails in Phase 2. Too many runes, gear too overpowered, and a complete lack of respect for the open world. The incursions were a huge disappointment. I was hoping we'd get an actual dungeon at the emerald dream portals -- four new dungeons over the course of levelling that maybe took us back to the history of each of the dragons or something that gives a nod to the Bronze Dragon flight protecting the timeline, kinda dovetailing with the Test of Lore quests in Thousand Needles and how lore was expanded in tbc. So many things could've been done to expand vanilla, expand the content, but not lose the flavor. I will continue with SoD a bit, but I am feeling pulled back to class era. Maybe soon. We will see ...

The video is pretty spot on. There is no new content. Changing stats on gear isn't content. I want different layouts, mobs, mob abilties, and bosses. More dungeons that are relavant. Im not raid logging again. Delete everything related to incursions. Oh, dont for get bots. Basically ruined 1/2 the game.

Im not going back to SoD full time the economy isnt worth it imo I just dont get excited over it for whatever reason the one exception is only doing pvp and AV ( I might be able to level and have fun doing it finally ..MAYBE lol) and if i want to raid in a particular dungeon I will be able to that way. I have been in Cata mostly and have started to level a toon in MOP remix for the WW. Ive not played retail a lot and these three expansions coming up have my curiosity peaked for sure. SoD will prolly get a pop increase but it wont last long. I know they said that about Cata but from what I see Cata is still going strong and I love that!

FOR ME: I went in assuming that there would be some class balancing and the introduction of some spells for classes that needed them to be viable. (for ex: pally taunt) It was my own assumption that caught me off guard when they added tons of changes for every class and new spells for everyone. Even after all of that I still played it, however, incursions was the last straw for me. If they left classic as it was, with minor class changes, and then they just focused purely on new dungeons, new artistic locations, fun easter eggs. I think it would have done a lot better. Season 1 was so much fun for me, albeit a bit long. I dont think each season needed its own raid tier, and i don't think the seasons needed to be gate kept quite so long. Focused all that attention at level 60 and left the leveling experience as unadulterated as possible, I would have liked it more. Again, just from my own perspective.

I’ve dropped out of the game it’s been so long I lost all feeling for p4. I’ve started other games. I informed my guild the other day.

I've given SOD a chance time to go back to turtle wow.

I just want to transfer to a server thats not dead.. they got only a few weeks before SOD feels dead to me. I know Im not the only one.. if they wanna save this at all they need to add transfers..

I’ve had a fun time playing SoD and haven’t really quit, I bounce between it and retail every few days so I don’t burn out. I will say that Incursions are the worst activity I’ve ever done in this game despite how rewarding they were. Vanilla WoW didn’t need repeatable quests. It needed new quest chains added to unfinished zones, more flight paths and transportation methods around the world to make zone bouncing easier.

If you could pvp I would play it shamans being able to one shot took the fun out of it for me

IP is just being straight up held hostage...many such cases

16:50 then rogues and druids just go stealth and wait until the event end. There are no solutions for that issue.

SoD wasn’t nearly enough of the “classic+” that I and probably many others were hoping for.. phase 1 was fun for a bit but the hype died shortly past launch for me.. a lot of private servers still try harder to get a classic+ vibe going than SoD does

I was so big on SoD, had like 6 25's phase 1, mained a few of them into phase 2, and then phase 3 just completely ruined the game. I can dive into all those reasons but if you played it then you know exactly what im talking about. I hit level 50 on one guy, obtained a few new runes, but ultimately had zero desire to pursue any end phase content. Oh well, classic cata was a silver lining

They needed a way to speed people up who quit in the past. This is a seasonal server, it has an end and I think what they’ve learned will lead to classic+

You might not like SOD, that is 100% fair. I however belive it it by far the best ever version of wow, and it is not even close. I have been playing since 2005.

@@RandyRadium Nothing.. I am also not saying it is perfect, there is a ton of issues with it. But.. For me, it gives me alot of what i felt was missing in vanilla wow, without complitely missing the vanilla feel. I am not a die hard classic andy, but i have not had a single good experience with wow since Vanilla cata. I like the class changes, even tho i dont like the rune system. I think the phases has been too long, but i also think the low level raids has been a fun experience. I would just like a rated arena/BG system, so i´d have a reson to play PvP, and lose the rune system, other than that i think it´s been mostly greate.

Playing turtle wow again, after playing sod and coming back to turtle it's crazy how a private server can do vanilla so well but blizz cant

I've played pservers before TWoW but I can honestly say it's incredible. New leveling and end game content is great. I've discovered more in my 2 months on TWoW than the entirety of SoD. Soon Kara40 as tier 3.5 raid is coming. The server is progressed but many players are still gearing out characters and naturally playing the game. There is no fomo that you have to keep up with friends or that your time is running out when a new phase drops. Population has been very helpful and far less toxic than classic. It has a few cosmetic things in a cash shop but overall has the classic feel and is a blast to play.

My god. The 101st sod video and another rant about incursions. Haha we get it. We are also playing the game.

I quit cause bots, ngl gdkp to, was never a buyer was jus a simple way to get gold well raiding. lastly the player count (Living flame), weeks ago i couldnt find more then 30 players in org at one time

I resubbed to catch up in p3 on Living Flame and there are basically no groups for anything. Met one person running incursions who cussed me out for not knowing how to do the loop my first time.

Way more alive than Cata is the biggest stretch imaginable and a very subjective sentence probably made by you playing SoD & not playing Cata, or you liking SoD & not liking Cata. If you want SoD to feel more alive, it will, because of your actions. Maybe you play it more & get more chances of seeing it being active, or maybe you go out of your way to actually do something in that version of the game which makes it active for you. It's a subjectively percieved reception of reality where you tend to see / find what you are looking for. Like if I tell you to go outside and tell me how many blue cars you saw, you will look for blue cars and tell me. However if I ask you how many red cars you saw it's likely "no idea" because you weren't looking for them. By objectively looking at any number available to us this is so far from true it's ridicilous. However I will not dispute that people are back and preparing for P4, but "SoD is way more alive than Cata" is the verbal equivalent of the people that said "Cata will be dead on arrival. Just wait. Noone will play it", which is the equivalent of saying "The earth is flat".

@@divinghero9776 Nice strategy now that you know my comment made sense & you have no other comeback than to attack me & my content. This is the equivalent of you saying 1+1=3, me correcting you by saying "Actually, 1+1=2", and you reply with "yo mama fat".

It's not about what they could do but what they decided to do. We get it, you wanted new zones and quests. That would be nice but apparently was never their intention. They focused on class overhaul and mass gear re-itemization. You think that's easier than importing ready made zones from other expansions and making 1000 fetch and kill quests? Maybe not what you wanted but for me that was very important. I would never have tried to paladin class on a vanilla era server if it was only possible to play as healer. They should be judged on what they intended to provide. A seasonal vanilla era server with class and item changes with a little bit of extra content. I am not saying they did a great job on that either but with the exception of a few (but significant) bad decisions in p3 (which totally botched it) it was mostly OK. If it was better tested it would have been great. As for the game "forcing" you to play a certain way, I'm sorry but that's strictly a try-hard problem. I, as a casual had no problem treating incursions as a daily quest mode from the beginning. It was too boring to approach as anything else anyway. And I don't feel compelled to collect all world buffs and raid 5 times a week on each character on p4 either. I do what is fun for as long as it is fun. This isn't a job, at least not for me. I wish there was some way to separate servers between casuals and try-hards but unfortunately that is impossible

Blizz should double all drop rates for reagents for crafting because game is too grindy and only those semi hardcore or more so, play. We need more casuals to play. Game is balanced around consumes, im burning 30g per hour in raid from consumes, consumes should be more abundant so we can all potion junkies as was intended without feeling the pressure of the grind.

SoD made so many changes that it no longer feels like wow classic. The point of SoD was to get ideas for a future classic + but when you change almost everything how can you get an idea of what is actually a good change and what is not? Honestly, I would have been happy with ONLY phase 1 runes (maybe a few additions or tweaks) until 60. Blizzard could have just added new content, items, gear, raids, pvp zones and the game would would feel different but still within the confines of wow classic.

Its painfully clear to me that devs wont put in the effort and content needed for SoD to survive, and expects us to play another version of wow instead of fixing SoD. At this point SoD was the only version of WoW that was slightly interesting and they could have put alot more effort Into it, but doubled down on cata and retail instead, and however phase 4 goes, its a little to late.

It's clear as a day to anyone with half a brain. It's not classic+, it's not vanilla, it's not any type of classic. It's retail with a classic skin. On top of everything, they didn't create ANYTHING, they didn't build ANYTHING. They didn't build new dungeons, they didn't build new questing zones, new starter zones, they didn't add new zones that were missing from the vanilla, they didn't build like actually build new raids, they didn't expand and add new quests. They simply didn't do ANYTHING.

What do you mean, they did a bazillion class changes we didn't need and spent their dev time trying to perfectly balance a "seasonal" server. All we wanted was a pally tank spec, mana issues fixed for spriest/boomkin, and maybe a viable Shaman tank spec to balance out the number of available tanks. What we got were a bunch of changes we didn't need and all the dev time taken away from actual new content.

@@jmcke802 And what did that accomplish? Instead of taking risks on a SEASONAL server and create actual classic plus content, they did trash changes to classes that nobody asked for and transformed classic into a retail with a classic skin.

Honestly I don't know if new content was the issue per-se, the bigger problem that's you've discussed is that when you subvert SUPERIOR old content with awful new content that offers better rewards, you are actively eroding the game experience away from the more enjoyable experiences. Sure, SOD could have been better with more new content, but frankly SOD would have also been better by simply adding more loot to legacy dungeons like BRD. Perhaps increasing the difficulty. Wild Offerings were a great way to breathe new life into the old content, for example - but they invalidated that as well by letting you skip directly to Princess and kill only one boss in Mara for some reason while every other dungeon requires 3 (WHY???). Anyway I get that the WOW classic team is trying hard to do a good job here, but when it comes to predicting the gaming metas they're creating with their changes they just keep falling directly on their faces.

Sods time system is a utter failure. The way you get them highly discourages alts and new players are turned off by the amount of work just to get your runes for most classes too

Yeah when you put it like that man they really messed up with this. The whole direction was focues to much on class revamps and runes instead of new content leave the classes alone and give us new vanilla content like we asked for.

Thank God Dawntrail is out. Screw this failed experiment.

SoD was at 60k players total under 2 weeks ago and is down to 40k players right now. Obviously there will be a spike on July 11th but a lot of people aren't coming back and how long will the people who do come back keep playing?

People just dont realize they try new stuff and they want feedback on it. People being so fcking negative, if you dont enjoy it stop play. I had no complains about the phases, be open-minded, let them try new stuff. Still better game then retail and cata anyways.

For me its simply to late... Been too long. Dont feel like rebuilding my guild from ground 0 since all my members quit. Also my Warrior is useless and sadly i dont think just WB will be enough to bump up the damage vs classes who have runes helping them. So ye... Ill just raid log on Cata and enjoy HC RAIDs there

@@ripedroxx in P3 you had runes tho. In P4 what do you have ? Gear and WB and your runes have been taken away. Only good ones is the new execute rune + a 5minute Recklessness. Other classes got powerfull runes so Mages / Shamans / Rogues will be topping metres. Maybe with gear and WB Warriors will be good but that's something untested since Blizzard refuses to give WB on PTR

75% of the people that “quit” are simply playing another version of wow. July 11th most of them if not all will be back. This is how wow has always worked since 2004 and will continue to be that way forever. Like a seesaw

I’m playing Classic Era but let’s face it, I get bored doing the same content forever so I take breaks. I wish they could make a classic plus that captured the spirit of classic wow. But you’re right. I haven’t totally quit WoW. I still like this game. If Era went away I’d probably go away never come back though.

Incursions straight up killed any joy or hope that I had for SoD, impossible to trust a team who adds stuff like that the game.

I know people will come back just to be world first level 3 MC world first people have their characters parked and waiting

we are all wow fans and blizzard know it so they explore us making a bullshit version of the game we love

Blizzard have always been REALLY bad at making up new stuff, however they've always been excellent at improving upon other's idea. right now they seem too be trying too make new stuff instead of just stealing other's ideas and improving on them, which always ends badly for blizzard :P

Honestly I think it's because of ST is kind of hard for the boomers I go with three Guild to ST The one guild continues to complete it every week The other guild as soon as they completed it they stopped doing it and the guild I'm doing it now with hasn't completed it at all in his phase it just reminds me of a mystic dungeon and I think the boomers don't like that kind of game style it's seen the raid was made for the streamers and don't even play anymore I wow developers stop making content for streamers and make it for boomers for SoD and make hard raid for retail

Phase 1 wad beatiful but now Phase 3 has become too toxic. Raid Logging and Parses are a requirement to even enter raids. If you pug prepare to waste 5 hours on some dumb dumb to learn mechanics. SoD made it too difficult when classic was supposed to be EASY! Back then you just move out of the fire and keep spamming Shadow Bolt. 1 button rotation. It should be so simple that it is able to be played on consoles or even mobile.

It feels like theres nothing classic about season of discovery. There is no "new" in the past few phases. And this phase was even more disappointing than phase 3. Where is the Scarlet Monastary raid? Where is the Azshara Moba? Where is the completion of the Syndicate questline, Where is the new dungeons in currently existing in the lore areas? What about "new spells" and "having to do annoying quests to get the spells" is new and fun?

a swing and a miss. Many got baited into playing this version past season 2-3. Nope. I'm out.

SoD is boring, look what private servers are capable of doing and what blizzard did. Blizz give the private server devs jobs and let them do their magic

lot people are on ptr but cata really hurt sod because dev made it the number 1 option. Rremember cata = extra money,boost and shop, This is why sod was put on back burner. SOD WAS BAIT AND CATA WAS THE HOOK and we fell for it

You are spot on. I returned to WoW when SoD was releasesd then i got bored and jumped into Cata in phase 3. Cata made me forget all about SoD and i was hooked on Cata.

Actually, complaining DOES help making the game better. Telling the developers what you don't like, helps them by either A: Removing that thing from the game, if enough people don't like it, or B: Learn from their mistake & don't repeat it in the future. Complaining is a huge part of helping a game get better, especially with a company like Blizzard. A lot of what's being called "Complaining" is also me highlighting what I think is bad for the game, AND usually highlighting a possible solution, if not multiple possible solutions, literally giving them a feedback-loop.

sod is the worst version of wow i have played to date. i could list many things why but everyone knows already. luckily it is just a seasonal thing

I dont agree at all with the hate or the complaints against SoD... basically if you wanted more challenging and longer time spent in dungeons like scarlet monastery or blackrock depths go play classic era.. If you dont like classic wow being split into 4-6 phases with each phase having a raid and that raid made the next phase quest gear irrelevant.. go play classic era! If you dont like the bloodmoon event that a lot of people played, enjoyed, and bothered with because blizz actually gave you better rewards for participating in the event... go play classic era.. does the bloodmoon event have the same or better rewards in era than bloodmoon event in SoD? I bet it doesnt and if it doesnt then that means less people bothered to participate and put their time into it. You got to pvp more in each SoD phase instead of waiting until the final phase where they gave you the rank 14 grind in era. SoD is mostly dead atm for two big reasons: 1. banning gdkps - killed the interest in a lot of people why? because WoW is a gear game.. easier access to gear means more fun to be had and gdkp was a great way to dodge bad systems that are less fun and waste your time like masterlooter loot council raids and MS>OS "we're a lazy raid guild" with an awful raid loot system. 2. Cata classic release took a lot of SoD player base.. why is that? because cata classic gave the best of both worlds in WoW... the raids are better, the pvp is waaaaay better especially with rbgs, and the class mechanics and class fantasy is better with the new talents and mechanics etc. SoD in p4 will refill in players again though because people love "new content" new patches and new phases and hopefully those changes made to molten core make it more enjoyable... if not.. just go back to era or enjoy somthing better like cata classic :)

After gdkp ban it was doomed. Without gdkp ppl loose interest too fast. Ordinary pugs began to require purple logs to clear raids that were even easier than the original vanilla. People without purple logs could not get into the raid and began to leave the game. Then Raid leaders and raiders started to loose interest too but there is no gdkp to keep the interest up, they left too. Blizzard completely ignored flyhacking bots which was the original problem not the gdkps. It's done, SoD is dead, gj blizz
