I agree with this to an extent. I’d say that most of the episodes were good, but 1, 7 and 8 were all below average. That being said, series 4 was consistently worse, and it’s lows were lower in my opinion.

Most of the episodes were really bad and had to rely on catering to older season fanservice like the return of Unity after 5 entire seasons just for her to have a pretty minor role and it feels like outside of the important episodes the fillery ones feel like Rick and Morty got reset to season 1 and had 0 character development

I used to really enjoy rick and morty, and I thought the Spaghetti episode was absolutely stupid. I just turn the episodes off after the first 4 minutes. Everything is just dumb now. And the voices are wrong. They sound wrong. Put a real vocal comparison up, and they don't sound tonaly correct.

@@MrFraknak Yeah, some people seem to really like the spaghetti episode, but I thought it was just pointless shock. Season 7 had 3 good episodes: 1) Unmorticken - Rick kills Rick Prime, good but not great I don't think. 2) The afterlife episode with Bigfoot, etc, good, but again not great I don't think, and 3) The season finale' fear-hole, a very good episode, probably the season's best. Everything else is mediocre or worse. As so many others have said, the Numericons episode was absolutely awful. Far and away the worse episode of the entire series.

I mean, the ‘apparent’ good episodes were the ones I skipped and cringe laughed at. The rest of the series, bar 3-4 jokes, even more so.. this series of Rick & Morty was so bad.. I almost cringe laughed at every joke… personally, that’s not good, laughing because I feel like I have to, due to understanding that the really good ol’series which had some odd episodes here and there.. sure, will never return but worse than that.. I’d rather take sex dragons and incest babies any day, of any week rather than sit through another season 7. Subliminal fact.

Problem is after Season 3 they just made Rick a Mary Sue, so you didn't care if he died or who he was up against because he always had clones, implants and other limitless powers that literally made him a Mary Sue.

Yea this. I watched the season and was mostly disappointed. There were cool and fun moments but overall, the story and presentation were lackluster. Not much that we haven't seen before. Same copy pasted plot devices like clones, existential fear and morality whatever you wanna call the philosophy.

100% agree about it being the worst season. I didnt enjoy it. No sub plot is the worst decision they could have made. Idk if ill even come back for season 8 seeing as its been on a solid decline since season 4. There wasnt a single episode i was like "yea, that was fun"

I agree, except the last episode. The final was good it kept me guessing and was actual like the old episodes. But other than that I was fairly disappointed. There were a few ok episodes, but the standard feels sub-par to what it used to be. Even season 5-6 had better episodes mostly. I cant belive they wasted the Rick Prime fight on a single episode, not giving the satisfaction to the audience. It was more like a fuck you to everyone wanting to see Rick finally catch Rick Prime. I know people excuse it saying "The point of the thing is to feel empty" Yes the ending, not the entire episode! The fact that Evil Morty came in and showed Rick up was too much for me. Evil Morty already beat Rick, but mostly cause he had both prep time and the cover as a harmless Morty. Now all of the sudden he is even smarter than both of the smartest Ricks. Not only that but it felt so rushed. I didn't get time to get into caring about what happen because there was no emotional escalation at all. I think they should have gone slower built momentum, let Rick figure it out with Morty, not Evil Morty to show that with Morty, Rick would be better than Rick Prime. Then ended with the same emptiness. It would show that revenge isn't as satisfactory as Rick thought but the audience would get some satisfaction during the chase and built the emotional steps of showing how important Morty actually is to Rick. They could have shown Morty being used as a human shield but that Morty having grown tougher and smarter and been more useful than he was in this episode. There could never be satisfying ending since it would never bring Diane back. But at least we as viewers would feel something during the fight. Some fear for either Rick or Morty dying, but I felt like they were going to win either way because Evil Morty was there and shown to be God. I feel like a lot of people was happy to just get to see some action and chase even if it could have been done way better. It felt rushed, it was no time to feel like you cared and there was unsatisfactory and emptiness more because Evil Morty beat Rick Prime and Rick didn't. Not because Rick killed him. Think about any superhero movie where the main character has a fight with their foe, and right at the climactic final battle a side character comes and beats the main bad guy while the hero is out. Its not as satisfying as the main hero finding a way to defy the odds and beating the bad guy with help from the side character. That's how I see it, revenge stories dont have emptiness as the feeling you should sit with as an audience, but empathy for the emptiness the character feels. They did it with the Unity episode where Rick almost kills himself at the end. The ending after was good but the whole episode up until then was wasted potential with a lot of good components only used at its bare minimum. Compare the fight with Bird Person and you get the idea of how a dramatic and emotional fight looks like. I see people prais the episode for being empty, but the viewer shouldn't feel empty at least not until that very last scene like they did the first season they were circling back too. The emptiness was in the moment not the whole episode. So to me this was a waste of potentially the best episodes they could have made.

Was that an actual decision that they made? I can't think of it out the top of my head, but now that you mentioned it: I guess we did habe several sub plots in the past, like the Jerry Day care (don't think every episode had that). But yeah man, it was completely lacking here wasn't it? I knew something was off! I still enjoyed a lot of it and was really pleasantly surprised by the new voice actor, but that was a dumb decision for sure!

I thought Season 7 was pretty fun overall. The spaghetti episode, fear hole, prime, jerricky, pope, and the audit episodes were probably close around my top ten

I actually really enjoyed this season like alot!!! The premier while not the best from R and M, was solid for me! Sure it got a little rough after Rickfending your Mort but the last two episodes absolutley saved it! It's proably in my top 3 seasons tbh! Amorte was also really good too but Unmorticken.... bloody unforgettable! And yeah, keep doing Rick and Morty videos in the future i really like your take on this show

I agree with DTE. This was by far the worst season. A couple good episodes, but nothing great, and yes the Numbericons episode was absolute awful.

This show has changed so much maybe its just not for me anymore. I wanted to like Unmortricken but I just couldn't. I haven't cared for the "dead wife" plot line since it was a joke in season 3 and later on Rick told me to "stfu about it" I was told not to take it seriously and now I am supposed to??? The humor is just asinine like "Morty, get the net" like ha ha ha if there's no humor just stop trying. There is zero rewatchability in that episode besides the good voice acting and ig the animation. Whatever happened to Vat of Acid comedy??

Honestly all of them. Like if you’re a fan you should watch them at least once but I’m a huge fan and I just hate it so much. They made a whole episode of ice T fighting numbers it was so so bad. The only one I have actually enjoyed was the fear hole one, but I just love horror so that’s why I liked it.

based the rewatchability of this season is horrid. If youre still curious I would say the last two episodes are season 3 levels of quality which I did enjoy. If you happen to like Evil Morty's multiverse plot and the Rick Prime plot then watch episode 5. And if you want to watch morty's mindblowers but slightly worse watch episode 6. And if youre bored watch the second episode but I doubt you happened to like all of those things if you quit before season 5 like me. Hope this helped :) Side note: If you REALLY hate the comedy from recent seasons dont watch any of season 7 its reddit/tumblr jokes now.

Despite disagreeing on this being the worst season, I do really respect how it feels like you are genuinely expressing your opinion and also giving praise where you find it fit, for me despite some of the lows I like this season as it feels like the show is trying to get its groove back, no overuse of meta humor(mostly), no belittling the audience for wanting the story and trying to tell the story at the same time, it finally tries to play it straight I feel. (I do feel like episodes like the quado one and the pope one still fall into the recent season problems though, which is a shame since the setup for both episodes could of been really fun if they did managed to play it straight like how they did for the other good episodes this season)

Love this type of comment. We disagree but you’ve come in with respect and I’m thankful. Rick and Morty to me is still the best sitcom on tv. I use to watch TONS of sitcoms but grew bored. This season wasn’t all that for me. But it’s still better than the rest of what the shows mostly have to offer

I think the biggest reason why it’s not the worst for me is that some episodes were mid, but the ones that were good were GOOD. Like the fear hole one, the spaghetti, the one with evil morty and Rick prime were all goated.

I just feel like something is missing. I think it’s the old voices I really notice it with the humor and execution in how the new voice actors interact with each other too. But maybe I’m nostalgia baiting

While the voices are a little off, I think they're fine for the most part. I think the writing is more the problem. While there were a few good episodes, to me it largely feels recycled and tired. I agree with you that something is missing.

The inflections , when they yell and stutter and cut each other off and stumble over words.. you can REALLY tell. I also pay close attention to all speech and words like IRL.

There were ytbers that had waaay better impressions they could have used. For season 7 the battle with his rival episode wasn't so bad. Wasn't the best but at least for once it wasn't more filler. You honestly can't be suggesting that this season was worse quality than the dragon episode. The dragon episode in season 4 was horrendous.

Same here, not only the episode itself but the placement of episode 5 as episode 5 and not as a finale was just an amazing subversion of my expectations in the best way possible. And episode 10 was one of the first episodes in the show since the early episodes that left me sitting there staring at a blank screen going over it over and over again. However the only thing I differ with you is I liked rise of numiwhatever episode. The fact is was so ridiculous made it enjoyable for some reason, like one of those films so bad you like it. It’s by no means good and I’d much rather another episode but it’s there and it’s funny how bad it is. If it found a way to lean into its ridiculousness and make fun of it without other saturating itself with meta commentary it would’ve been classic Rick and Morty, but alas it wasn’t. Anyway keep up the good work bro 😁

I threw on the first Episode and literally thougt that the best thing they could do at this point was just to let the series go to rest. Episode 5 was a banger tho

I really enjoyed this season, I really hated episode 8 (I couldn’t even finish it) but I really enjoyed the rest. I hope that season 8 will be able to fit into its own shoes. Most of this seasons voice work was just dubbing over Justin. Next season the voice actors can really make the character and their dynamic shine. I’m pretty excited for season 8

It's Jon Allen. I thought something wasn't 100% with Poopybutthole's voice - that's another one that Justin Roiland used to do. I thought I read that somewhere ages ago (before S7) as to who does which voices, but I could BARELY find anything online about who voices Poopybuttole now, nor that Justin Roiland used to voice him. The only mention of Justin Roiland's voices were for Rick and Morty, but I think he must've done several others not just Poopybutthole. Someone is cleansing the info from the internet? The internet seems like a sucky, sinister and deceiving place so often nowadays.

Cuz of some comments I feel like throwing out there that Roiland being fired has nothing to do with season 7 sucking. He was there for season 5 (bad), and 6 (worse). The last good season was 4, and even that was a sharp quality drop from season 3. THE REAL ISSUE HERE IS THE DEAL THEY STRUCK WITH ADULT SWIM AFTER SEASON 3! Prior to that they said they made every season as if it would be the last. They struck the deal, kicked back, and everything became that’ll do. They don’t care anymore and they don’t need to.

I think the the flashback in episode 4 can make a grown man cry

haven’t watched any of it yet. Forgot about it after the Roiland crap happened. Not that he is not a shitty person or whatever, but was still falsely accused and found innocent and therefore theoretically unfairly terminated. I think every episode was at least solid except the Kuato and Numbericons. Amorte, Rick Prime showdown and Fear Hole episodes were amazing.

It’s not Rick & Morty, it’s just a stupid, dumber version of original content that would’ve been some of the best episodes of the entire franchise that’s been teased since the first series, the season 7 is just a unoriginal gore fest, replaced with/by ‘hoops & family-guy to bobs fkn burgers’ humour and even then, it’s all strapped together to look like the grandson and grandpa duo, that everyone DID love at some point.. no seriously, what a shite season (season 7 actually is), I mean it.. wow, I’m glad there’s only a few more seasons and we at least got 6, that were original, not contrived, forced, group sessions or dissected each joke to try to Frankenstein the humour, story, plot telling or portraying to even art style/original content… to be Rick & Morty when it’s not.. this is… it’s just a mess, and I mean IS the worst series of Rick & Morty ever. It’s REALL REAALLLLLY bad, personally, maybe the ending was sub par, just.. like, wow tho… what a way to kill off a icon. Such a terrible husk of a show now.

Honestly, i agreed with everything (except the wong one) about what you said. While i definitely dont think it was rhe worst cause that's season 4 in my opinion, wet kuan was so dull, thr first episode was actual horseshit and numbericons was so boring i died. (Except the infinity character he was kinda funny). The lows wete low, but the highs were definitely high enough for me to accept the lows. Besides, they were very far and few between for me. Id rather take 1 mid episode and 2 bad ones per season (season 7) than 3 bad episodes and 2 mid ones (season 4 imo) but I see where you're comibg from and i respect your opinion :)

Although I don't think Season 7 is the worst, (that would go to 4 or 5 for me) I do think that in no way should a season have so many bad episodes. Each season in the past only had 1 or 2 REALLY BAD episodes but half of this season felt unwatchable after finishing up. I genuinely felt uncomfortable after some of the episodes and wanted my time back. I still think Season 7 had the best serial development so far and I am very excited to see what comes in Season 8

Episode 7 was by far the worst all the character development for morty went out the window like wtf, it made morty look more pathetic then usual and the open your mind bullshit was mad annoying

in my opinion I hated the Mort Ragnorick episode and basically almost every episode, I mean I agree that it was slightly better then other episodes, but dude literally this shit was so dry, it was like it was written by chatgpt, and the storyboarding was ass, almost every scene was like one of the old wendy commercials or the pibby april fools joke

I feel like this season had some of the lowest lows while not having as many highs to even the field. There is stuff that is good, but that was only about 2 or 3 episodes to me and even those were not within the realm of greatness I hoped for. This season gave us some really memorable situations though. I mean we had Evil Morty teaming up, we had Diane being on screen for quite some time, there even was a long fight against Rick prime... Yet I did not find these things are as impactful in presentation than earlier drama. They kind of just happen. I also feel like this season "resolved" many conflicts from earlier seasons in ways that aren't all that satisfying. Even worse I feel like the first half of the season is pretty much overloaded with references to earlier jokes and situations instead of going for anything new or original. I feel like there was very little creativity in this season, as well as not that many solid themes being used. Overall this season felt less deep than almost all other seasons, which is kind the reason why I enjoy this show in the first place.

And despite that, it also had arguably two of the best episodes in the series.

@@jaspermcgloin6728 I like the whole, but Rick Prime seemed rushed and mediocre. I think that describes most of the season 7. Most episodes feel underdeveloped. It seems like they should've taken more time to figure how work with all the changes.

Everything that made the series stand out and or amazing is completely absent in season 7. The burping and all of the off the cuff random improvised material that Roiland would have brought is noticeably gone, so you end up having a show where no one acts like they other wise should. It’s a shame, Roiland was the show.

S7 felt like the creators were confused what the show is gonna be about. It's embarrassing. I didn't like even 1 epi of s7. It was just episode dump.

7x10 was perfect season finale i ve ever seen , 7x5 could be more better rick prime died so easy, he was more than this , other episodes were meh, not bad

I think it was good. Not bad not perfect. Good. But I am German, and for us we didn't have any voice changes.

In its totality, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't as well thought out as the other seasons. There are some great stories in it. Season 7 seems like some Justin leftovers episodes, then a couple that you could tell he had nothing to do with. That is what I expected. The big question is the next season when we know there is no influence from him at all. Voices were fine. Rick needs a little more fire in the portrayal. 6 out of 10.

That click bait title is insane for a guy that praised this season so much. Cmon man now

As a very small KZreadr. What else am I might to do honestly. It is the worst season for me. The entire talking point is that I think this. But there are positives so I spend 60% talking about that. Yet I still lose. All I want is to get people to see this video and to subscribe and talk about what I said in the video. And hopefully watch more that come out.

I agree Season 7 was the worst I feel the show that I love is dead.

The season was actually better than I was expecting. I loved episode 4,5 and 10. Wasn't a huge fan of the Jerick trap, Air force Wong, and I hated rise of the numbericons. Hot take but I really liked how poopy got his poop back

I HATE the number episode, I was shocked. It was just a dump, a hot, dump.

Agreed on rise of the number whatever the fucks being the worst, but overall I feel this season was better than season 6. And in a world where everything is left on a cliffhanger I found it EXTREMELY satisfying how we wrapped up Rick Prime and Evil Morty. RP is dealt with and EM is left open enough that they could revisit him but closed enough that if we never see him again it's fine. That episode honestly elevated the fuck out of the whole season for me

Dog that last episode was something else. I dont even remember watching that 8th episode, i guess i didn't like it and so i didn't watch. All in all very entertaining and moreso satisfying. They've been tying up all these storylines they've started. The spaghetti episode was classic Rick n Morty... Cmon bro who hurt you?

At least this season did not split them up like season 4 and 5

This season is honestly so awful. The jokes are suddenly bad, the characters are weird, the dialogue is bad etc. It's like a completely different show. It seems pretty clear that Justin Roiland clearly was the genius behind all the previous seasons. With him gone, the show is basically over

Definitely a weak season.

I believe if Unmmortricken was the season finale and Fear No Mort being episode 5, the character development would have lined up better. Evil Morty proves that Morty is irreplaceable. If Morty knows that there is a Morty that lived for himself, rather than live as a partner to Rick, could that mean our Morty is ultimately the Mortiest Morty? He has lived by Rick's side all of these years now. Evil Morty could wipe out "the rick experiment" anytime as stated in Unmmortricken and ultimately proving that he is worse than Rick Prime. Why would he have to go through a fear of rick not saving him, but saving someone such as diane? Rick persistently states Rick and Morty forever, Rick and Morty 100 years, etc. Diane is his past and it haunts him and all Ricks. Though Rick cares for her dearly, Morty never has witnessed that nor has the audience. Most or all other Ricks despise Rick Prime for killing all Dianes to never see one again. Why would this be the season where we see Diane the most after being told Diane practically doesn't exist halfway through the season? I know a lot of my reasoning is dull as it is very late and I have only recently completed season 6 and 7 as the show was becoming inconsistent after season 5, and I only came back due to hearing how Justin Roiland was replaced to hear the new voice actors and had ups and downs due to dubbing lines roiland had already done although practice eventually makes perfect and we got episodes where it was difficult to notice and evidentially immersed myself into the show thinking it was roiland doing the voices. TL:DR Episode 5 and 10 should have been flipped due to the themes and conclusions of these episodes.

P.S. you have a good point about this season not being good if not bad. Most defending this season are only defending half the season. 5/10 episodes being good should be a failing grade lol.

​@@dhein918 tbh i think ep 5 and 10 is better at where they are placed, if you think about it, rick has been chasing prime for all his life basically, giving him a sort of purpose, and when he did finally end him, he felt nothing, because all his life he only wanted to kill prime and when he did it didnt feel like anything has changed, and i know this is stupid but that one film theort video made a cool explanation that after episode 5 rick started to "heal" meaning he started bonding or really getting with the family and in episode 10 when rick put up the photo of morty, after deciding on not jumping in the hole to chase diane, i guess it shows that he is finally starting to heal and take pride from morty, Atleast thats what i think lolol i just find it weird that ep 5 is where it is im like 90% sure the writers thought of making it a season finale but it made me think of really why its there.

I thought it was a really solid season, with some of the top episodes from all seasons; the spaguetti and the hole episodes

Agree! This is the worst Rick and Morty season. I like most of the eps from previous Rick and Morty seasons. Typically each season has one ep that is bad but still watchable. Season 7 had 3 eps that were horrible. When I see any of those eps come on CN I automatically change the channel. Those eps are the Poopy Butt Hole ep, the Kuato ep and rock crystal flash back ep. I didn't think the Numbericons ep was bad, but it wasn't a Rick and Morty adventure so I had little interest in it. The Rick Prime ep was good, likely the best ep in the season. But rather disappointed they needed evil Morty to kill Rick Prime.

Great Review. I wish they would have made jokes about Morty's obviously different voice. It sounds like he stopped drinking beer & started gargling chlorine. And I'm glad he just beat prime to death.

Season 7 sucks @ss. I did not laugh at a single episode. Ever since they got rid of one of the co creators it has gotten terrible. Its not longer zanny and crazy like I'm used to seeing, it is very boring. It kind of reminds me of what happened to Family Guy when Disney acquired it and turned it into one woke, boring mess and now it sucks also. Not say Rick and Morty is woke but it has definitely changed and is boring to me now.

I’m really hoping that the new writers will take what’s good from season 7 and refine it in season 8. Seasons 5 and 6 just weren’t good so I hope that the new staff can bring it back

id say its the best season we got in ages, probably since season 3. Barring a couple of meh eps (premier/ice T) it was packed with strong outings.

The hole episode is Genius everything kinda out of Pocket but also planed. It was perfekt

I was incredibly proud of Ian Cardoni. I think Harry Belden is having a harder time with morty, still impressive as the episodes went on. But Ian blew me away getting seemingly better after each episode. My opinion is this season had 5 good eps and 5 bad eps. Which isn’t the greatest odds ever but some of those good eps were some of the BEST! (In my opinion) good eps: 4,5,6,9,10. Bad or not really what I was looking for: 1,2,3,7,8 (2 is definitely the best of these though, lots of good moments in that one. Overall I’m satisfied. Good review!

Amazing comment man. Love it. I think Ian Cardoni is really beginning to add emotion to rick that he just never had. The single line "You were in MY HOUSE" was more emotive than anything justin did in his 6 seasons. Its why when people here say I am being just a hater or dont understand the show. It hurts a little because I think there is so much room for nuance. I dont hate the season. Its just for me the weakest season. So a click bait title like that works super well. Overall the season would still be like a 6 or 7 from me. I still enjoyed it and ABSOLUTELY will watch season 8.

Best season for me so far, apart from that Ice T episode. Couldn't watch half of it before turning off.

I have had 5-6 comments of people saying the exact same thing. That is insane. So many months later seeing this. So interesting. I’ll be doing a ranking video soon of all the seasons. To very much clear up any confusion and have some fun

I enjoyed it but the Rick voice bugged the heck out of me. Like a fly bothering me the entire season while enjoying great food.

The whole season was poor. It lacks the vulgarity and cynicism of previous seasons which is unfortunate because cynicism is the foundation of 80% of the shows previous humor. There was also literally 0 social commentary. The whole season just felt.... "safe", like very much a calculated show that rolled off a factory floor after being neutered by producers. Aside from the fact that Roiland was a hassle to work it, it can't be denied that his improvisation breathed quite a lot of life into the show and Season 7 just felt... dead.

I have a feeling that you actually liked this season and only said it's the worst for click bait

Please watch the video. I fully detail my thoughts. I’m not lying with my opinions here.

The numbericon episode honestly felt like a failed experiment. It's like they wanted to know if an after credit scene could be stretched into an whole episode and it just backfired. They spent so much time wondering if they could that they forgot to ask if they even should. I can accept the new voice actors. To me, the changes in the voices are barely noticeable. Nothing that can't be overlooked by simply suspending my disbelief. It's a work of fiction, I'm already doing that. It was a bit more noticeable in the beginning, but it only took a couple of episodes to forget it isn't Justin Roiland anymore. What I can't accept is the unshakable feeling that the writers threw out the baby with the bathwater, sort to speak. Fine, you want to separate Justin from the show despite the fact his case was dismissed. But don't throw out everything he contributed to the show. They worked with the guy for nearly 10 years. They should understand enough about how his creative mind works by now to at least attempt to fill in some gaps that were left when he left the show. This season is a doomer's wet dream. It's hard to imagine season 8 turning things around. Season 7 really looks like the beginning of the end for this show.

Seasons 1-3 are Perfect. 4,5,6 there are episodes I just skip, but the rest are alright, the overall Citadel of Rick/Evil Morty was great, and that's the Only Great Episode aside from Fear Hole, which should have been the First Episode instead of the Last. Definitely the Worst Season. Actually wish I'd just gotten the DVD instead of Blu-ray.

Havent seen Rick and Morty for a long time. I stopped watching it after season 6 episode 3. I think the show went downhill ever since the Giant Incest Baby. And i think Rick and Morty shouldnt have more than 10 seasons. It should end oficially after season 10, i think 10 seasons is enough before it gets worse. Altough i think im gonna watch the episode wereRick gets his revenge. Great video. 💙

It really was bad and I know people want to be positive about it but the change in voices as well as the acting style made a huge difference. At least we have the first 4 seasons. And even some of season 5 and 6 episodes of pretty decent. I should say though I did like episode Imorticken

I actually thought this was one of the better seasons. Season 6 was by far the worst season. This had the strongest episodes to me since season 3.

I thought this was a great season of Rick and morty. Pretty solid once I got used to the change in Rick's voice

I started with hating the voices. The voices became eh over the season but for such an iconic show changes like this kill it for me. It was overall an ok season but kind of a let down for me.

I am surprised you consider this the worst season when season 3-6 exist and at least one of those seasons had to of been worse. It'd hard to keep track of the seasons, gotta refresh myself but by far the worst episode had to be the one with the incest baby and sperm episode, the mecha episode, and some others in those respective seasons, if it's one season then that's the worst.
