It is an intentionally bad design choice. You can skip the grind for $10. The idea is to frustrate players into paying. It is greedy and player hostile - the kind of crap we usually are in free to play games. It is important to the health of gaming that this game fails hard, to send a clear message to WB that this crap doesn't pay off.

This was exactly the same mentality that they used Middle Earth: Shadow of War did on the final chapter of the game. They made the final chapter so long, grindy and hard to the point where the players would spend money on the really good orcs just to beat the level. Reminder that SOW is a SINGLE PLAYER game.

I was active in this community since day 1 till 2023. in the bottom of my comment I wrote a very short summary. Shadow of War did have loot boxes but you didn't need them at all. Look at the different platforms. PC players could cheat everything. And I mean everything. They could get the gear they want, even mix primary effects of other gears into another one which can not be achieved without cheats. So they could create custom weapons and therefore get more op weapons than even whales could cash. Pc Players could cheat levels and ingame money as well. They could also create custom orcs. 7 immunities, 7 rages, no weaknesses, tons epic traits you get the point. Normally a legendary orc is limited to two epic traits. You can glitch up to 5 (it's the highest I have seen on console and that was just once) but it's random and almost never happens. There is a 3 epic glitch but it's not worth it because it involved caragors So pc players can create custom orcs which are even stronger orcs than whales can even cash. They don't get banned for any this if they do the cheats offline. I spent 20€ on loot boxes once to see if money really gets you something in this game. I got not a single good orc. The orc I transferred from shadow of mordor for instance was much better. 4 7 7 5 berserker beast. The orcs you get from the real money loot chests might be legendary but their treats were random. Legendary orcs, apart from having two epic traits, do not have more and better traits than epic and normal ones by nature. Most of my strongest orcs started as normal ones. You could still destroy the legendary bought ones for weapons though. Speaking of weapons. The weapons you could buy from loot real money chests were legendary. Since legendary is the highest class you think they are best weapons. They also have set bonuses after all. The only real good legendary set is the vendetta one which you get for free by doing special missions which are easy to do and not linked to any dlc content. You have two sets which are linked to a dlc but they are trash and you can get them for free by recruiting orcs of those tribes from online sieges and destroy them for weapons. The only other legendary set that is good is the Marauder one. The true good builds are mixed ones between legendary and epic. Epic weapons can be stronger than legendary ones and can be obtained from normal and epic orcs who are the lowest tiers. The best swords for instance. 1. wrathgiver. It's a epic sword. This is a bugged sword which gives you infinite wrath. 2. humiliator. 3. vendetta sword. So the top 3 swords are freely obtainable with the top 2 being epic. Console players could do a glitch, uploaded on youtube by uruks hollow fairly early on (he heavily focusses on finding those kind of things and also shares what other players find), which allowed you to clone loot chests bought by ingame money to a infinite amount. Those chests, while having a lower probability, could get you everything real money chests could. The probability is not much lower. You could also clone your orcs. So all you needed for a strong fortress in every region was one strong orc. You find normal and epic orcs all the time. A legendary orc is not instantly stronger than a epic or normal one. He just has two epic traits. A normal orc can spawn with more positive and less negative ones and be stronger than a legendary orc, especially with dual wespons carrying berserkers being by far the strongest orcs in the game. Later they brought in epic and legendary orders which you can obtain very easily. You can also recruit orcs of other players without them losing theirs. So you can build a strong army and garrison without money and much effort. I reached the point where I had to much money I couldn't spend on anything besides orders and wished that they would at least bring back the ingame money loot chests which they removed in the last update alongside the real money loot chests. Real money in games I would argue matter mainly in online gameplay. There are two modes. 1. you can do online 1v1 orc. The orcs are so badly programmed in this one that even the most op orc could lose to a bad one. I had this happen. 6 7 7 7 orc who died against a epic one. Sometimes an opponents orc is stunned and your orc will just stand there. If he has bodyguards he will usually barely attack till they are dead while the enemy orc (in case he has no bodyguards) will focus on your orc. 2. you have online sieges. in online sieges you + 6 orcs you choose + a army of grunts ( + some siege effects) attack fortresses of other players featuring 3 orcs on each siege point in the throne. The thing is that Talion is way to op for this game. If you know how to play this game, you can even go into a fortress of the strongest orcs by yourself and still finish in gold time unless they have unbreakable. If they have unbreakable you will finish at silver or bronze. I did this tons of times. I went in there, recruited the orcs of the enemies and finished in gold. As a player you never played against the other player directly. You just attack his fortress. You killing or permanently recruiting his 21 orcs do not impact his gameplay. Those orcs are still alive in his game. He just loses 25 online points in his defense rating which honestly doesn't matter. Even if your defense is very bad, having the max level rating (not points) is easy to keep. So it's not like those strategy games where whales can attack you often and destroy months of your progress. Final chapter was fairly easy. sieges can be easily won by just recruiting the other orcs and putting them in your army and repeating that step. Defense sieges are easy. Your build can shine because there are so many grunts you can use to charge up wrath and might fast. You can also use a bodyguard and beast based on the opponents weaknesses. To summarize. While shadow of war had loot boxes you could buy with real money, they didn't matter. Pc players could cheat more op stuff than any real money could get you and console players can clone everything - something pc players can also do. So even without real money you could easily obtain everything something with real money could.

In my personal opinion, there is no more hope left for this game. The base game was absolutely horrendous down from the story to repetitive mission design. This dlc needed to be good to keep players engaged and they completely dropped the ball. It’s another grinding game with the exact same missions and another reused boss right. This game needs to just die.

The Rocksteady that made this game is not the same people who made the Arkham series, and I mean that literally. The co-founders of Rocksteady Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker (Also the Creative director and Studio head) left the company in 2022 and took a lot of the key, or in other words, ‘good’ staff with them…

This game looks fun but who in the hell thought that grinding for 6 HOURS STRAIGHT IS GOOD GAME DESIGN BECAUSE ITS OBJECTIVELY BAD GAME DESIGN! The joker does look fun though but nothing will excuse that horrible grind and nothing story.

Watching that short cutscene here basically confirms to me that Harley DEFINITELY used to peg Joker

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, it looks like the combination of green lighting a fortnite like style game with an upcoming 2016 movie suicide squad that was released too late for its own good😂

WB really wants that GAAS money after having arrived very late to this party. Honestly wish this game had been more like Borderlands instead of this boring "Kill Purple guys in a rooftop" Simulator

You didn’t mention how you can either grind for alone hours for that concert or you could just buy the joker which I think it’s really scummy because they did that on purpose to entice you to buy the character instead

You know what upsets me regarding Jonkler in this game, besides the scummy monetisation stuff with him where they offer an admission fee to skip the grind to get him? (Fantastic by the way, make people pay up to NOT play the game you made for them to keep playing, smart stuff WB). It’s that this Jonkler is easily one of the laziest versions of him I’ve ever seen and they ignored a wide variety of options they could’ve taken for a new and unique Joker. What if they nabbed a Joker from a universe where the infected Jokers from Arkham Knight were still around? Albert King or Johnny Charisma or Christina Campbell had personalities but have plenty of parts missing that you could add onto them and flesh them out into a unique Joker, or hell, give us Bruce Wayne in the universe where he failed to overcome Joker’s blood and turned, that could at least give a slight bit of real leeway into how he could’ve escaped Braniac’s ship and there’s plenty you could do with a Bat-Joker as long as you don’t immediately dump in a trash fire by just making him The Batman Who Laughs But we didn’t get a unique or cool new Joker worthy of replacing the Arkham classic, we didn’t even get a Joker, we got Jonkler. Joker is an interesting character and a force of purposeful chaos where each random scheme he comes up with has a mad genius and some semblance of sense behind it, such as paralyzing Barb and trying to drive the Commisioner to insanity just to prove that one bad day can turn someone entirely. Jonkler is that guy at the DnD table who murders random NPCs for no reason and keeps interrupting roleplay to tell bad jokes, but if you complain he just goes “it’s what my character would do” without actually clearing WHY they would do it

Frankly, I'm surprised anyone describes anything in that game as "fun/funny" or "enjoyed" with what I hear about the game. Still ain't buying/trying it, but it's quite some news to hear.

Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League? More Like Suicide Squad: Crisis On 13 Earths

I do kinda like this Joker design. Gives me Lego batman vibes mixed with telltale. If only this design and character was in a world fitting like a more silver age lighthearted universe instead of super edgy like ktjl

This games just needs to finally die and be buried very deeply, this game sucks and has nothing redeeming about it but disrespecting the justice league, this pile of poop needs to be forgotten and abandoned never to be mentioned when people talk about arkhamverse

What they should have done is have a huge heist type mission in the beginning to "steal" the Joker from Braniac or capture him in some way, followed by the cutscene where he meets them team...then have him available to play in a variety of new mission types that are inspired by his antics. That I think would have actually been exciting for people to play.

The Jokers design is actually growing on me. I used to fucking hate it, but now it's actually kinda cool. It went from a 2/10 to a 5/10

It is meant to frustrate players into spending $10 to skip the grind. That's what they were thinking.

Nothing worse then seeing a game you like despite its issues actively ruin the one thing you liked about it

I kind of wish that when people review this season they review it as season 1 episode 1 not just season 1 as if this is all there is and I know it doesn't "change anything" but still

i think it deleted my reply cause i put a link but if you go to the ssktjl subreddit you can see what i'm talking about. ill put what it said in the post in this comment "I see a lot of people either intentionally or unintentionally spreading misinformation about how to unlock the Joker. To do so, you need to get your Fear Episode rank to level 35. This is NOT your mastery level. This is NOT your battlepass level. It is only for the episode rank (the same as your finite crisis rank for season 0). You can increase this rank by completing basically any missions. If you look at the map, some missions have a "+1" or a "+2" above them. Complete these missions and that will increase your rank, so you don't have to do the incursions. This should take 60-90 minutes, since most of these missions take maybe 5 minutes to complete." This was from the post titled, "Clearing up Confusion about how to unlock Joker" and was made by Johnny22P. Hopefully you see this clown. i agree with the rest of the video tho.

Assuming anything here was true, just do the math. One mission will give you one level, one and a half max. Considering you need to level up to 35, that is 35 of these missions. At 5 minutes a piece, most of which are WAY longer than that, that is still a minimum of 3 hours. And considering you also have to wait through the long mission complete and loot obtaining screens, they're gonna be even longer than that. Furthermore, the +1 and +2 missions on the map completely disappear after you complete them, meaning you're left with more basic missions that only give half a level worth of XP. Believe me, I tried optimizing this over the 6 hours it spent grinding, and nothing worked except more grinding.

I didn't think joker wasn't that bad the grind was really annoying but when i got joker i had so much fun playing as joker so much so i love i played the Entire game again because I love playing a joker so much And i'm excited to see what other dlc characters they do And I I love the battle past to So to be honest I really love the joker and I still really like this game

I hate to be THAT GUY, since i like your content a lot But more than one will be mentally going "we told you so" when you placed your hopes for this game at the end or your video about Suicide Squad like a month ago Whoever is taking the shots at Rocksteady now, its obviously out of their depth and they arent delivering when it comes to content and quality

6:44 I saw that Phineas and Ferb reference. And all I have to say on this matter because I still haven't played this game is, it's funny how they made a worse Joker design than the one show off in the MK11 kombat pack trailer, and even then, they fixed his design when they showed off his awesome looking gameplay trailer.

I like the game a lot honestly I picked it up because i wanted something new to play. With this being a lot of the same with it being online service. This game resonates with me though because I remember going to see the live action film while in middle with my mom.
