Doug, it turned out real nice. I'm glad you kept going. Colors & textures an especially good combo. Though I think Kim won the bet by setting you up with those shells. The bowl didn't break and neither did you. But we could see in your eyes at the end it was tough going. You rule!

Doug, this bowl is absolutely amazing. It is so evocative of the beach on a nice, warm, summer day. I swear I can hear the seagulls, and the lapping of the waves against the sand. I can smell the saltwater. It is just gorgeous. your work is breathtaking. The imperfections that you pointed out just add to the uniqueness of the bowl. Thank you.

I like that the turn-effect of the seashells actually enhanced the whole oceanic feel in a lot of places. There are spots where it almost looks like calamari.

Well seashells are mostly made up of calcium which is rough stuff

Sea shells are made of aragonite and calcite, the latter being the main mineral found in limestone! So if those shells seemed to be as hard as a rock, that's because they are! Either way, that's a beautiful bowl!

That looked like a real PITA to turn, but the result is gorgeous!

I don't think it's cheating to use a grinder, if it's going to keep you from getting killed by your project. That is one beautiful piece.

Thank You , as far as I know the bowl still looks like this with no cracks, to be honest he isn't gonna like those shells, I had to grind most of them down on the inside to finish this, the tools just wouldn't take it.

They are beautiful, i would like to know does it hurt a little bit to sell these pieces? :-))

The bowl is incredibly beautiful. The green really makes the would just pop. So it was a hard job oh, you stuck to it and you were successful. Even your logo burned in so deep looks great and goes along with all the interest on the bottom. I'm impressed and proud of you. The beard looks much better. Thanks for a great video
