I really like games where you have two sets of cards and then shuffle them together to form your deck. It makes replays feel fresh. My group and I are also just now getting into worker placement games, so this seems like a winner! Putting it on my wishlist now.

Funny how the delayed negative experience of eventually drawing a clogged up hand is not as bad as opposed to losing an action immediately, so the "take that" doesn't feel as punishing since the rest of the game is immediately rewarding.

Very solid, enjoyable game. I’ve played it twice so far, once with family who do not board game and once with a weekly board game group. The game is fun, competitive, and quick after the slow start up from explaining and digesting the rules (I’m also not the best teacher so I have to try harder to explain things clearly). The “deck-building” is lighter than other games but it feels like games in that category or a game like Dune: Imperium where its split into two phases with a worker placement and a combat phase, with differences between the two, obviously. Overall, I really enjoy this game compared to many other games I’ve backed and been burnt by on Kickstarter and I’ll be keeping it in my collection, and likely upgrading some elements for the game over time too!

All things to get caught up on, it's the screen printing lol. I agree it needs to be double sided

This game seems heavily based on the MMO 'Puzzle Pirates'. Looking forward to playing it.

I wonder if the board was just a bit bigger if that would help one player getting unlucky and such in the middle

Great looking game! (until you see the price, which should always be discussed in an in-depth review because value matters)

I think the part that makes the Combat more like King of Tokyo, compared to an actual "Take That", is that there is not a neutral role doing something not combat related. So not a merchant player getting bombarded by a combat player.

The theme is a slam dunk. As someone who owns and plays Dead Reckoning, I don't see any mechanics or actions in this game that stand out to me more than Dead Reckoning. I will say the sail dial and cannonball trackers are awesome and look much more thematic compared to moving cubes in DR.

Take That games are more when people can just go out of their way to target you just because. I don't see this as take that. I see it as competitive combat. I also agree that for the ships I don't need it to be print on the back because then it's clearly obvious which direction you're going, but yes it would be prettier printed both sides, and a 3D model would be perfect

I loved the map discussion. 🤣 I always have the same argument with almost everybody I know. I cannot read a map if somebody turns it upside down. North has to be at the top. Thanks Camilla.

Haha, but the real question is: would you be the only other person in the world against the cards being printed on both sides?

I'll be using Tsuro of The Seas pirate ships for the miniatures in this game so we don't battle where the front/back of a ship is😅

Interesting. I have only played it at 2P so far and bounced off it pretty hard; was not fast and fun. This review makes me think player count makes a huge difference here

They hit the nail on the head; three players is the sweet spot, and that was after teaching it twice. And I am not the best teacher, but once everyone got it, it was fun despite the slow start up

So many high ratings recently. Are publishers releasing all their best games right before summer? Or are there generally more and more really good games coming out every year?

Looks interesting but the artwork feels kind of half finished. Some of the cards have awesome comic style artwork, then the board and other cards are really boring.

@@Kundra18oh, Camilla IS thoughtful, relevant and fits perfectly with the rest of the Dice Tower crew. Camilla also tends to get very agitated in discussions. One thing doesn't negate the other. I think what the OP is saying is valid and would make the experience of watching these people discussing games more enjoyable.
