@@poweredbyrock I just saw Get Dead and Codefendants and they absolutely killed it at NoFx's final tour. Sam and Mikey's chemistry on stage was fuckin hilarious. I really want to see them in a small indoor joint though. The outdoor arena aint the best environment for punk rock but ill take what i can get. Lol

Hope you make it because NoFx played quite honestly the tightest ive ever seen them play (Ive caught them live like 8-10 times in the last 20 years.) They're just out there having a total fucking blast and it shows.

I saw Codefendants live, and between songs Sam hops over on to his turn tables and busts out the coolest remix of In my eyes by Minor Threat, it was unreal. I also got to sing next to Ceschi in the pit. Easily the best show i've ever been to

The Codefendents sound SOOOOO much better live. Their record sounds like soft, thin, neutered garbage by comparison. The songs are still good, but man is the production completely wrong for what this band ACTUALLY sounds like. It's depressing.

I admire Sam for how well he articulates his first hand experience being a child of a parent who was distressed, abused, and manipulated by a shitty, broken, profiteering prison system. I'm sorry for any person that has to endure that shit. AND Wow! Talk about turning shit into gold, I love the music, lyrics and pure antiestablishment attitudes conveyed by Get dead and Codefendants bands. I get energised. I feel empowered. Get dead has always been great. Always had a little Swingin utters vibe in there with the ska, hardcore, folk, a little hip hop, and everything else. I always loved that you really couldn't label them one thing. And now Codefendants are keeping up that whole genre blending aspect. Love it.

I have known Get Dead for years and seen them live, my intro was actually a bit of bait for conversation later, because if you look around at all the press sites out there, that's how they are described. But in reality, Rancid on top of Social Distortion is actually how their albums sound. Their live show on the other hand is definitely more East Bay punk than anything. Out of curiosity, how would you describe Get Dead's sound to someone who has never heard them before?

@@Ty-138 Social Distortion is widely considered a "folk-like" punk band. They were even labeled "cow punk" for many years. Mike Ness is kinda the godfather of bringing that sound to punk music. "Ball & Chain" is a good example of that, I suppose. It may not be "acoustic" but as Sam says, neither are they. That's just how they recorded their album due to the budget of the band at the time. Hopefully that makes sense.
