I would love a deeper dive into world coins with longer videos. I think I’ve watched every coin hunt video (that wasn’t a live stream) since mid-2019 when I first jumped on board. As much as I enjoy the hunts through Lincoln cents and Jefferson nickels, one does get a little burnt out on occasion. World coin hunts offer a fun change of pace from time to time, as there are so many beautiful designs out there. Would also like to see your Great Britain collection someday as well. I’m doing a British penny collection myself, as I love the design (and size) of the old pre-decimal penny. Also love the crowns from the Victorian era. There are a fun alternative to collecting Morgan dollars. 🙂

Several coins in this lot are still legal tender in the country they were struck for. The Switzerland coins are an example. A Swiss Franc is worth about $1.18 today, so that 5 franc coin is worth about $6. A Euro is worth about $1.10. Even some of the coins from countries which converted to the Euro are still exchangeable for Euros. I've accumulated a lot of world coins, not for collector value, but for protection in case the dollar drops in value, or I take a trip out of the country.

Excellent purchase! This shows the difference between buying a bag like this from a LCS or other local dealer instead of from some online source. You'll never get a deal like this online. Before I viewed the video, I thought "If he's lucky, he might get 1-2 small silver coins". Just the 1806 token almost made the purchase worthwhile by itself. The 1603 shilling is worth over $4 just in silver value. And the Pony Express token has some silver in it (not sure how much) and is worth at least a few dollars. You probably got more than your money's worth just from these 3 coins. There were some current legal tender coins (Canada, Switzerland, Japan) and if you know where to go you can get for these around half of the conversion value here in the US w/o having to travel to all these countries and that would be at least several more dollars. And you could resell all of the coins you dont want back to some dealer for at least $3/pound. I would ask your dealer for another of these bags!

Yes, that was interesting. I bought a small lot of foreign coins before Christmas. They are all silver (widely varied in composition) dating from the mid 1800's to the ww2 era. I was going to give them as a Christmas present, but after looking at a few of them, I decided that I needed them. 😊 Now when I have some time I'll sit down and research a few. The artwork is beautiful on some of them, and it's fun to find out what the asw is.

It's not gonna do you any good finding foreign silver, Rob. You can find some Greek .835, some Dutch .90, some Canadian .90, some Mexican .720 and some Panama .925. A few British coins. Most countries as you know deleted silver from coinage around the time the US did in 1965. But even before then, most foreign silver was 50% or below and can't be economically extracted.

Am I mistaken or are the video showing 1970 Soviet coins from the mint set? They have a pretty good price (obviously more than the rest of this pile - namely 5, 15, 20, 50 kopecks and a ruble). I think that you can find a collector of Soviet coins in America and sell them profitably.
