THE DINOSAUR. I scrolled for an hour but i found it. Its a real dumb post and he’s tagged as hipzee stories (which seems to be some kind of production company involved in heathers) I can’t find this particular dinosaur ever again so I really think it was brought in just to make the “no dinosaurs were harmed in the making of heathers” bc of the whole dinosaur line in the musical. All that for a bad pun??

Talking about liking villains I think it’s to do with the part of the brain that is purely based on fantasy, and another part of our brain is the one that stops us from acting out those desires and fantasies so the villains we see acting out those desires that everyone has a cathartic feeling to it. I don’t know much about the brain but we discussed this in my film studies class about a film which is purely based on the desire part of our brain called wild tales which is an Argentina based film. It’s a very interesting topic

I have thoughts on the romantisizing villains thing and I don't care that this is an old video so no one will see said thoughts!! I think other comments are so right about how it's "exciting" to fall in love with a villian, some of the "I can fix him" mentality definitely adds to things, etc. BUT the main reason I always fell for villains growing up and made them my little mental love interest to all of my self-inserts or whatever was because I just wanted them to get the love that I think people in general deserve. I think that I'm an alright person, but I HEAVILY relate to villains internally. I know I could have ended up a lot worse than I am, so I see an alternate version of myself in villains. I see myself as a queer person in how some villains are heavily queercoded and then alienated for these traits. I see my self in these villains as an autistic person for alienation in difference of world view. I see myself in villains because I'm blunt and "mean" and sarcastic and very goal-oriented like a lot of villains. I have many traits of NPD and have delusions of grandiose, I know it is my responsibility to cope with and manage my symptoms but when a villain goes "unhinged" and thinks they can't die/lose or that they are the only correct person I can relate. I have trauma and interests and traits and such that I usually only see in villains, I relate to villains. With villains, to make them interesting and an actual threat, these aspects are often pushed to an extreme. But I can see how real people (including myself) could be pushed to that extreme too. I guess it is a tiny bit of "I can fix them," but to me it's more of falling in love with the dark parts of myself. Saying "I love you and you deserved better, please show me that you aren't beyond help, please show me that I am not going to get beyond help." I don't romanticize the fact that I *individually and personally* could fix them like I know some people do, but I really latch onto the idea that having *someone* to listen and good therapy and a willingness to change can change anything (not the past, but moreso people can change for the better no matter where they are) and putting myself into that story really helps me see that this all applies to myself too. I tend to like more complex villains who were very clearly changed by trauma and upbringing because they usually have deeper personality and more canon hints to what could have been. I do understand how people are attracted to the freeing and dangerous, does whatever they want with no regard for consequences kind of villian because they are more "fun" in a fantasy, escapism setting. But I think the big draw to more "damaged" villains is the idea that no matter how broken you are and how bad things get you can always make steps to get better and you can still be loved. I think that really feels nice for mentally ill people to see, people who are afraid that they aren't loveable because of "scary" symptoms of their disorders and are afraid that we are still to "bad" of people even when we are trying to get better. The idea that (through headcanon and fanfiction) people who have done far worse than us are deserving of love and a space to get better and help and understanding actually really helps in believing that we can let ourselves honestly see that we deserve the same.

Ok I’m here to explain the I-like-villains thingy. First, the „maybe I can fix him“ trope is very toxic and very wrong. You ain’t his therapist honey. For me, often times the villains have more depth and personality than the heros. So theyre simply more interesting to watch. The other thing is, you can like FICTIONAL characters that are murderes and psychos, you can’t do that in real life (don’t do that in real life). Often times a good villain is very charismatic and witty, or just a fascinating character. Then it’s really fun when you can see why they became the villain, knowing their backstory and who they were „before“ is always interesting too. Also humans are dark creatures, sometimes you gotta singalong to songs about blowing up schools, it do be like that sometimes
