Searching For Rare Dugong In Mozambique!

Join me in Vilanculos, Mozambique where I search for one of the rarest marine mammals in the Bazaruto Archipelago; the Dugong or sea cow. Closely related to the manatee, dugongs used to be commonly found along the coast of Mozambique but its numbers have now been dwindled down to 250-300 left in the area. Dugongs were believed to be the inspiration for mermaids 🧜♀️ when they were first discovered! I travel to Paradise Island (also known as Santa Carolina Island) to try and spot one of the rare dugongs. I also visit Benguerra and Bazaruto Islands. Not only is Vilanculos home to dugongs, but also a variety of other marine life including dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of colorful fish who live in the gorgeous coral reef. Watch as we leave our safari vacation and go to the beach in search of these rare animals. Highlights include snorkeling, hiking a giant sand dune, and rare underwater footage of a dugong in Mozambique. Also get a behind-the-scenes look at where we stayed in Vilanculos, the Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel's Presidential Suite! Although I don't blame you for wanting to go to Mozambique and I realize they are a different version, but we have beautiful manatees right in the US in Florida and the people desperately need educated about not feeding or giving bottled water. Too many are being hit and injured or killed by approaching boats that don't slow down!😪😇❤️ looks like you enjoyed vacation!

It was only 1h 10m from Kruger International Airport in South Africa. So not long. Customs took a little longer than expected but other than that, it was quick journey over.
