Suga did everything his haters said he could. He took massive shots, he was in a long fight with a top performer, he didn't get injured even after taking leg shots, he had yan in trouble a couple of times and certainly had power against a top contender, his wrestling wasn't terrible and he managed to get up against a great grappler. This guy is legit and is staying around no matter what anybody says. He is the number 1 contender at 28 years old and will continue to get better and have more wins and great fights. I thought Yan was gonna steamroll Suga. He did not. I really, really wonder what would've happened in rounds 4 and or 5 with that cut he opened on Yan. Wrestling is such a dominant overwhelming skill, however boring, I think Yan would've just kept getting the trips and takedowns and would've took the decision. Good job Suga, even though you actually lost, you proved your place.

I was thinking Yan had edged out the victory, but I wasn’t shocked or mad when Sean won. It was a very close fight, both were hurt in two different rounds. I think what gave Sean the edge was the damage he caused to Yan in the third round with the knee, ultimately in the new judging criteria damage trumps all. So unless you can say for sure no questions Yan did more damage than Sean did, you can’t call this a robbery. Props to both guys.
