I love that you're using the puzzle edges as the "head cast" part. I'd never thought of that. I'll be attempting that in the future.

Tyler Bacon I've found that using those pieces work great for making helmet framework. They give you a nice foundation to build on, it allows for better air flow inside the helmet, it's a better fit because it's formed directly to your head, and the best part is you can finally use up some of those scrap edge pieces.

I absolutely love how you did the lips, did you make and glue a separate foam piece for the bottom lip?
@bmbcosplay5511

Yeah it's a separate piece of foam made out of 3/8 foam. I cut it to the basic shape I wanted, and then sanded it with my dremel to get the right look.

Impressive. What kind of material are you using for the visors on both Grimlock and Jazz? I need them for my cosplay as well.

Its 1/8 inch plexiglas. I made a tutorial on making of the visors if you want to check it out.

I’m guessing you used foam clay for the mouth detail?

Is it better to paint the pieces to add/glue on the base of the helmet first rather than masking the parts later to paint different colours? Will painted foams stick when applied with barge later?

Khairul Ahmad I always glue everything on first, and then I paint it. If you paint it and then glue it, you run the risk of the paint peeling off when you stick the pieces together.

When priming, are you waiting 24 hours between coats?
@bmbcosplay5511
4 жыл бұрын
I usually wait 30 minutes between coats of plastidip. I wait 24 hours to prime after plastidip is applied. Then I wait 24 hours after priming to apply the enamel. But, the weather conditions can also change drying times. So it can vary depending on location and time of year.
