Sealed covers it all, when it comes to bass 👌🏾. This is the 5th or 6th box I've built for this customer. Very loyal and cool guy. He is open minded, about sealed and ported boxes. You can achieve great bass, either way 😉. Once he gets everything installed, I'll try and post another video. Should have a test vid of it playing in my truck, later today. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks bro!. I'm always learning more with each build. Came up with the idea to flush mount these subs, because of the way I did the speaker terminals, on my 2-18" build. Worked perfectly on these 🤓. Thanks for the comment 👍🏽

my box looks just like this except I put double baffles in and cut holes through them, and only used to subs to maximize air space. skar suggest .65 I believe, think mines around .80 maybe a little more.. it's 54 long, 14 high, 6.25 at bottom and the top has the 06 Silverado crew cab notch at the top.. and the subs are mounted about as low as possible. and I got very lucky, because the just barely fit.. about 1/4in from touching the back.. it's very rigid and heavy. I'm very happy how it turned out.. I did mark it out for a third sub I may add later.. I need to pull out the carpet and maybe cut sum of the back molding to get my box to move back just a little bit more so I'm comfortable with bumping it with the seats up.. them skar vd subs do stick out a lot more than others. I would like at least 1/2 in between the foam on sub and the seat.. it's a tight fit back there for sure.. I did see sum where sombody makes a new rear seat bracket that moves the seat forward 3 inches, that's to much tho, I'd be happy with half that. it was on a KZread video I seen

if this box is .78 mine might be closer to 1qft per sub or better.. they sounded like shit in a ebay .60 per sub box. I knew it wasn't the subs, it was definitely the box... skar rules and very affordable, I'm wouldn't even be mad if I blew one or both after a few months because I've already got my money's worth. lol

tankdog03 - Yea, not sure if I’ve built one for that year truck, behind the seat. The VDs have a good surround lip for sure. You’d never guess they were shallow mounts. I had to remove the camel hair padding that’s beneath the carpet on mine. If Frankenstein’d my personal box out of 1/2” and 3/4” materials 😆 No since I’m buying, when I have plenty of random pieces around the shop. They don’t stick out as far as the VD, so 1/2” was enough to flush mine.

Lol, I hear ya Mr. Jones, but after I build these boxes, there gone. I try and get the customers to meet back up for a demo. Either our work schedules won't allow or they give demos and sale it on the spot 💰. lol. I'll try and test it in my truck. Won't do it any just, I'm only pushing 300rms and they need at least 1K total.

+JJonescaraudio1- I hear you man, I'll try to post more vids of my future builds in action. However, I do test everyone of my builds, either on my truck or my testing station at home. Neither has the wattage to push them correctly, so I just make sure everything is functioning properly. I don't post vids of those, because I they are lacking the woofer flex, everyone looks for on hear. I don't post demos of the boxes in the customer's vehicle for three reasons. Most of them don't live in my town, they don't have the system completed or subwoofers haven't made it in yet. I am in the process of moving to a different home and will finally have my own personal work shed 👍🏽. I'll have it setup with all my woodworking and audio equipment. Now as for the bass head thing, not sure if I am bro. Don't get me wrong, I do love the BASS🔊. If I hear it, trust me, I'm running to the window or outside to try and catch a glimpse of them beating 🏃🏽😂. Especially to see if it's one of mine 😉.

+JJonescaraudio1- And for my 18" in the Bonneville, I wasn't pleased with bass response. So I took it out and posted the box with a 4" PVC pipe. It's down, just been busy with other builds. I always put my stuff on hold for customers 👌🏾. Hope to get it re-installed next weekend and I will post vids of that for sure. When I watch vids like yours and Ryan Memdoza, my doesn't compare 👏🏽👏🏽. So I go back to the lab and try to get mine flexing like y'all's 🙏🏽. Much respect bro ✌🏽️

Steve Funderburg - If your doing a sealed box, always have put them in separate chambers 🙏🏽 If the subs are in a sealed shared chamber box, they are accentually fighting over the same air. This may cause the subs to move at different times, causing the timing of the bass notes to be off or output levels. Check with Crutchfield's or Kicker's website. They state this on tech support or box building tips. Thanks for the comment and good luck man 👍🏽

So for sealed boxes with more than one sub, you want a divider between them to separate them? I was given 2 12" MTX's in a sealed box for a single cab pickup but I dont think theres a divider in the center. How does that effect the sound?

You are correct. Subs in sealed boxes should have separate chambers. If they are in a shared chamber, this has a tendency to cause your subs to move at different excursions. A kind of push/pull motions can occur. Like to kids fighting over a the same toy, lol. Giving the subs their own air space, will insure the subs proper range of motion, better responding bass and possibly more output. Also, if a sub blows or gets damaged. You can still play the other one, using the same box, while you order a replacement sub 👍🏽

Man I need one like this but for 3 13 shallow subs with .75cuft per sub, and total width 42". I need to work on a design. Would you be willing to sell such a box but as knock down / kit? Makes shipping easy. Even if you just ship the braces, front baffle, and sides.

FLA Fishing - Doesn't in my opinion, as internal cf and sufficient subwoofer magnet/vent clearance off the back wall, your good. I've never tested to see the difference myself, so don't hold me to it. But I've built both boxes through the years and couldn't hear a difference. 👍🏽

If I can get your opinion on sub choice for SQ, I currently own an older model Alpine Type R, the SWR1242D, but I'm thinking of selling to fund the following: Arc 12D4 IDQ12 Infinity Kappa 1200 JBL S3-1224 Dayton Audio RSS315HO I really like the specs on the Dayton and JBL, and although the Alpine is outdated it's still a great sub with a decent balance between SQ and SPL.

FLA Fishing - I personally haven't heard any of those brands my friend. As for "sound quality" I've never personally understood that. I've seen some sub manufacturers state SPL SUBWOOFER, but that's it. I'm currently running 2-15" HCCAs in my SUV and do not play any decaf or bass tones through it. Sounds amazing and have gotten several compliments on the bass "sound quality". To each his own bro, if you build the right box for any sub, your gonna get great bass. Just my opinion and I'm no pro 🤷🏽‍♂️ I would pick a sub that U really want and build a box for it. If you don't get what you really want, your never gonna be satisfied with it.

Thanks for the responses. I hear ya SQ at the end of the day is for the most part subjective in the real world. Theoretically a SQ oriented sub will have a flat frequency response throughout its Frequency Response range. An SPL sub will peak at a certain frequency range, typically very narrow, and then completely drop off lower than that. Boxes do play a huge role but more so the fundamental type, sealed, ported, bandpass, transmission line, isobaric, etc Likewise I've gotten fantastic results from all different types of boxes but I've always read that parallel rear walls hinder sound quality, though in theory for sub bass frequencies the effect of rear wall harmonics is irrelevant, I'm just trying to get some insight. If your local I can, I love in Oklahoma. I usually don't build boxes, that require a pre-fit. What I mean by that, is boxes that will be in a tight or confined area, I do a cardboard pre-fit. By building a cardboard version first, I can modify it using a box knife and make the necessary adjustments. If you trust your measurements, I can help you design one including a cut sheet. WAYLAND GRANT - most behind the seat, truck boxes, are wedged design. So you will need to measure Height Width Bottom depth Top depth

Bj Hammon nahhhh i made that sum bitch myself lol and wrapped it myself along with the battery bank rack is also mdf 1/2" all around....my boy from arizona helped me design it using the space i had in my trunk...se used every bit of space...ill make a video tomorrow showing the box and rack and how close my tailgate door is from the bussbars...
