I remember when I took a trip to Seattle in 2018 which was a fun trip by the way, one of my Uber drivers was a Seahawks fan and we chatted up about football and sports while he was taking me to my destination. He told me that this Super Bowl pisses him off way more then Super Bowl 49 in 2015. Because he feels that they were really screwed over by the referees anytime they had momentum.

Watching these Steelers play versus the now a days Steelers play is heart wrenching.....I miss the old days.

One of the worst officiated game ever. Refs blatantly favored the steelers imo. Remarkable its not scrutinized more.
@SuperTugz
10 ай бұрын
Some awful calls in that game but also remember Seattle allowed a simple handoff to go 70+ yds for a TD, bit on the most obvious trick play ever (everyone knew Randle El was a QB in college and Pittsburgh ran that same play 5 or 6 times that season), Jeramy Stevens dropped 3 or 4 passes, and they ran the clock out on themselves to set up a missed field goal before halftime. Despite the officiating, Seattle should have still won the game by 2 touchdowns at least simply by playing fundamentally-sound football, which they did not do. Hey the Steelers probably did pay off the refs, at least that showed more desire to win than the Seahawks showed. And as far as the Steelers "barely making the playoffs as a 6 seed" the AFC was absolutely stacked. They were 11-5 and tied with Cincinnati, the Bengals won the division on a tie-breaker. A few years later I think 2008 or 2009 the 11-5 Patriots actually missed the playoffs.

Quite frankly, they should have given the ball to Shaun instead. Shaun was the league MVP that season, and the reason why the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl in the first place, but for some reason, they only gave him 20 carries in the Super Bowl, out of 74 plays they ran from scrimmage. Givig Shaun the ball more would have given them a much better chance of winning regardless of what anybody thinks of the referees.

@@thespanishinquisition2200 exactly! I've heard quite a few people complain that "Seattle only lost this game because of the bad refs". And I guess I can concede that maybe a couple calls might have been questionable at best. Nothing close to egregious. But that kind of officiating doesn't cause a team to lose by 11 points lol. @wrylyo

The ball crossed the plane while he was still in mid-air.
What happened on Seattle's last drive is something that would NEVER happen in todays game. Teams have developed their 60 second drills to perfection. Heck, KC scored a FG after Bills TD when there was 13 seconds left. So they went from own 25 to FG in 13 seconds. Seattle had +40 seconds and they were clueless what to do! Just look at the 3rd pass that gaines maybe a yard and the receiver was tackled in bound... omg! :D
This game had so many bad calls but the Ben TD wasn't one of them. The ball looks like it breaks the goal line by maybe a few inches. Its so freaking close. But It's one of those plays where you have to stick with how it was ruled on the field. Replay isn't conclusive enough to reverse the call either way.
@brando4422
2 жыл бұрын
Problem is the first official rule was down, then the ref remembered what he was supposed to call or do then changed his decision. By the point he decided to raise his right arm with his left the quarterback could have shimmied just enough or gotten his arm with the ball pushed just enough back. I didn't care for that super bowl but watched none of us were fans of either but everyone decided to go into the pool since we all felt this game was decided before hand. This was the first time and without trying I felt rigging. Before this I was just a sports fan and young so conspiracy was the last thing on my mind at this point in my life.

Ok, if Seahawks fans want to point out bad calls then ok fine, but I don't like that they say that they were "robbed" and that the Lombardi was "stolen" and that this game "belongs" to them. There were bad calls that aided the Steelers sure, but they whine about calls that were good calls being bad, like the offensive PI was a legitimate call, it was correct, yet they try and claim otherwise. Also, they cannot say that the game was "stolen" from them because they did not prove that they deserved to win the game due to their own sloppy play. I'm not a Steelers fan, I'm a Saints fan

Super Bowl 40 AKA a Steelers home game
My dad was unhappy seeing the Seahawks lose this game.
I wish people would understand that noise in football games means more than anything in football. I pray people understand that the Seahawks should've been 3 and 0 in the Superbowl😂😂😂
At 37 , born and raised in Pittsburgh, and a life long Steelers fan, this is my favorite season ever. Underdogs the whole way through. Screw the Patriots, we were the first to 6 and without cheating! We got the one for the thumb in 05.

Pittsburgh is overrated to shit, you guys barely won this super bowl, hell thanks to the refs and Aaron Rodgers exposed that terrible defense in super bowl 45, don't hate because New England kicked your team's ass more than once

Its been a while since I watched that game, however as I recall the Seahawks made several dastardly blunders not related to officiating. Like missing 3 field goals IN A DOME! Jerramy Stevens I think dropped liked 3 big passes and Mike Holmgren forgot how to manage the damn clock. Oh and the Seattle defense couldnt find Big Ben in a cramped space. Most of those calls werent that egregious either. But Seattle done choked.

@@ryanjacobson2508 after the fact after much outrage im sure. Most of those calls were legit. Also the Steelers were on the receiving ends of controversial calls in their playoff game against Indy.

The worst was when they ran the clock out themselves before halftime to set up a missed field goal from long distance before halftime. Their clock management was so bad at the end of both halves Madden and Michaels, the announcers, were ripping Mike Holmgren a new orifice because of the team's poor game management during the live broadcast. The Seahawks got blasted by a few awful calls and they're not wrong to complain about the refs, but anyone with an understanding of the X's and O's of the sport knows that they could have won this game by 2 TD's just playing fundamentally-sound football, which they did not do at all

My fav player after watchin this probably has to be Jerome “The Bus” Bettis bc he’s a nice RB and he’s always dreamed of winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy which is what he achieved
The first Steelers td was way short
That pass by Ben in the red zone that was a pick was so awful all he had to do was sail it over his head easy td lol
