Love the Gull shaped wing. Reminds me of a 1929 Stinson Royal Navy plane. I would rather fix a set of landing gear instead of the whole plane fuselage any day. I got the Bush plane fever for a while and got into the Articulating landing gear sets that come with them. Lesson learned. If you BEEF up your landing gear, the next hard landing means now you have to fix the broken plane !!! Simple tempered leaf spring gear saved that plane. So what you have to unbend the gear once in a while. It's better then replacing fractured Balsa parts any day. I'm restoring a 1990's Sig Senior Kadet and THIS time the gear is going to stay simple so I am not performing open heart surgery on the Fuselage. Great video, Great plane.

We tend to frown on flying behind the flightline and encourage pilots to keep to a circuit out front of the flightline and definitely not to fly around themselves. Better for the pilots especially if there are more than one in the air at a time as is often the case at our field. This provides a safer and more predictable environment both for the spectators and other members working away in the pits. Enough said, Great airplane though.

I looked at the windsock at the takeoff: it seemed to me that he landed downwind, hence you lose control effectiveness while still travelling over the ground at a fair pace. I'm a glider pilot and learnt this from experience.

Where did you set the CG? I'm about to finish mine and others have said the CG in the manual is not correct!

The Lysander flies nicely. Is the engine new? Seems like it was skipping a bit. I just bought a Seagull Steen Skybolt. I plan to fit a 20cc gas engine into it. Video says that it flies nicely. Hopefully, Seagull will focus on ARFs with lighter wing loading (20-24 oz / square foot) and avoid really heavily loaded scale stuff that flies poorly.

Skipping a bit? A lot! Those DLE engines run beautifully if tuned properly. Once up to temperature they should not skip like that - if the owner has set the motor up properly, that is!

It is a friends and the landing gear is pretty strong. Just a bad landing due to dead still.

Pilot has no discipline....despite having constant reminders by club members he continues to fly over the pit area ...he can only to left hand circuits...engine is not tuned..even though downwind that Deadstick should have been a greased...he panicked and planted it on the strip...

I fly models all my life and I still see the same thing. So many pilots build wonderful models to break them down by lack of landing skills ... Why he likes to spend hundreds of hours in the workshop making a million details of the cabin and cover, with complicated installation and wiring, and then so carelessly blow down the models, landing without the correct procedures and training? Some stupid pride?

I have a friend who's the same way, except that he cuts corners on the build too. He likes to say "It's good enough"....drives me crazzzzzy. It's too bad, really...Lots of people who'd like to be able to fly better, but don't manage to fly all that often - wonder why they can't fly well. I love flying, and fly at least 10 times as much as my aforementioned buddy...he still doesn't get why I fly so much better and handle emergencies so much better, and have LESS emergencies that he - like I mentioned, it drives me nuts! This was and is still a beauty. Too bad the flight was not so great. Maybe there was another malfunction, and it wasn't strictly pilot error, but judging from the rest of the flight, it was :(

Flying over the pitts and parking would result in a suspension of flying privileges at pretty much any club. Crappy pilot to continue to do that.
