in the song, its constantly talking about Atlantis, (duh) which is a fictional place, meaning imagination in this case. The song is referring to it as "my atlantis" which is like "my imagination" or "innocence". And they are also saying "i can't save us, my atlantis we fall" which is like saying goodbye to his childhood and innocence. Also saying "tell me why this has to end" which is like "why does blank have to corrupt me" or something in that sence in the video its like a war or something that's doing this, so ultimately this song is about losing your childhood or innocence, which in this case is referring to that fluffy white thing that's giving us all these feels

To me it makes me remember the good memories I made with a friend group and the way it ended (Eventhough I tried to keep the group together it just wouldn't work because it's like trying to stick opposite magnets together... This was the first song she had sent me on our first night of talking. I've never heard of Seafret before but I still remember how that song made me feel and made myself to listen it over and over again. We had only lasted two months but felt like an eternity. I tried too hard to put a name in our relationship, which probably is the reason why it lasted only two months, but she wasn't ready for it. It started fast, way too fast. As more time passed, more I connect our relationship with the lyrics. "We've built this town on shaky ground", "We've built it up to pull it down". Even though it was fast and also short, the effect it left on me probably going to last for a long time. I am not happy, but I never regret the feeling and emotions that she made me feel. I don't know where you are or who you are with, Natali, but I will never forget about you. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive for two months. Oh, and Seafret, also thank you for fucking me up with your stupid song. Respects.

To the person who read this, It’s been hard for you, I know, and it makes me sad that you don’t see yourself in the way I see you. Sometimes they are things in life that cause us to loose ourselves, and the way you have is so unimaginable painful. I miss your smile, the way your eyes light up the whole room just by the sound of your laughter. I miss the way you accepted the way you look in the mirror without cursing yourself out about how ugly you look. I miss the way you didn’t think of yourself as a failure because everyone makes mistakes, we all have flaws and we all aren’t perfect. It’s painful to see that no one around you seems to see the pain trough your eyes, but, stranger, I do, I see how heavy your heart is and how comforting the sadness for you might be, how afraid your heart is of happiness because it disappears in the end, right? You don’t know how much impact you have in this world and it’s sad to see that your demons fight against you and want to take over you. Because you do make change, it’s something so simple and little that brightens up someone’s whole world, it can be a small smile from your lips, the way you look at things you’re passionate about, the way you make yourself eat even though it’s been hard for you lately, the way you zoom out and go in your own world, you brighten up my world by reading this, it means a lot to me that you’re here, existing, but I don’t want you to just exist, you deserve to feel alive. You deserve to get up in the morning and feel good about yourself. You deserve to feel something- to feel every damn second alive in this lifetime. It’s heartbreaking that you think you’re not capable of being loved, because you are, I love you trough all my words and I hope you let it happen in your heart. Love is scary, I know, maybe you heart had been broken once and since then you wanted to be rather numb than feel ever again, it hurts me how you punish yourself, does it not deserve love? Because YOU DO deserve love, please forgive yourself, it’s not your fault that the demons want to take over your beautiful heart. You’re not a bad person for distancing yourself from others, but you deserve someone to talk to, you deserve someone to listen. I am listening, you can tell me what’s wrong. It’s everything, isn’t it? You’re so much stronger thank you think, you didn’t leave your spot on this earth even if you wanted to, you belong here, even though it doesn’t feel like it, when you don’t feel like belonging than build your own home here, put all your love in it and dreams. Think of you as a star when you feel alone, you shine because your heart is good, no matter what mistake you made, no matter about the past you had, you’re one of the stars that shine bright in the universe because you’re heart is beautiful, that’s why the demons in your mind wants to have it. As one of the stars you see others stars, maybe they have felt the same way as you do at some point in there life, but they lighten up the universe with each other’s presence. You’re a star for me, maybe you don’t see it yourself but I can see it, you’re beautiful from inside and out, your body is beautiful the way it is. You make me happy by reading this, you make me feel something by your presence and when you can make me feel that way than you also make other people feel that way about you too. I hope you stay for yourself and don’t let your story get written by others but by yourself, it’s your story not theirs. As you can see, I say a lot of “I hope” because I have hope for you even if you don’t have it for yourself, I see hope in you even though you might want to give up. That’s why I hope you won’t see the world in darkness and will see it colorful again, I hope I will give you a glimpse of hope and make the world you see a bit colorful for today. My favorite color is yellow, and I hope the next time you see the color yellow you will think about my words. If someone left you than don’t blame yourself, don’t think you weren’t enough, don’t lower yourself for someone who couldn’t see the awesomeness in you. If you lost someone I am so sorry for your loss, they want you happy, I hope you don’t feel guilty or regret because you were there, you spend enough time with them, they want you to be happy. They are in a good and safe place now. If someone broke your heart than I am so sorry that they couldn’t see the way you look so beautiful because of the heart you have. Anyone who gets to be with you, doesn’t know how fucking lucky he/ she/ they is :). If you aren’t accepted at home or in general than I am so sorry that you have to deal with someone/ something you shouldn’t be ashamed of, I accept you and support you, I accept you as a human being no matter what race, religion, nationality, skin color, or sexuality you have. You’re safe here with me :). You’re not useless, you’re not a burden to anyone. You’re not a problem, you’re human and your feelings are valid. You’re not being dramatic. Please don’t starve yourself, you deserve food and to drink, I know it’s hard. It hurts to see that you’re in so much pain :( you deserve so much man, don’t let your emotions control you. Don’t let them get the best of you. I am sorry no one is noticing, I wish /hope I could take your pain away for today or even for a moment while you’re reading this. If no one told you, I am so proud of you, you’re reading this and it’s enough for me to be proud of you because you’re here and that’s all that matters to me. If it’s night for you, go to sleep, I know it’s hard to fall asleep right now but you deserve a good sleep. If you have nightmares, please, don’t let them fight you. If it’s day for you, don’t start it by such sad music, I know it’s impossible to have a good day with such mindset but take baby steps, start by drinking two cups of water everyday in the morning and so on.. You will start building little healthy habits. If it’s evening for you, you’re probably overwhelmed and stressed, I want you to know it’s okay to feel the way you feel. You don’t need to be scared, of course you’re overwhelmed or stressed, I mean who wouldn’t? But it’s important to know that when you feel that way you should do a little self care, such as taking a bath for example? You deserve to feel at ease and relaxed. And if you are somewhere in between I hope you know that you’re so strong for breathing despite the pain, I know you will make it :) I believe in you. I really needed to read this! I'm from Brazil but recently i have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Everyday i wake up and take a Lot of pills, but doesn't matter. I always feel down. I always feel less. Feel that nobody really cares. I always imagine a perfect world where i am other person, with another reality and other life. A New Life where i could feel something beyond sadness, anxiety, insecurity, feel like i dont want to exist no longer. ALL of this is inside me. It is me.

"maybe im not built for love" ahhhh this hits harder than i thought. a masterpiece indeed.

Being a Syrian refugee myself living the majority of my life in Egypt and having to leave there by force with my brother, the two of us had a very similar Journey, similar to an uncanny level in fact. The first time I watched this was a bit over Two years ago. That was shortly after we arrived to Vienna. From the beginning of the video the first words are "the birds left the trees" the same words my mother said when we left "The birds left the nest" telling us that we're on our own now. The development, of the younger character (Myself, 19 years old at that time) and the older one (23 at the time) my brother, is so strongly relatable. How I was just a kid when we started and slowly starting turning into this person who would do WHATEVER it takes to make it. Emotions were no longer existent, they would be considered an obstacle. "Now the birds has fled - Losing everything I've ever known" behind me I left literally EVERYTHING and EVERYONE I've ever known or had. I had nothing but my brother at that time. Even towards the final scene as they are followed by people (At the borders of Hungry and Serbia) when we were sprinting for hours in the forest, pitch black darkness. We were hiding from the boarder police sometimes posing and waiting for them to pass by or to receive a signal from the smugglers to stop or keep going (Usually animal noises made with the mouth). At one point during that final escape my brother's back pack got stuck in one of the fences that we were going through and I was very ahead of him and ran back to pull him out of it, very similar to what happened in the final scene of the video. This song and the video are unbelievably so similar to my story to an extent that makes me wonder how and what the director of the music video was thinking about... I try not to come back to this video because it brings back so much, nothing I regret and nothing sad. It just brings back a lifetime of experience. To me this is the heaviest video on the internet.

My theory is that this video is about the loss of innocence in war-time or something similar. The monster is a figment of the boy's imagination and thus representing his innocence. The dogs and the hunters are representative of the violence he has seen and been a part of. Finally, these hunters wound the monster and although the boy tries to help the monster along, he must leave him, i.e his innocence behind and the hardened look on the boy's face as he ascends the summit is the boy sans his innocence. PS: I'd like to believe he survives in the end, but not the same anymore

You are right ? Finally the boy dies in his father's arm. He enters after life when he turns back he could still see his father suffering in the same world being a victim of violence that is taking place. But the boy is finally relieved from all of that. Beautifully conveyed what a wonderful video

Hey I like your theory but it can go even deeper than that and relate to life in general. Where the hunters and dogs are the things that attack us as we grow and we lose that innocence as we grow. We are no longer the same people when we were kids.

Absolutely. Loss of innocence. Just that the context of the warzone in the video grounds it to a more specific situation. But yes, the lyrics can totally be interpreted that way!

I think the monster is kind of a guardian leading the boy across the terrain during his time in the "inbetween stage" of life and death, and the hunters and dogs seem to represent and harsh reality of life trying to drag the boy back to the present horror. Then when the monster gets shot down and gestures to the boy to go on without him, it means the boy doesn't need him any more and can carry out the last ascent on his own, reaching the top of the cliff and finally passing peacefully into the "next life".

+Meryn Lobb I think the whole video is the boy's way of coping with whatever shitty world they showed in the start. He is imagining it all in his head so he doesnt have to face it. Like where the monster makes the boy duck. That is actually the dad or whoever making the boy duck to avoid getting shot or something, but he is imagining it as being happy.

+Meryn Lobb I like it! I think it's up to personal interpretation of course. Personally I see the video as nature and childhood interacting (The stunning landscapes, playing tag in the woods, running around, etc). Then society chasing down both childhood and nature until ultimately one has to sacrifice (nature). When we were young (at least our generation and the generation of band) we played outside constantly and used our imaginations, hands, and creativity to make what we wanted. When we got older we had sacrifice nature and our connection with it because society tells us we need to get live a certain way, in the confines of what it deems as 'normal'. Again, this is just my personal interpretation but I think it's an awesome song and an amazing band.
