    "What have we become?" you ask. We become like that which we adore. And may we adore a universe of abundance and generosity, compassion and mercy, forgiveness and loving-kindness. Thank you, Rich and Helen, for this lovely glimpse of what appears to be a fine ship.

    Dude (in British), you're, like, my hero! The narrating style and the way you build it up till the end to make it an inspiring emotional experience is, like...INSPIRING! You make a story out of it. I still have never been into Seabourn, but this video gives me at least some insight so it is not totally foreign and of great disinterest to me when it comes up in conversation or advertising. And this is one of your early videos!

    Enjoyed the video very much. Taking a look at Seabourn (this class, post our Quest trip) for- whenever.... the world gets back to normal. Excellent technical production as always, Including the welcome ‘Keeping it real’ bit- which my other half likes I think most about your productions- That you don’t gloss over something in fake euphoria if there are areas of improvement needed (The Retreat, is just one example) 🙂.

    You have the most soothing cruise ship videos on KZread. Your video, music, and voice are best in class. The only things that detract from your videos is how you generalize the viewers' experience to your personal experience. This is your personal review and I would hope you would own it. Statements like "when you sneak off unbeknownst to your spouse for a late night snack," "when you have to work off a hangover you're in denial about," and "when you have forget your GoPro and have to worry about your brand new iphone" are examples seem out of touch. Just own that these are experiences you personally had. It will make you seen more human, and your videos will be more relatable. I continue to watch all your videos and look forward to any new content you'll create.

    Thank you for watching and your honest feedback Kevin. It’s very much appreciated and valued. I’d never thought of this perspective. I just write what I feel at that particular time, just as I edit in the style or mood I’m in at the time too. The Sky Princess intro and the Celebrity Silhouette intro are examples of this, which people either think are a hit or a miss. Hopefully the hits outweigh the misses, but I like to think new ideas and narratives keep things fresh for returning viewers. I shall take your feedback on board. Hopefully you’re a subscriber. Happy New Year!

    Fascinating insight from a experienced Seabourn voyager into what differences can be expected on the larger Encore-class ships. We're big fans of the Odyssey-class ships, and have been since Odyssey was launched. Will we actively seek to cruise Encore or Ovation? Probably not, as this excellent review confirms many of our thoughts about the bigger ships and the amplification of some of the smaller problems.

    Excellent review, thank you - saw your post on Seabourn Sailors, which led me to KZread, and will now subscribe. We actually took our first ever cruise earlier this year on Seabourn Ovation, and enjoyed it so much, we booked another one whilst onboard - next time it will be on Odyssey, so will be interesting to compare, as so many people are against the larger ships, whereas we had nothing to compare it to, and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the cruise. I look forward to watching your other videos!

    I am writing a book about, well it's a long story, but about a third of the book is taking place on the Encore, on the 37 days of Sinbad cruise. I was hoping the cruise would be on the one of the smaller ships, but that's because my main character is 18 years old without any experience with a posh lifestyle or being around a lot of people she doesn't know. Poor Fela, she's a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing!!

    The average salary for an average Seabourn employee is between 45K-66K (US $) a year. With tips it can be more obviously. As for rest periods they probably do a yearly contract and get 30 - 60 days of vacation (unpaid and industry average) before their next contracted year. 45-66K a year is a good average salary for an average worker indeed at least here in the USA. Added to that free meals and free board and free travel with perhaps good to enough health/catastrophic (eye and dental perhaps included) insurance during their contracted year they are now doing remarkably better than the average US worker. If they have no children and no house/apartment to care of, they can save/invest the majority of the salary and with IRA, in 3 years they could be 10 times remarkably better than the average US worker. It is possible that the average contracted time for average worker is two contract rotations or two years. They do have to work seven days a week for at least 10 hours a day (10-13 hours). After two years that can be too much on a human body with just 30-60 days off in between. Unless of course they can do two or three years take a year or two off and come back... which is what I would do if possible. Considering people want to be with families, want to get pregnant, get married, get a home, raise children, etc... working on any cruise line for more than a year is a commitment. I have a lot of respect for service workers especially in situations like these and try to tip them as well as I can.

    What is the average age of cruisers on this ship?

  • @visitwithus

    @visitwithus

    6 жыл бұрын

    That's a difficult one Rachel. It depends on which voyage you take (which I guess is the same with most cruise lines). However, I de believe Seabourn are making a concerted effort to attract the younger affluent types. The three Seabourn cruises we've been on have had a complete array of ages from honeymooners to the recently retired. I don't think you'll be disappointed. There isn't many children though so if you have a young family, dependent on your preferences, it may not be for you at that stage in your life. :)

    I liked the video. To be honest it is well made and well narrated and you provide Seabourn with a lot of service and advice that they would usually pay someone hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to provide to them. They should be following the videos and at least take a lot of the information to heart and see if they can make some changes that truly serves the customers better... However, why are you racist against US people? LOL It certainly seems that way, not just in this video but others... Or is it just US chefs? I wonder if you hate the Grill more because of the fact that Keller is a US'er... had he been English or whatever would your critique be the same? Hey you guys lost "the colonies" it is what it is... we are supposed to be allies now 😂 I mean Seabourn is an American cruise liner... it makes sense to have a US chef headliner 🤷🏾‍♀️ Or maybe Keller himself is an issue for you, or maybe you hate change and need considerable empirical reasons for any change to be made...?

  • @visitwithus

    We would NEVER be racist against anyone. Whatever country he came from our critique would be the same. We judge the food, not the ethnicity of the chef.

    Thanks for the video. As to "ultra luxury" - this terminology is sooo misleading and outdated. I don't see a decent promenade, real sports facilities, no proper spa (no hydropool = no spa). In other words, I don't see a luxury resort ship here. I see a luxury hotel, upscale dining, but this is not enough for a luxury ship. Happy cruising!

  • @visitwithus

    Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm afraid in our experience, the 'ultra luxury' characteristics you seek are very rare indeed. This ship, along with others like it are deemed by the industry as 'ultra luxury' and as such they have set the bar themselves. Having a proper promenade deck is becoming a rarity and I agree with you, it is a joy to be on a ship with one. I suppose we can't have everything eh? :)
