I love Plastic Beach era Gorillaz so much. Very formative years for me. This music shaped me for better or worse, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Plastic Beach is my happy place

Man, Damon singing Cloud of Unknowing is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Just his voice and a guitar, nothing else needed. Makes me shed a tear

God, Damon singing Cloud of Unknowing makes me remember how they handled the song when I saw them at the O2 in London, when they were touring for the Humanz album. During Cloud of Unknowing, there was no band accompaniment, no guest singer, just the original track playing with the original vocals, whilst the background was a sombre black void, save for a small image of Bobby Womack on one of the screens. Made me tear up, man. Warmed my heart to see how they paid tribute to Bobby even years after his death. Things like that are why I love Gorillaz and the people behind it, such a tight-knit band of musicians. I appreciate you putting all these lost pieces of Gorillaz media in one place, especially Do Ya Thing! Swear that song seems to get taken down a day later everytime it gets uploaded to Spotify... Really wish they'd upload it officially. Also fascinating, hearing early versions of On Melancholy Hill and Empire Ants (two of my favourites :D)

DO YA THANG!!!! I routinely look for the music video on web archive. I actually did a french project summarizing it when they still had the vid up on their channel. The project was "Describe waking up in the morning," and I played the video for my class before breaking down 2D's morning routine.

second comment for the second run: the first melody orchestra has only been a small amount of air on the plastic beach album. I didnt know how big it actually was. i am amazed that he keeps his work secret and then hits it at us with joy. I'm always happy when I find such gems like Sea Sides

Yeah, Pirate's Progress was actually officially released as a bonus track for Plastic Beach as well as 3 Hearts, Seven Seas, Twelve Moons.

i had no idea any of these existed

I'm pretty sure this is the longest version of seasides. Until the seasides anniversary collection releases his version which is gonna have 60 tracks.

Is this a re-packaging done by you? Asking specifically regarding the "2023" in the title, as the Seasides fan compilation with the red/blue submarine logo has been up on youtube for like 8+ years now.

While i love this album. I feel apple carts is the only one that does not belong. It found a new home and settled in nicely as part of dr dee. It does not feel like a plastic beach track and lacks the themes😊

I've been looking everywhere for the crashing down track since Plastic Beach. I just love the simple beat at the beginning, the rest is a bit underwhelming, but far from a bad song altogether.

I know, the song manages to be so powerful from just the short clip we have of 2D's Vocals (+ obv the full Arabic only version)

I would put it in a Google drive but I don't have much storage space left there. There is another version of sea sides with like 50 tracks that has everything I have here and more. And that one can be downloaded on Google drive. Sorry for the inconvenience

Even if it's a cover, that's a damn good acapella cover of Some Kind of Nature in the hidden tracks.

​@@Surepeacooler Definitely a cover, for starters those are neither Damon nor Lou's vocals, not saying they're bad or anything tho. And Azoo, the original uploader here on YT, said in the description of the vid that it was made a year prior to the upload in 2019.

Personally tormenta is my least favourite gorillaz song, however I think saying that gorillaz golden days are over solely because of that is mostly doomerism, or just confirming biases towards the older albums. Which (make no mistake) I prefer to Cracker island, but gorillaz is far from over and still makes many great songs such as silent running, skinny ape and cracker island

It doesn't count as b sides cause they're just demos. But not songs already. (Unlike g-sides and d-sides)

@periurban My more recent stuff is in better audio quality than this (.mp3 or .wav in stero) but this is low quality because its screen recordings that were then converted into (prepare yourself, this will hurt) .m4a because I compiled this entirely on my phone

I think it's massively overgeneralising to say that all post PB songs are bad, and damon isn't trying to play "cool dad" he's always collaborated with other musicians and rappers, if he didn't then we wouldn't have Feel Good Inc, Stylo or EMPIRE ANTS. I'll admit, the albums haven't had concepts that are as strong as the first few phases, but gorillaz has by no means become "awful"

10 years is a wholesale change for most people, as is the music in the world, you can't expect it all to stay the same, listen to the crap that's all around us now, on the radio? It's all terrible stuff being peddled by the music industry who has a stranglehold on what they want to play to the world, not letting smaller bands make head way in the "charts," the charts that have no meaning any more because the record labels control it all blocking licensing

@@Surepeacooler It's not the music industry who runs KZread, if that's what you mean. If you didn't have music videos, Spotify or some other main streaming site, how would you find good music? How would you even be able to categorically drill down into your fave types? Even then, look at who they put up there at awards shows for the TV. If you're in the US, where's all the Metal genres, the Shoegazes, British rap, Aussie pop? You won't see them on these awards shows, you can't even hear these varieties, everything is pigeonholed and handpicked because they don't want fringe music any more, but sure, they'll let you just have it on KZread etc but they'll never count them into the main charts for mainstream consumption any more
