The whalers are not intruders. They are whaling in international waters. It is like an car jacker being detained then claiming he was kidnapped. They freaking took a RIB over to the Japanese boat and boarded it, while underway, without permission. Then claim they are hostages. Give me a break, the Japanese should have shot them the second they set foot on their ship. They pursued them, made aggressive navigational maneuvers and then boarded their ship, not to mention the language barrier. They took every action a pirate vessel would take. There is no help a phone call away.

How could they possibly think that would go well? The one guy seemed to understand that the whalers hate them...yet they still boarded their ship anyways. How could you possibly think boarding the ship of people that despise you is a good idea? It's like they have a complete lack of understanding of human interactions.

@Les Hicks why does Sea Shepherd not attack U.S. ships that kill whales for research? A lot of countries kill whales for research. Most countries allow the whale meat to go to waste. Japan puts the meat to use by allowing it to enter the food supply. They generally don't hunt many endangered species of whales and the quota numbers are pretty sustainable. They are not a signer of the treaty that bans whaling and thus the treaty does not apply to them.
